The Truth About Guns

Question of the Day: How Do We Reform “Militarized” Police?
While I believe racist, trigger-happy cops are clearly the exception rather than the rule, recent events indicate that the gulf between law enforcement and citizens of color who employ them has widened. Or has it? We’ve come a long way from the days when Southern Democrat-controlled police did everything in their power – violently – to “keep the niggers in their place.” In fact, the debate over American policing should be a lot wider than whether or not they should wear body cameras. The real question is how do we create a police force we can trust and respect for all Americans?

Seasons Greetings from 5.11 Tactical
I’m not that tactical. I spent the better part of my life thinking that molle was a Mexican sauce. I suppose I should get into the operational lifestyle, being a gun blogger and all. And I used to be a dude (in the classic sense of the word), adorning myself with Zegna suits and shoes that cost more than a GLOCK 19. But the first divorce put paid to that (literally). Anyway, I may not wear multi-pocketed pants often, but when I do, they’re 5.11. And I wear them with confidence. Why wouldn’t I? They have an expandable waistline. And any company that makes a video that cool must be doing something right.

Obama Orders Gun Confiscation. In A Cartoon.
Yes, it’s an anti-gun cartoon. But this episode of Cyanide & Happiness is fun! And there’s some pro-gun stuff in there as well; like the chaos that ensues when the world’s firearms are removed by the President’s gun magnet. Anyway, in their business as in ours, you don’t cut funny.

Quote of the Day: No Time for Disarmament Edition
“The critics of our plan will say things like: ‘Guns and kids don’t mix’. They will say things like: ‘It’s a bad decision to put guns in the hands of non-trained people.’ They are people who believe in a police state. They believe that the only people who should be armed are police or military. I think that’s a scary idea at best.” – Harold (TX) Independent School District Superintendent David Thweatt in Teachers With Guns [at cnn.com]
