The Truth About Guns

Illinois Governor Takes a Premature Victory Lap After SCOTUS Declines to Block ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban
Last week, the Supreme Court declined to step in and block enforcement of Illinois’ “assault weapons” ban and magazine capacity limits while the full case works its way through the courts. This isn’t the bad news that many gun rights supporters think it is. More likely, a temporary delay of the inevitable. The high court is likely waiting until the case is fully heard on the merits before it weighs in on the subject of gun bans and ammunition restrictions.
Putting Kamala Harris in Charge of Federal Gun Control Shows How Far Down the Priority List the Issue Has Fallen
[T]he big push here is Harris asking state legislators to take up these proposals, not for the federal government. Even Harris, who adores the idea of the executive branch wielding monarchic power, sees that there is no avenue nor appetite for a grand federal gun control push. She wants to punt it to the states, where that power already belongs and where Democrats have already been talking about “assault weapons” bans and other gun control cliches for years before this.
Students Demand Action Self-Owns in Attacking Active Shooter Drills in Schools
A recent social media post by the smug hoplophobes at Michael Bloomberg’s Students Demand Action gun control group didn’t go the way they’d hoped. It went so badly, in fact, that they ended up closing comments to avoid the merciless heckling they were getting. The damaging and self-own, however, had already been done.
One the surface, it’s a typical anti-gun argument. The only thing that can save us from violence is more common-sense gun safety gun control laws.
Making the GLOCK 45 9mm Pistol the Perfect LE Gun
“When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” So said my Grandma and yours, on down through the generations. When GLOCK, Inc. submitted their Model 19X in coyote tan color for the U.S. Army modular handgun system trials, they had high hopes. Unfortunately, rather than select a handgun design with a 35-year track record for success, the Army instead chose a new, more modular pistol design.
Rather than cry in their milk, GLOCK took the lemons that the Army handed them and made lemonade in the form of the G45.

Heritage Introduces the New Badlander Side-By-Side 12 Gauge Shotgun
Street Howitzer. Scattergun. Coach gun. All of these are synonymous with the iconic shotgun of the Old West: the 12-gauge side-by-side. Now, you can experience what it would have felt like to fire two barrels of buckshot with the new Heritage Badlander.
Based on the legendary western side-by-side, the new Badlander features two 18.5-inch barrels with a more modern, corrosion-resistant black oxide coating, while retaining the simplicity and durability of the old-school design.

Lawfare: Nuns File Shareholder Lawsuit Against Smith & Wesson Over AR-15 Production
“As Catholic Sisters and women of faith who believe in the sanctity of life, our hearts ache at the exponential rise in gun deaths and mass shootings in our country that have ravaged the lives of so many children, women, men, their families, and communities. AR-15-style rifles, like those manufactured by Smith & Wesson, have been the weapon of choice for killers responsible for the deadliest mass shootings in American history,” the statement said.

Kamala Harris Rolls Out Ministry of Gun Control’s ‘Safer States Agenda’ to Push for Local Level Rights Restrictions
Back in September, the White House announced that they were establishing a new Office of Gun Violence Prevention. The stated goal? To advocate for and carry out Biden’s executive orders on gun control. But the executive branch already has armies of bureaucrats to do the executin’ and orders are supposed to be based on laws (and their faithful execution). So it’s a redundant effort, or at least one that’s meant to further politicize gun control.

Indiana Judge’s Order Exposes Personal Information of Hundreds of Thousands of Indiana Gun Owners
By Lee Williams
Gary v. Glock is a 24-year-old lawsuit that refuses to die.
Attorneys for the Brady gun control operation filed the lawsuit on behalf of the City of Gary, Indiana in 1999. At that time, more than 40 cities filed similar lawsuits, which sought to hold gun makers and dealers liable for murders that were committed using firearms.
Some of the manufacturers named as defendants included GLOCK, Smith & Wesson, Colt, Sturm Ruger & Co., Beretta USA Corp.
Sit Back and Enjoy as Hunter Biden Defends Himself by Contradicting His Father’s Views on Gun Control
As Hunter Biden’s lawyer notes, the standard laid out in Bruen is that any law that is “inconsistent with this nation’s historical tradition on firearm regulation” should be held to be presumptively unconstitutional. Because neither the Founding generation nor the Reconstruction generation imposed a total prohibition on drug users purchasing or possessing firearms, Hunter Biden’s team suggests, their client cannot be prosecuted for having refused to divulge his addiction when he bought a gun.
Horwitz et al.: Stricter Limits on Gun Rights is the Only Way to Preserve Our Democracy
A recent paper released by Johns Hopkins’ Bloomberg School of Public Health not only exposes the real purpose of gun control, but also shows that the school is rather unserious about the promotion of actual public health.
Entitled “Preventing Armed Insurrection: Firearms in Political Spaces Threaten Public Health, Safety, and Democracy,” you’d think the authors would be actual public health professionals, doctors, or, well, anyone with public health expertise. Instead it’s written by three lawyers including Josh Horwitz.

Hoplophobes’ Hopes Crushed: Homicides Down in Florida Now That Permitless Carry is Law
Florida’s permitless carry law has been in effect for almost six months now. It’s too early for statewide data, but I looked up a couple of cities that report their data regularly. At this time last year, Miami had 84 homicides. This year it is at 74. For Jacksonville, it was 159 at this time last year compared to 145 this year.
We’ll have to wait for statewide data of course, but so far, the usual predictions of a huge surge in homicides due to permitless carry haven’t panned out.

Bloomberg Goes to Bat for the Gun Violence Archive as it Faces Funding Questions
By Lee Williams
Whenever Bloomberg Businessweek writes about firearms or the Second Amendment, it’s forced to disclose to its readers that the publication is owned by a rabid anti-gunner.
No one has spent more of their personal wealth to infringe on Second Amendment rights than former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg. So, when the topic is guns, his mainstream newswire adds a strange disclaimer, which labels the work as propaganda for the boss, not news .
Kopel: Why Does Colorado Allow Law Enforcement to Carry the Tools of Mass Killers?
The magazine ban attempts to divorce today’s common arms of law-abiding citizens from today’s common arms of law enforcement officers, including sheriffs and their deputies. The divorce, contrary to the wishes of both parties, endangers citizens and officers alike.
The arms of ordinary law enforcement officers are carefully selected for only one purpose: lawful defense of innocents in civil society. Throughout American history, many citizens have looked to law enforcement for guidance in choosing arms for the same purpose.
Why The ACLU is Defending the NRA in the Supreme Court
If you’re on the right side of the political spectrum, you probably don’t think much of the ACLU. After all, they’ve gone to bat for all manner of unpopular individuals including including nazis, satanic churches, and even child molesters. One the most notorious cases that earned them almost universal hate was when they defended NAMBLA (the North American Man-Boy Love Association). So, yes, it’s no exaggeration to say they’ve defended actual child molesters.
You probably also know that one of the civil liberties they’ve been noticeably shy about defending is the right to keep and bear arms.
