Video: Massive Alligator Snapping Turtle Rescued in Louisiana
Noodlers beware: two men in Baton Rouge, Louisiana recently rescued a roughly four-foot-long alligator snapping turtle from a drainage canal. According to WAFB, the turtle was wedged in a culvert and needed to be pulled out. Despite its dangerous reputation, the two men decided to give the animal a push.
Alligator snapping turtles may have a menacing name, but turtle-on-human biting incidents are few and far in between. The large reptiles spend most of their time on river bottoms and...

Vortex Diamondback Binoculars
I always knew about the importance of binoculars to hunting. You can only see so far, right? Being able to spot game, check things out, and such are key to hunting and general outdoor fun. My first pair of what I thought were “high-end” binoculars cost me a whopping $75. I know that’s not chicken feed, but compared to other binoculars, these were comparable to a kid's toy. Still, I thought they were awesome. Then I moved out West.
I took a gig as a writer for Cabela’s and moved my family out to western Nebraska, where the company is headquartered. I soon had access to some really...

UFOs Spotlighting Deer? Trail Camera Manufacturer Offers Possible Answer
Earlier this week, OutdoorHub reported on a story from Jackson County, Mississippi in which a trail camera picked up a bizarre image. In it, a deer appeared to have its back to the camera while two eerie lights hovered nearby. The couple who owns the trail cam, Rainer and Edith Shattles, said they found no tire tracks near the area when they checked. With a truck or ATV ruled out, they guessed that the lights might have belonged to a drone or even a UFO---alien or otherwise.

Patterning the CVA Apex for Turkey Season
Last month, I decided to take my CVA Apex set up with the turkey barrel out for a little patterning test. The gun is set up with the stock CVA turkey choke and a KONUS 3-9x40 Ballistic Reticle scope. The gun was dirty, so I deep-cleaned it. I used a Ballistol-soaked bronze brush on a cleaning rod and scrubbed the barrel for five minutes. I then let it sit for 15 minutes and scrubbed it with the CVA Barrel Blaster bore cleaner for three to four minutes. I finished by pushing...
