500 Yard Shot With a .22LR Pistol

Mon, 12/15/2014 - 12:18

Courtesy of 22plinkster
I did not get this shot on the first try, it took me 6. This shot was the longest shot that I have ever tried with a handgun. I was using my 1962 Colt Woodsman Target Model with 36 grain Federal Champion ammo. I want to thank IV8888 for coming up and filming with me. I had 4 other witnesses for this shot. Just ask Eric, he’ll tell you I pulled it off.

Long Range Shooting with Glock Pistol | Instructor Zero

Mon, 12/15/2014 - 11:32

Zero engages targets at 300 Meters with a Glock to demonstrate the effect bullets still have if you happen to miss your intended target. Zero also demonstrates that with enough ammo and experience you can provide some suppressing fire with a secondary weapon at long range, if you are forced into that situation. This video is not saying that a hand gun should be used as a primary weapon to engage targets at range, but if you are desperate, this video proves that a pistol is not COMPLETELY useless.

Less than 40 rounds were fired to achieve 3 hits on a figure 11 target at 300 meters on a windy day. The entire shoot was completed in 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Support For Gun Rights At Highest Point In Two Decades

Thu, 12/11/2014 - 09:50

Support for gun rights is higher than it’s been in decades, according to the latest data from the Pew Research Center that signals a stunning turnaround in how Americans feel about the issue just two years after the Newtown school shooting.

Pew found that 52 percent of Americans say Second Amendment rights are more important than gun control — up 7 percentage points from just after the December 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that left 20 schoolchildren and six faculty dead.

That’s the highest approval rating in two decades, and it’s being driven in part by changing attitudes among black Americans, who are increasingly likely to view guns as good for public safety.

Navy Tests Super Precise Laser Weapon in Persian Gulf

Wed, 12/10/2014 - 13:09

It’s a warm November day in the Persian Gulf. The radar system of the USS Ponce detects an incoming vessel. An operator aboard the ship, working a controller not dissimilar to a PlayStation 4 handset, takes aim at the target using the Navy’s Laser Weapon System or LaWS high-aperture telescope. He sees a red, rigid-hulled inflatable boat on fast approach. The operator executes the command to fire. No sound emerges from the deck of the Ponce; there is no burst of gunpowder. The laser precisely destroys a three-foot high stack of shells on the red boat but misses entirely a decoy human just a few inches away.
