Running aground is something that happens to all of us. Especially if you regularly fish backwater flats and lagoons, it’s simply bound to happen sooner or later. And truth be told, most of the time it’s no big deal. Every now and again, however, serious damage will occur. The worst thing is, the damage isn’t […]

The Importance of  Firearms Training for Gun Owners If you plan to own a gun for self-defense, I’m a huge proponent of firearms training. Not just the “once upon a time” firearms course, and definitely not the short Concealed Handgun License class, but ever expanding, personally challenging, diverse training courses that will give you confidence […]

“IT BLEW MY LEG OFF!” ~ Idiot vs Tannerite [VIDEO]

Fri, 03/25/2016 - 12:07

Binary explosives can be a blast when you follow the instructions properly.  But you will always find someone who needs a life lesson to learn otherwise.  Often those slow learners are missing appendages.  Case in point:

Manufactures instructions warn to be at least 100 yards away for the powerful 1 pound and larger centerfire targets, and clear the area of any debris.  Detonating a target inside a machine with blades from 44′ is a recipe for disaster.

Learn from this guy: don’t be an idiot.

Also, always place a courtesy call to the local sheriff when getting your ‘Merica on, it makes life easier for everyone.

Mule deer tag – $410,000; Montana bighorn license – $305,000

Thu, 03/03/2016 - 13:00

Sporting Classics Daily recently ran the story of a mule deer tag that went for $410,000 at auction. In Montana a bighorn license went for $305,000 at auction

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks auctioned off the license in January for the 2016 season. According to KPAX 8, the winning bidder was a member of the Wild Sheep Foundation. Of his bid, 90 percent — $274,500 — will go to the FWP’s sheep conservation efforts.

Each year, 150 sheep tags are issued for Montana via a lottery. Of those, less than one percent will be drawn, giving a select few a chance at the state’s roughly 5,000 sheep spread across 3.7 million acres.

The highest bid on a Montana sheep hunt was set in 2013, when Douglas Leech paid $480,000 for the privilege of hunting the mountain kings. In 2014 and 2015 the licenses were auctioned for $320,000 each.
