The Women Ice Angler Project is a media event designed to spread the word that Women ice fish, and some are quite good at it. It all started in the fall of 2015, when all the ice fishing magazines came out and we noticed that there was no pictures of Women Ice Fishing.  Our anger was turned into a project to create media content to share among ice fishing companies, ice anglers, and the general public. A group of media professionals was assembled and off to Lake of the Woods we went. Outdoor First Media filmed the event and there were numerous photos, articles, videos, and radio interviews that developed from the project. Well it worked.

It’s that time of year again … time to find the perfect gift or stocking stuffer for hunters and other outdoorsy types in your life. Or maybe there’s something on my list that you’d like to ask Santa to bring you.

Make a resolution now to attend Becoming an Outdoors-Woman’s “Bow Deluxe” event from Jan. 22 to 24, 2016,  at Saguaro Lake Ranch in Arizona.

To me, Christmas is all about Jesus and spending time with family and friends. I’m not an auntie or a tia, but I love buying presents for the children that have adopted me as one. This year I’ll be lucky enough to share the time with two that call me their aunt, a 10-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl. Since I strive to be a mentor, you can guess they’ll be unwrapping some outdoorsy gifts Christmas morning.

There’s still time to get that woman who is into the shooting sports or hunting a great gift from The Well Armed Woman. Here are a few choices that we have used recently and recommend.

Michelle Cerino lists 12 items for 12 Days of Christmas Gift giving list for an outdoorsy woman, and it doesn’t include any partridges or pears.

Featured blogger Hollis Lumpkin had quite a start to the first split of the duck season in South Carolina. She tagged a banded black duck from Canada and also, went hunting 3 times! You may read all about Hollis’s duck hunting adventures at her blog, “The Bright Side of the Road,” which is one of our favorite, most positive outdoor blogs written by a woman.

Joyce Schmalz, from “In the Wild Kitchen,” decided to decorate for Christmas by using some elk antlers, in what she calls “Hunting Chic.” We think she did a great job and are delighted that she permits us to share not only her great recipes (especially for moose!), but also her decorating ideas.
