The Difference Between Garland And Paris

Mon, 05/04/2015 - 11:27

When armed terrorists attacked Charlie Hebdo headquarters over Muhammad cartoons on January 7, unarmed police officers were forced to flee for their lives. When armed men attacked people gathered in Garland, Texas, on May 3 over Prophet Muhammad cartoons, armed police cut them down — and the Daily Mail reported that the body of one was left lying the street while police searched for explosives.

The difference between Garland and Paris can be summed up in one word: guns.

A Prudent Reminder

Fri, 05/01/2015 - 13:29

What would you do if you went to purchase some ammunition to find all the ammo off the shelves and a sign stating “Due to the ongoing state of emergency ammo will not be available for sale”?

Good food for thought.

The Rise Of The Female Hunter

Thu, 04/30/2015 - 14:31

When you think of hunters, you’d be forgiven if the image of burly men wearing beards, camouflage and orange hats comes to mind. For a long time, this has been the commonly accepted portrait of a hunter. Things are changing, however. No longer a pursuit solely dominated by men, hunting is starting to see more and more women take up camo, boots and rifle. In fact, over the past four years most of the new hunters across America have been female. What does this mean for the hunting industry and status quo? Well for one thing, organizations are springing up to cater to the needs of the female hunter. Membership in outdoor groups for women has been increasing rapidly and companies are designing gear specifically for women who hunt. In some stores and catalogs, up to a third of all gear for sale is made specifically for women. These products include things ranging from recoil pads that attach to bra straps to pink trimmed camouflage. Naturally, a variety of clothing is being designed to comfortably fit the female figure so no one is forced to wear bulky men’s items or hand-me-downs. Waterproof boots, outdoor apparel and all the accessories such as hats and gloves are now readily available to the female hunter. What is driving this trend of women hunters? For some, these outings are a chance for family bonding time. For others,...

Trigger Jerk Is An Illusion

Wed, 04/29/2015 - 09:36

According to Sheriff of Baghdad:

There is no such thing. Your trigger finger is not strong enough. In this vid I pulled the trigger with this 1/2″ ratchet. Look how hard I hit the ratchet. I regularly break Glock triggers so I carry extras. Lol. Trigger jerk is actually #Anticipation. Anticipation starts in the brain and moves the gun before it goes off. Not your Finger!!! Commonly known as a flinch. The fix is relax the brain and Don’t Do It!

Army Seeks Gun Industry Help On M4 Carbine

Mon, 04/27/2015 - 09:43

The Army is asking the gun industry to build new components for its soldiers’ primary weapon — the M4 carbine — a move that experts say is a tacit admission that the service has been supplying a flawed rifle that lacks the precision of commercially available guns.

At a recent Capitol Hill hearing, an Army general acknowledged that the M4’s magazine has been responsible for the gun jamming during firefights.

On the federal government’s FedBizOpps.gov website, the Army announced a “market survey” for gunmakers to produce a set of enhancements to essentially create a new model — the “M4A1+.” It would include a modular trigger, a new type of rail fitted around a “free floating” barrel and other parts. The upgrade is supposed to improve the rifle’s accuracy and reliability.

Texas House Gives Final Approval To Open Carry

Mon, 04/20/2015 - 18:07

Texas is closer to becoming the most populous state to allow licensed open carry of handguns after Republicans pushed through a key vote in the state House.

House lawmakers in a 101-42 vote gave final approval to open carry on Monday after preliminarily passing the bill Friday. The state Senate has already approved a similar version and the chambers could send the measure to Gov. Greg Abbott to sign into law in the coming weeks.

Abbott and the Legislature’s strong Republican majority have pushed open carry as an important gun rights and self-defense measure. Most Democrats have opposed it, noting concerns from police in the state’s largest cities and gun control advocates about public safety.

Texas is only of only six states that don’t allow some form of open carry.

Texas House Takes Up ‘Open Carry’ On Friday

Thu, 04/16/2015 - 09:48

Media partner Texas Tribune reports a bill to allow Concealed Handgun License holders to openly carry their handguns is up for a vote in the Texas House on Friday. That’s after one of the bill’s opponents halted debate on Tuesday.

Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer, D-San Antonio, raised a point of order and said testimony from three different witnesses from committee hearings were incorrect. The website says the bill was sent back to the House Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, which immediately voted it out again after fixing the mistake.

The Tribune says once the open carry bill comes up for a vote, it should pass easily.

Eyes are also on the progress of a bill to repeal the DREAM act. That program offers in-state tuition to undocumented immigrants.
