Police ID Allen Texas Mall Shooter as 33-Year-Old Mauricio Garcia

The gunman who killed eight people at a Texas outlet mall was identified as a person who had been staying at a nearby motel, but his motive was a mystery Sunday, a day after the attack turned an afternoon of shopping into a massacre.
Three law enforcement officials who spoke to The Associated Press named the gunman as Mauricio Garcia, 33, who was fatally shot Saturday by a police officer who happened to be near the suburban Dallas mall.

Eight Dead as Shooter Opens Fire Outside Shopping Mall in Allen, Texas

A gunman stepped out of a silver sedan and started shooting people at a Dallas-area outlet mall Saturday, killing eight and wounding seven others — three critically — before being killed by a police officer who happened to be nearby, authorities said.
Authorities did not immediately provide details about the victims at Allen Premium Outlets, a sprawling outdoor shopping center, but witnesses reported seeing children among them.

Americans Are Increasingly Saying Something That Joe Biden Doesn’t Want to Hear
President Joe Biden and his gun control advisors won’t like this news.
One of the most consistently accurate and reputable polling organizations found more Americans oppose one of the president’s top gun control goals than support it. Monmouth found nearly half of Americans – 49 percent – oppose a federal ban on so-called “assault weapons.”
The poll was released just days after the president once again called for a national ban on modern sporting rifles (MSRs).
DeSantis: Bans on Gun Sales to Adults Under 21 Will be Ruled Unconstitutional
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) says he supports lowering the minimum age to buy a rifle from 21 to 18:

I said at the time, remember when they raised (the age to buy a gun from 18 to 21 in Florida), I objected to it because I said it was unconstitutional.

Seventh Circuit Judge Uses Flawed Interest Balancing Ruling to Justify Restoration of Illinois Gun Ban
A Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals judge has stayed the preliminary injunction issued a week ago by a lower court. That restores the Land of Lincoln’s new gun and magazine ban. Judge Stephen McGlynn from the Southern District of Illinois had previously ruled that plaintiff would likely prevail against the ban and blocked enforcement of the ban, restoring sales of the newly-banned items.
The state appealed the decision within hours and when McGlynn didn’t immediately reverse himself, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul appealed to the Seventh Circuit.

So, who here remembers Kyle Rittenhouse and the guy with a skateboard? Everyone? Good. How about a woman with a gun who was assaulted by another woman with a pogo stick?
Apparently in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a dispute broke out in a parking lot between two women. Whatever caused the altercation, it apparently made one of the woman feel she needed to grab the closest bludgeoning weapon at hand — a pogo stick.
How the Authors of the Washington Post/Trace Hit Piece on the SIG SAUER P320 Faceplanted
We wrote back in August of 2021 about the slowly accumulating lawsuits against SIG SAUER. A small, but growing number of people — mostly police officers — were claiming that the P320 pistol was prone to what their attorneys called “un-commanded discharges.”
ABC News had just aired a couple of reports on the lawsuits, interviewing one of the officers involved and her attorney, Jeffrey Bagnell. Bagnell made the case for the cameras that if all of these highly skilled and extensively trained individuals — cops — were having problems, something must be wrong with the guns.
Go Figure: Anti-Gun Democrat-Run Cities With ‘Progressive’ Prosecutors Have the Highest Homicide Rates
Democrat-led cities across America have a serious violent crime problem. They also have an even bigger homicide problem. While crime has risen to some degree in most locales since 2021, cities with Democrat leadership saw the biggest increases.
The sole exception to the cities with the highest growth in homicide comes from the Dallas suburb of Garland, Texas. However Garland’s prosecutor, Dallas County DA John Creuzot, won his last election thanks in large part to a $400,000 contribution from George Soros.
SAF, Gottlieb File Federal Civil Rights Lawsuit Against Washington AG and 3 Assistant AGs
The Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and their CEO Alan Gottlieb, have filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson and members of his staff, alleging that Ferguson has used the power of his office to chill the activities of SAF, which are aimed at protecting and expanding Second Amendment rights.
The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

LKB, in comments on the story TTAG published last Saturday, suggests that our publicity will be used against us in subsequent hearings.
