Firearms Stolen From FFLs Down 63% Since 2017

Sun, 03/19/2023 - 10:00

Keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals takes a monumental effort. Partnerships between neighborhood gun store retailers, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) are critical and a multifaceted endeavor.

The firearm industry’s Operation Secure Store (OSS) is a pillar partnership with ATF and DOJ to provide brick-and-mortar firearm retailers with educational resources and services to better secure their inventory and reduce robberies and burglaries.

Figliuzzi: This is How the Feds Should Dragoon Local LEOs Into Helping Enforce Their Gun Control Schemes

Sun, 03/19/2023 - 08:00

We need the Justice Department to use its power of the purse and offer incentives for local, county and state agencies to abide by their state’s red flag laws and, just as importantly, disincentives when they don’t.

Following last year’s mass shooting at Club Q, the LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, some state lawmakers raised questions about law enforcement leaders who were unsupportive of the state’s red flag provisions.

After Bruen, Lower Courts Are Still Coming Up With ‘Creative’ Ways to Prolong the Inevitable

Sat, 03/18/2023 - 08:00

Resistance. We use this term in different senses when discussing lower court decisions. One, courts might resist the fact of the Bruen decision itself or they might read the decision in a manner that resists adopting the logical conclusions of the decision’s methodology.

Resistance can also manifest itself in a desultory or bad faith application of Bruen. For example, despite not citing a single piece of evidence or engaging in any meaningful analysis, a Texas district court refused to dismiss an indictment brought under 18 U.S.C.

Gear Review: Streamlight TLR-8 G Sub Weapon Light and Laser

Fri, 03/17/2023 - 12:00

Let’s face it. Everyone who carries a handgun should carry a light, too. You never know where or when you’ll have to use your handgun in a defensive situation, let alone the lighting conditions you’ll be dealing with. And properly identifying the threat is pretty important.

Some of us carry a flashlight as part of our EDC gear, but a weapon-mounted light is quick, convenient and works well when your off-hand is otherwise occupied.

Biden Adopts a Whole-Of-Government Approach in Targeting Firearm Makers, Gun Owners’ Rights

Thu, 03/16/2023 - 16:00

From the NRA-ILA . . .

On Tuesday, Joe Biden issued an executive order on gun control that could accurately be described as a mile wide and an inch deep.

Media and gun control groups that beforehand had been salivating over the idea that the measure would impose “universal background checks” for firearm transfers had to content themselves with a vague directive for Attorney General Merrick Garland to develop a “plan” to move in that direction.

SIG SAUER Acquires Remote Weapons Platform Maker General Robotics

Thu, 03/16/2023 - 14:00

Have you seen the extended version of ‘Aliens’? In the longer cut, the surviving Marines who are marooned on LV-426 deploy remote sentry weapons outside their makeshift fortress to hold off the advancing aliens while Bishop the android remote-pilots the backup dropship from the orbiting Sulaco to rescue them.

The robotic guns work beautifully — for a while — until the approaching xenomorph horde proves to be too many for the weapons and exhausts their ammunition supply.

Real Gun Grabs: Illinois State Police Confiscation Program Limps Along

Thu, 03/16/2023 - 10:00

Each year, the Illinois State Police solicit grant requests from law enforcement agencies around the state to perform “firearm enforcement” activities. Translation: the ISP pays for local LEOs to conduct “compliance checks”…confiscating guns from those who fall out of compliance with the Illinois FOID Act.

While this story isn’t the time or place to debate the constitutionality of the FOID scheme (and Guns Save Life has a lawsuit challenging it awaiting a court ruling), here are some raw numbers.

Chicago Mayoral Candidate Advocated Zeroing Out Police Budgets in 2020

Wed, 03/15/2023 - 16:00

Not even three years ago, current Chicago mayoral candidate Brandon Johnson didn’t think “defunding the police” went far nearly enough. Not if that meant cutting the budget for law enforcement, anyway. Instead, he wanted to totally zero out police budgets and do without policing entirely in America’s third largest city.

He wasn’t shy about that position either. He offered that view as a Cook County board member official representing a crime-ridden district within Murder City, USA.

Textbook Biden: Push for More Restrictions On Gun Rights, Ignore Violent Crime, Actual Safety

Wed, 03/15/2023 - 14:00

From the CCRKBA . . .

President Joe Biden’s new executive order on guns won’t reduce gun-related violent crime, nor will it make our communities safer, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

Biden signed the executive order Tuesday in Monterey Park, California. He is bypassing Congress, “with the goal of increasing the number of background checks conducted before firearm sales,” and moving the country closer to so-called “universal background checks” as possible without additional legislation.

Things That Don’t Suck: WOOX Gladiatore Furniture for the Mossberg Shockwave

Wed, 03/15/2023 - 12:00

I go to SHOT Show this year with a plan, a list of booths to swing by, a pre-planned route, and a map. It’s a plan intended to maximize efficiency. What kills efficiency is when I find things off my route, things that draw me in and distract me…and I love it.

A company called WOOX caught my eye with their beautiful wood furniture adorning multiple rifles and shotguns. This beautiful furniture wasn’t your typical wood, but it mixed classic style with function.

Wed, 03/15/2023 - 11:16

From the AP . . .

A special prosecutor who doubles as a state legislator is stepping down from her role in the manslaughter case against actor Alec Baldwin in the death of a cinematographer on a New Mexico film set.

Baldwin’s legal team in February sought to disqualify special prosecutor and Republican state Rep. Andrea Reeb based on constitutional provisions that safeguard the separation of powers between distinct branches of government.

Biden Ignores Criminals, But Wants the ATF to Confiscate Your Undetectable GLOCK 7

Wed, 03/15/2023 - 10:00

By Lee Williams

Detective John McClane was the first to warn us about the dangers of the Glock 7.

“That punk pulled a GLOCK 7 on me. You know what that is? It’s a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn’t show up on your airport X-ray machines here and it costs more than what you make in a month,” Detective McClane said in Die Hard 2.

Thank God the White House was listening.

Young: Name, Shame, and Blame Gun Rights Supporters Until the Second Amendment is Repealed

Tue, 03/14/2023 - 14:00

By Lee Williams

In a recent editorial, the left-leaning news website Colorado Newsline called on its readers to publicly confront gun owners, because “only when gun absolutists become social pariahs can the nation start to establish comprehensive reform, allowing community members to attend schools, shop at grocery stores and visit nightclubs without fear of being torn to shreds in a blast of bullets.”

The editorial, which was titled “Stop tolerating gun extremists.

Gear Review: D&L Sports Performance Revolver Grips

Tue, 03/14/2023 - 12:00

My recently purchased Smith & Wesson Model 610 10mm is an okay revolver out of the box. When I replaced the factory sights with the vastly superior D&L Sports fixed combat sights, it got a whole lot better.

It’s now an entirely different — and far better — revolver entirely, and much of that is owed to the new D&L Sports Performance Revolver Grips.

After I saw the quality of Dave Lauck’s sights, it was an easy decision to have him tackle the rest of the revolver.

Taft: Why is it ‘Cartel Violence’ When It’s South of the Border, But It’s ‘Gun Violence’ Here?

Tue, 03/14/2023 - 08:00

As you are well aware, the [west coast] is among the most confused and Leftist areas of the country. Confused because Washington, Oregon, and California have made themselves sanctuaries for all manner of lawbreakers by letting criminals out of jails and prisons, reducing penalties for felonies, and even redefining felonies down to misdemeanors in the name of equity. You are not allowed to smoke tobacco on Seattle’s bus system, for example, but Fentanyl smokers can fire up without fear.
