Tennessee Pro-Gun Proposal Shot Down in Committee

Fri, 03/29/2024 - 09:00

Despite a strong Republican majority in the house that makes it unlikely any of the radical anti-gun bills proposed this year will ever see the light of day, the force of that majority wasn’t enough to get one bill out of committee that would have actually helped gun owners.

A proposal aiming to allow concealed carry permit holders to bring firearms into businesses even with signage stating otherwise was narrowly defeated by the Tennessee Senate Judiciary Committee, as reported by the Nashville Tennessean.

Road Rage Lessons: No Winners in Ohio Incident…Or Ever

Fri, 03/29/2024 - 07:00

An Ohio road rage incident has ended in tragedy for both parties, again, reinforcing the importance to gun owners—or anybody for that matter—to just drive on and avoid conflicts at all costs.

Arguing self-defense in the road rage incident, which resulted in the shooting death of George Jensen, 40, on May 17, 2023, Dacarrei Kinard, 31, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and additional firearms-related charges. Kinard was facing murder charges, but the jury, which deliberated for five hours, found him guilty of the lesser, albeit still very serious manslaughter charge.

Virginia And Washington: A Tale Of Two Governors

Thu, 03/28/2024 - 15:00

In the same week that Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin vetoed 30 measures that would have greatly curtailed the rights of lawful Virginians, all the way across the country a much different scenario was unfolding.

On March 27, Democrat Washington Gov. Jay Inslee signed a handful of anti-gun measures that will only hurt lawful citizens and not affect violent criminals.

Perhaps the worst measure, HB 2118, places a number of expensive, punitive requirements on Washington firearms retailers and will likely run many of them out of business.

The Thin Red Line: Virginia Gov. Youngkin Vetoes Onslaught of Anti-Gun Bills

Wed, 03/27/2024 - 12:49

With Virginia citizen’s facing an onslaught of anti-gun bills from the state’s Democat-led General Assembly, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin vetoed as many as 30 anti-gun bills designed to restrict the gun rights of law-abiding people and misguidedly empower criminals. The 30 proposed bills had sparked considerable debate across the state. While it was believed Youngkin would do exactly as he did—veto most of the bills and recommend amendments to others—he had remained publicly vague about what action he would take leading up to the vetoes.

2A Heroes: Virginia AG Clarifies CHP Renewal Confusion

Wed, 03/27/2024 - 11:24

The Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) sent out a news alert the other day reporting that the state’s Attorney General Jason Miyares had just released an important formal opinion dealing with CHP renewals.

It appears since changes in the process took place in 2020, in which “in person” language was added to the statute, some judges in Virginia were misreading the law and misconstruing it to believe it now required a person renewing a concealed handgun permit (CHP) had to provide proof, again, that they had “in-person” training in order to get their permit renewed.

WHEN ‘SORRY’ DOESN’T CUT IT: Mom Says Her Stabby 12-Year-Old Son Is ‘Just a Boy’

Wed, 03/27/2024 - 09:06

Bad people with evil in their hearts pick the time and place of their attacks. We all know that the only thing that stops bad people (and lunatics) with evil in their hearts is a good person with a gun. Which is why prudent and responsible gun owners should carry everyday.

In a “should have been a defensive gun use” incident in Houston, a 12-year-old with near-zero self-control stabbed a 59-year-old woman. What possessed this young man to grab a knife following an argument with an adult and return to stab her?

FPC Files Response Brief In Pistol Brace Lawsuit

Wed, 03/27/2024 - 07:00

The battle over the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) rule redefining braced pistols as “short-barreled rifles” placing them under the National Firearms Act continues in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Most recently, the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) and FPC Action Foundation (FPCAF) filed a response brief late last week with the circuit court in the case Mock v. Garland, which challenges the constitutionality of the pistol brace rule.

“As noted, there is no harm to ATF from pausing enforcement of the Rule and maintaining the status quo,” the brief states.

DC Shocker: Woman Acquitted of Murder, Other Charges After Self-Defense Claim

Tue, 03/26/2024 - 15:00

In a verdict that is more notable for where it occurred—Washington, DC—more so than why it occurred—a justifiable self-defense claim, Tierra Posey, a 24-year-old woman, was acquitted of all charges related to fatally shooting another woman during a fight in 2020. The acquittal came after a week-long trial in DC Superior Court, as reported by DC Witness.

The case centered around the events of January 6, 2020, at a gas station on the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE, Washington, DC, where 21-year-old Tia Carey was fatally shot.

Pittsburgh Residents Have One More Reason Why They Really Should Consider Owning a Gun

Tue, 03/26/2024 - 13:00

As if current worries by many citizens about crime aren’t already high enough, even as overall crime statistics show a reduction in crime since the criminal spikes as a result of the post-George Floyd Defund the Police and No Cash Bail movements, along with the BLM riots, residents in Pittsburgh have more to worry about.

Call 911 and depending on the time of night or how bad your situation actually is, nobody may be coming to the rescue.

Guns We Love: The Kriss Vector Review

Tue, 03/26/2024 - 11:00

The original Kriss Vector hit the market around 2009, giving a tantalizing vision of what the future held. A unique bold travel design promised to drain all the recoil from the subgun, giving controllable full auto in a small package. I’ve had this specific model for a couple years now, long enough that subsequent court issues surrounding pistol braces have scared off many manufacturers from offering braced variants. So, consider as you read, that while my version is braced, that’s the only real difference between this and the other versions still produced.

Anti-Gun Governors & Mayors Are Learning More Guns Do Not Necessarily Mean More Crime

Tue, 03/26/2024 - 09:00

Several of the nation’s most ardent gun control activist governors and mayors of the largest metropolitans are staring down a divergent reality. They continue to stick with publicizing increasing gun control restrictions on law-abiding citizens as crime is going down in many – though not all – major cities, while gun sales continue to increase at “new normal” historically high rates.

The tired scare tactic of warning “more guns means more crime” is crumbling apart as millions of law-abiding Americans are awakening to what it means to be a lawful and responsible gun owner.

Zombie Guns: Yet Another “Dangerous Loophole”

Tue, 03/26/2024 - 07:00

Gun owners and gun-rights advocates have had to put up with the creation of a number of fictional loopholes over the past several years, from the so-called gun show loophole to the alleged private sales loophole. Just when we thought things couldn’t get worse, gun banners have created yet another loophole to worry about—the “zombie gun loophole.”

Democrat U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost is trying to do something to close this dreaded loophole that apparently could cause the end of civilization as we know it if not addressed.

Retired Supreme Court Justice Believes American’s Rights Are Subject to Changing Trends

Mon, 03/25/2024 - 14:39

Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer wants America to know that today’s high court isn’t pragmatic. For good measure, he declares that he is, especially when it comes to interpretating law.

That’s not just conjecture. That’s laid out in the title to his new 250-page book, “Reading the Constitution: Why I Chose Pragmatism, Not Textualism.” It’s a gaslighting of the U.S. Constitution, an attempt to sway opinion that rights protected by the founding document aren’t applicable today, since society and technology have changed since 1791.

More States Restricting Legal Gun Carry/Possession at Polling Locations

Mon, 03/25/2024 - 13:00

Citing concerns over the safety of election workers and the escalation of political tensions, much of it blamed on former President Donald Trump’s contentious statements on the campaign trail and some of his supporters’ actions during the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol in 2021, a wave of states, predominantly under Democratic leadership, is advancing legislation aimed at prohibiting firearms at polling sites and ballot drop boxes as the presidential election approaches. This initiative is being sold by liberals as a broader effort to safeguard the electoral process from potential intimidation and violence.

The Problem with Red-Flag Laws

Mon, 03/25/2024 - 11:30

This past weekend our nation’s Vice President Kamala Harris visited the site of one of our nation’s worst school shootings to use it and some of the victims’ family members as political props to further the White House’s goal of disarming Americans. The vehicle to achieve one more part of this disarmament effort was pitched in the guise of red-flag laws, on the surface and without any real intellectual or constitutional probing, seemingly a good idea.

White House Leans Into Red Flag Laws

Mon, 03/25/2024 - 10:23

Using the political backdrop of an unspeakable day of horror to further the Biden Administration’s agenda, Vice President Kamala Harris visited Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., to encourage more states to pass red-flag laws and in states that already have them, to use federal funding to enforce those laws more vigorously. Harris also announced the creation of a federal National Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) Resource Center, which is being created to support the implementation and furtherance of red-flag laws.

WV Son Forced to Defend Family Against Father

Mon, 03/25/2024 - 08:29

When an enraged father elevated a domestic disturbance in his West Virginia home to attempted murder by firing a shotgun at his wife, his 15-year-old son turned the tables on him and said “Enough!” with a 20-gauge shotgun of his own.

According to The Gazette, the incident occurred last Wednesday night, March 20, when Maxwell Laham of Rock Cave, W.V., became involved in a fight with his wife that turned physical. At some point, Lahan grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun and fired a shot, but didn’t strike his wife or any other inhabitants—including his juvenile daughter and his son—in the home.

Obscure Object of Desire – Stevens Little Scout 14 1/2

Sun, 03/24/2024 - 18:23

A long time ago, when I was a young man at the School of Infantry, an instructor told us we were apes. He talked about how, with female Marines, he could explain to them how to do something, and they could typically do it. He told us guys that, as apes, we had to learn in a more tactile manner. I don’t know if it’s true that all men learn better with the item in their hand, but I do.

Idaho: Momentum Continues For Three Pro-Gun Bills

Sun, 03/24/2024 - 08:00

While legislators in some western states like Colorado and California continue to push more restrictions on lawful gun owners, Idaho lawmakers are soaring to the finish line with a number of pro-gun measures.

Fortunately for Idaho’s lawful gun owners, three such measures have been approved by the state legislature and sent to Republican Gov. Brad Little for consideration, while another remains in a Senate committee.

Senate Bill 1374 seeks to ensure that lawful Idahoans can carry firearms on public property during some special events and has been sent to the governor.
