The Truth About Guns

NSSF Welcomes Rep. Bergman’s FIND Act Introduction In Congress
Although it happened sporadically prior, under the Obama administration an entire top-down policy directive called Operation Choke Point was designed to deny banking, payment processing, insurance, and other services to the firearm industry. Texas passed a law preventing this sort of discrimination, and now the FIND Act seeks to do similar at the Federal level.
From NSSF . . .
NEWTOWN, Conn. — NSSF®, the firearm industry trade association, welcomed the introduction of H.R.

Cops Catch Up To A Six-Time Felon With Shooting Range In His Basement…In Chicago
The Chicago PD recently tracked down a six-time felon with an enviable collection of firearms and accessories. Among his toys were suppressors, which are off-limits for mere mortals in the Land O’ Lincoln. But that isn’t all that made the case of Ryan Gamboa uniquely unique.
You see, Ryan had set up an improvised shooting range in the basement of his house. Heck, the genius even posted a video on Facebook of him shooting a suppressed AR in his private range.
New from KE Arms: Glock Mag Compatible Polymer AR-15 Lower
If the new Glock mag compatible polymer receiver from KE Arms is as good as their AR-15 receiver, I will be buying a few of these, too. At only $159 for the semi-stripped lower ($225 complete at Brownells) you should probably grab a couple for yourself while I’m at it.
Straight from the horse’s website:
The KP-9 is a monolithic polymer 9mm Glock Mag Compatible AR15 style receiver made from injection molded 30% glass filled nylon incorporating the buttstock, buffer tube, pistol grip, and trigger guard into the receiver design as integral components.

Obscure Object of Desire: Astra 600 9mm Pistol
At least in my experience, the modern gun show sucks. Huge letdown. It’s full of striker-fired polymer-frame pistols, AR-15s, Wish-quality optics, and everything wears an extreme markup. Don’t forget the cheap Chinese knives, the sound of tasers, and, of course, the random pyramid scheme.
So, imagine my shock when my little town had its first gun show in decades, and it was precisely what gun shows should be. I ended up walking away with two pistols, one of which is featured here: the Astra 600 AKA the Pistole Astra 600/43.

Road Rager Blocks Other Driver, Reaches Inside The Car, And Is Shot Dead [VIDEO]
Someone with anger management problems who reaches inside someone’s car after blocking them on the road is liable to get their ticket punched. That’s exactly happened to a plumber named Scott Mattison last week in a Chicago suburb.
Mattison suffered a road rage episode in Streamwood, Illinois. He stopped his truck, and verbally berated another driver. When he reached inside the other car and struck the driver, the driver shot and killed him.

The steady drumbeat of American politicians eager get involved in a hot war halfway around the world continues unabated. The latest is a New York politician who wants to collect rifles and shotguns for Ukrainian citizens to use against Russian invaders.
The politician, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, doesn’t even have the necessary export permits, yet he’s moving ahead with requests for donated guns or people to purchase (New York State compliant) guns for export.
The New Playbook: Attack the Second Amendment By Going After the First
By Larry Keane
There’s a renewed effort by gun control to deny Second Amendment rights to gun owners. They’re going after the First Amendment.
Gun control groups squealed with excitement over the decision by insurers of the now-defunct Remington Outdoor Company (ROC) to settle the lawsuit brought by some of the families of the Sandy Hook tragedy. That settlement, which contained no admission of liability, paid out $73 million and released the marketing materials that were produced by ROC during discovery.
Richland County, South Carolina Juveniles Shoot Back, Killing Armed Home Invader
Just as prudent parents teach their kids how to swim at a young age, folks should teach responsible children and grandchildren how to use a gun safely. Because someday, they might need that gun to save their lives.
In Richland County, South Carolina, a home invasion at an apartment complex saw a pair of juveniles forced to shoot back at an armed intruder who shot at them first. The armed home invader broke into the occupied apartment.
Indiana Lawmakers Put Constitutional Carry on Governor’s Desk; Approval Expected… Or Else
Yesterday, Indiana passed a Constitutional Carry bill that would allow anyone 18-years-old or older eligible to own a gun the right to carry one in public without any government licenses. It passed overwhelmingly, putting Gov. Holcomb in a sticky position.
While Governor Eric Holcomb is a Republican, he’s not a big fan of Constitutional Carry. In this instance, he can either sign the bill and claim victory, or he can veto it and suffer the humiliation of getting his veto over-ridden with a simple majority in both houses.

Gun Control Hypocrisy On International Women’s Day
March 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day, and lawmakers all over the country will be championing it today on their social media accounts and other outlets. Well, here’s some hard truth: any lawmaker who voted for gun control, supported gun control, and/or introduced gun control fights against Women’s Rights.
Anti-gun lawmakers don’t get to use #InternationalWomensDay.
Women are the largest growing segment of new shooters. As reported in The New Face Of Gun Ownership by The Cut:
In the ’90s, most gun owners cited hunting and sports shooting as the primary reason.

Retailers Rushing Standard Capacity Magazines Into Washington State Ahead of July 1 ‘Hi Cap’ Ban
The Washington state legislature passed a “high capacity” magazine ban last week. The bill is now on Washington Governor Jay Inslee’s desk, but he’s already stated that he’ll be only too happy to sign it into law.
That means that as of July 1, the manufacture, importation, distribution, sale or offering for sale magazines that hold more than ten rounds of ammunition will be illegal.
Standard capacity magazines owned prior to July 1 will be grandfathered in under the new ban.
Gun Meme of the Day: Well Yes But That’s Different Edition
“We believe in citizens standing up to their government, just not our government.”
Perhaps this is related to our ruling class’ obsession with banning “assault weapons,” despite the fact that they’re used in likely less than one percent of violent crime or murders. Should guns only be legal for militia use, or are militia-appropriate firearms “weapons of war that shouldn’t be available to civilians?” Interesting.

Supreme Court Ruling Reduces the Reach of the Armed Career Criminal Act’s Sentencing Enhancements
By Jessica Gresko, AP
The Supreme Court on Monday narrowed the reach of a federal law that strengthens penalties for career criminals found to illegally have a gun.
The high court was ruling in the case of a man a lower court classified as a career criminal after counting the man’s burglary of 10 different public storage units on a single evening as 10 separate offenses. The high court said unanimously Monday that was an error.
Mini Shells Part 3: Takho 2-Inch Slugs
Another day another mini shell. That was my reaction scrolling through a social media group dedicated to shotguns. A fella was showing off and talking about a new mini shell I’ve never heard of.
These are 2-inch slugs he was talking about. In the past, we’ve tested 1.75-inch shells and 2.5-inch shells, so these were something new. These 2-inch shells are made by a Ukranian company called Takho (no, I don’t know their current status given Russian hostilities).

Springfield Upsizes With The New Compact-Size Hellcat Pro 9mm Pistol
It used to be that handguns were introduced in full-size models, with manufacturers then paring them down into smaller compact and subcompact versions. Now we’ve come full circle. Springfield Armory rolled out their Hellcat microcompact back in 2019. They added the RDP, basically an optics-cut standard Hellcat with extended 15-round mags and a compensator.
Now, however, they’ve upsized the design. The new Hellcat Pro is basically the size and capacity of a G19 with full-fingered 15+1 capacity.
