I have two guns, one for each of you

Fri, 02/24/2017 - 13:28
In this video, I take a look at one of my favorite Hollywood tropes – firing two guns at once. But instead of just playing around, I take a hard look at whether or not it’s more effective than firing one gun with two hands on it. If you like what we’re doing, consider supporting … Continue reading "I have two guns, one for each of you"

Low light training

Thu, 02/23/2017 - 11:30
As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m a huge believer in WML for defensive handguns, especially guns that are going to be used for home defense. In today’s video, I spend some time on the range working on manipulating the light in the dark and incorporating challenging into my training. Buy a Crimson Trace Railmaster … Continue reading "Low light training"

The Hollywood Headshot

Tue, 02/21/2017 - 15:40
Things that annoy me: in Hollywood movies and TV shows when they shoot dudes in the middle of the forehead. So I made a video explaining why.

The Gun Nuts Handgun Evaluation Protocol

Tue, 02/14/2017 - 17:59
As I wrap up a year of testing 1911s and get back to testing all manner of guns, I realized I needed a replacement for the 10-8 Performance 1911 Test. The 10-8 Performance Test is designed to test the extraction and primary function of the 1911 to ensure it’s suitable for duty. I was specifically … Continue reading "The Gun Nuts Handgun Evaluation Protocol"

Mon, 02/06/2017 - 11:51
I’m never going to be one of those people who gets up on a drum and preaches that the world is going to hell in a handbasket, because as bad as things are, they could be a lot worse. That being said, I did just buy a set of plates and a plate carrier. I … Continue reading "Capitalism"

Rock Island Armory 1911 mud test

Wed, 02/01/2017 - 15:18
Torture tests are stupid. Mud tests are stupid. I am stupid. So I did a mud test. I PROBABLY could have used a bucket and made the mud a bit wetter and gooier, but let’s be honest, dropping your gun then stomping it simulates 99% of most “worst case” scenarios. Support out nonsense!

Five Best Guns for Concealed Carry

Fri, 01/13/2017 - 11:37
Yes, this is a list video, and no I don’t feel bad about it. It is an honest assessment of the guns I regularly recommend for concealed carry. I actually end up recommending the Glock 19 a lot more than I recommend the P229, because people tend to balk at paying nearly $1,000 for a … Continue reading "Five Best Guns for Concealed Carry"

Do you need a weapon mounted light?

Mon, 12/12/2016 - 17:22
The short answer? Yes. I strongly believe in WML for home defense guns, because sometimes you need to make sure the thing you’re about to shoot actually needs to be shot.

Winter Concealed Carry Tips

Wed, 11/30/2016 - 19:46
Do you live somewhere with actual cold weather? I do. So I decided to try and figure out what the most effective way to carry a gun in the winter time was. I maybe succeeded. What I didn’t succeed at was having consistent audio levels.

Which is better for defensive shooting, IDPA or USPSA?

Wed, 11/23/2016 - 13:11
Well, it’s the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and I felt like beating an already dead horse just a little bit harder. But in all seriousness, I get asked this question a lot: “If I can only do one shooting sport, which one should it be?” Hey, it’s almost Black Friday, why don’t you buy some of … Continue reading "Which is better for defensive shooting, IDPA or USPSA?"
