Intellectual Bankruptcy: Trying to Preserve Gun Control in the US Using a 14th Century English Law
By MarkPA
Much is made of the 1328 Statute of Northampton to minimize or even to deny the right to bear arms. Northampton seems to be the core of the 9th Circuit’s opinion in Young v Hawaii. Northampton is sited by the State of New York in NYSR&PA v Bruen. The latest I’ve seen is a short essay by Jonah Skolnic last week at the Duke Center for Firearms Law’s blog.
An Actual Dream Gun…My Grandfather’s Hand-Me-Down Shotgun
By Have Dash
My teenage son’s entry into shooting sports began two years ago when my grandfather approached a cousin and asked him to pass down a vintage shotgun. This was noteworthy because my grandfather died in 1977.
Like many ghost stories, this one involves a dark and stormy night. I was driving home in the rain, thinking about a new 20-gauge I’d eyed a few days prior. It would be a great entry-level piece for my son who had been mentioning that his experience at Boy Scout camp got him interested in shooting.

College Students Learn About American Society Through a Trip to a Gun Range
Professor David Yamane teaches a Sociology of Guns course at Wake Forest University. Part of the curriculum includes a trip to a shooting range for the class’s students. After the range trip, students are assigned to write an essay reflecting on the experience and Professor Yamane posts some of those at his blog. Here are the thoughts of a “self-identified ‘flaming liberal’” . . .
As I am reflecting and rereading this summary of my thoughts, it strikes me that I have never been socialized with guns in a context of non-violence.
American Gun: Shooting a Suppressed Firearm is Like Finding Religion
The transition from going to shooting a traditional weapon to a suppressed weapons was kinda like finding Christ, I guess.
That’s the proclamation of farmer Chase in SilencerCo’s latest video profile of American gun owners. You may not have a born-again experience the first time you shoot a suppressed rifle, but there’s no question that you’ll never want to go back once you do.
SilencerCo’s American Gun series of videos are beautifully produced and worth your time whether you’re in the market for a can or not.

Denver STEM School Shooter Sentenced to Life Without Parole
By James Anderson, AP
A judge on Friday sentenced a former student to life in prison without parole for a 2019 shooting inside a suburban Denver high school that killed one teenager and injured eight others, telling the defendant he had shown no remorse and had failed to help a devastated community understand his actions.
Devon Erickson, now 20, was convicted in June of 46 charges, including first-degree murder in the death of Kendrick Castillo, an 18-year-old senior hailed as a hero for trying to stop the attack on a classroom at STEM School Highlands Ranch, south of Denver.

A report in the Wall Street Journal showing that nearly half of all new gun buyers since January 2019 are women is not surprising, considering efforts to defund police agencies, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

Statement About Shield Sights Footprint By CEO James White
Shield Sights’ SMS and RMS lines are the most compact reflex sights on the market, which makes them perfect for sub-compact and micro-compact pistols. In fact, the mounting pattern — the “footprint” — of these sights has become an industry standard that is used by many other optic manufacturers for their smallest reflex style pistol-focused red dot optics, but there has been come market confusion as to what this footprint should be called and where it comes from.

Gun Grabbers’ Lament: More Americans Than Ever Are Deciding That Owning a Gun is a Very Good Idea
There’s an interesting shift concerning Americans’ attitudes toward guns and gun control. Pew Research Center, a Washington, D.C. think tank that tracks attitudes on social issues, public opinion and demographic trends updated their research on guns.
Gun ownership is rising and the appetite for gun control is waning at the same time. Background checks for gun sales topped 21 million in 2020, shattering previous records. So far, 2021 has seen over 12.4 million background checks, on pace for what could be the second strongest year on record.
New ARMME App Provides A Community For Gun Owners Without The Social Media Censorship
While COVID hasn’t exactly brought a lot of positive developments for many of us personally or to the nation or globe as a whole, one thing that’s absolutely fantastic for the 2A community is the massive influx of first-time gun owners. Better, still, is the fact that so many of these new firearm owners are women, minorities, and other folks of a not OFWG background.
The new ARMME app is intended to create a community geared heavily toward these new gun owners and, hopefully, future Second Amendment supporters and defenders.
