Barack Obama has less than 100 days left until his time as president is over.  He's likely to go down in history as the greatest gun salesman ever, responsible for the sale of about 150 million guns during his eight years.  That's impressive.

2015 weekend tally: 8 killed, 24 wounded
2014 weekend tally: 9 killed, 27 wounded

That’s 7 shot and killed.  One more homicide victim got run over by an automobile, per Second City Cop.

That brings homicides to 8 – same as last year, only with almost three times as many people shot this year compared to last (and 2014 for that matter).

Media Matters for America is trying to make hay of Sheriff David Clarke’s criticisms of Hillary Clinton’s shrill calls for gun control as a panacea for violent crime and her desire to implement gun confiscations if elected president.

The interview that MMFA posted also contained Clarke weighing in on the “Gun Free Zone” foolishness.

“The only person that is safe in a gun-free zone is the criminal,” Clark said.

80,452 NRA members (of the 5+ million members) showed up for the NRA Annual Convention in Louisville this past weekend.  It ranked as the second largest behind a recent Houston meeting where 86,000 showed up.

Moms Demand Action now claims over 3 million members.  We don’t know if they counted those Facebook “Likes” they might have “bought”, but in any event, only “dozens” of those three million showed up to counter the big, bad NRA.

Perhaps it’s like a couple of years ago in Indianapolis where Bloomberg paid to fly in about 120 MDA members and victims of criminal violence to Indy, paying their air fare, lodging, food, etc. and then not even a third of them could show up for an hour to protest.  That’s real dedication there!

The Sangamon County Guns Save Life for the month of May has been scheduled for Monday, May 9th at the Scheel’s Store in Springfield.

Our SCGSL meeting is traditionally on the First Monday of each month, but this month we’ll be meeting on the second Monday.

Checking out the awesome store…  Come early.  There’s a LOT to look at, lots to buy, and games and entertainment.

Dinner and conversation start at 5pm.

The meeting starts at 7pm.

It’s *awesome*.  Tickets in the “lower bowl” are about $15.

Shows at 1pm and 7pm Saturday.

Seriously, if you don’t have plans, take the kids/grandkids, or the spouse or a date and enjoy a great time.

Chicago’s statistical wizards like to count people who decapitate themselves with an electric chainsaw as “suicides” to help keep the ghastly homicide numbers at merely a twenty-year high.

Our friends in the Second City sent us this photograph minutes ago from the 3500 block of West Chicago.  Barely an hour since they committed suicide together.

The question is:  Do black lives matter to other blacks?

Silly bigots.

Is she barking mad?

She may or may not be barking mad, but her campaign is dog-paddling as she’s circling the drain.

Guns Save Life is pleased to announce a new discussion forum for Illinois gun owners, coming this late spring.  Well, it’s actually probably going to launch before then, but we’d rather under promise and over deliver.

It’ll be a place to go for both Guns Save Life members and non-members as well, although non-members will have scaled back privileges.

We’ll be having a meeting with key people in the next two weeks to iron out some of the implementation parameters and basic set-up, give it another month for development, another for beta testing and then we’ll turn it loose.

We’re proud of our motto at Guns Save Life:  “We defend your right to defend yourself“.

So imagine our surprise to see the title of NRA’s Executive Vice-President Wayne LaPierre mentioning something very close to our long-time motto in his latest column appearing in NRA publications.

We’re humbled.

Once again, showing how seamlessly Guns Save Life and the NRA work together.

Isn’t it ironic that Facebook, Instagram, Backpage and Craigslist proudly crow about banning sales of a legal item among law-abiding peoples, but turn a blind eye to drug and prostitution ads.

We suppose if you don’t find recreational enjoyment from shooting, we suppose life would be far more boring than necessary.  At that point, prostitution and recreational drug use might be more appealing.
