New 2nd Amendment Caucus?

Mon, 01/04/2021 - 09:21

Yea, yeah I know. We’ve heard this before. Massie is a good man though. He is a Rep. of mine, and he has stood up for things when it counted. Even making Bad Orange Man angry at him for not tossing his conservative values out the for political expedience.

But like all things in D.C. we will just have to watch with a cynical eye. And don’t even think you can count on them for anything. Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised.

Need a CCW holster for your Luger?

Mon, 01/04/2021 - 08:58

Garritysgunleather.com has you covered.

It would never cross my mind to carry a Luger but apparently it occurred to someone. The spare mag holder is even a nice touch.

According to Garrity, this Luger has been cut down. I know that will make some Luger fanatics cry a little.

The Ultimate Back Up Pistol

Wed, 12/30/2020 - 22:35

This one popped up on the SOG Vet facebook page. The M79 cut down and used as a little bit of portable indirect fire. Usually hung off of the web gear with a snap hook. One of the guys said they weren’t a bit accurate, but was great at breaking contact.

We’re live, sorta

Mon, 12/28/2020 - 06:45

Alright, sometime shortly after this post goes live I am going to push the test site to live. I just downloaded our 37.1GB site backup.

It isn’t finished, but it is good enough at the moment.

Please post any comments, suggestions, or hate as a reply to this post, so it can be promptly ignored.

Side note, 5.56 Timeline is getting its own subdomain. Check out 556timeline.looserounds.com

Couple of minor notes:
On the new site, our SQL database is under half the size of our old site. Something was causing excessive bloat. I don’t know what, but our backend is leaner now.
We switched to the Newspaper theme. It isn’t quite set up the way we want, but it is close. What is nice is that it has built into it several of the features we were using plugins for. Hopefully not having to use those plugins will increase performance and reduce server CPU usage.

But who knows? It is not like I know what I am doing.

Expect things to be pretty broken as I work on this. Let me know how much you hate the new layout by responding to this post.

The all weapons WW2 IG page has tossed up this one. I had no idea this existed. But I am intrigued enough to see what I can dig up on it and provide. I even doubted that this thing was really used until seeing the below picture.

Vintage Gun Leather Today

Tue, 12/22/2020 - 10:12

They have an original Galco/ Jack Ass shoulder holster. This is the exact same as used by Don Johnson in Miami Vice. If you are like me and always looking for a last minute Xmas give for yourself, this would be a great one. Better hurry though.

A Nice Pre 64 Model 70 in .220 Swift

Tue, 12/22/2020 - 09:47

One of the fellas shared his very nice Pre 64 Model 70 in the classic .220 Swift. The vintage box of ammo real goes nicely with it. He said the price sticker on the box was $1.07 Imagine that. The rifle is topped with a 4x Weaver in Weaver bases and rings. A very nice walk/stalking varmint rig even for today.

The swift is not a bad round and no doubt was the king of velocity for many years. I have found that to get truly great accuracy from the swift, you have to back your load down to .22-250 velocities and when you do that, then what’s the point? The 22-250 is a better round and if you can’t at least get more velocity from the swift then…
