Highland Park Parade Shooter’s Father Indicted for Reckless Conduct, Helping His Son Get a ‘Weapon of War’

An Illinois grand jury on Wednesday formally indicted the father of a man charged with fatally shooting seven people at a Fourth of July parade in suburban Chicago, the Lake County State’s Attorney Office said.
The indictment charges Robert Crimo Jr., 58, with seven counts of reckless conduct. Prosecutors have said he helped his son, Robert Crimo III, obtain a gun license years before the shooting in Highland Park, even though the then-19-year-old had threatened violence.

We all have our favorite guns, and I’m no different. Something about the design and cosmetics of certain arms speak to me, but I’m not exclusive to any single brand. In the safe right now are semi-auto handguns from Colt, FN, GLOCK, Ruger, and SIG Sauer, and rifles from Remington, Savage, Beretta, Daniel Defense, F-1, and Mossberg. Many of them are transients, sure, but, occasionally, something will stick.

What We Know About Campus Shootings and the Killers Who Carry Them Out

A gunman opened fire at Michigan State University on Feb. 13, 2023, killing three people and injuring five others before taking his own life.
A lot is still unknown about the campus attack. Police have yet to release a motive and said the 43-year-old man responsible did not have any known connections to the university.

A coalition of mayors recently gathered to discuss violent crime prevention in their cities. Only 10 of America’s many mayors chair this group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), which is part of Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety gun control group. At their latest summit, the coalition ratified its position that the firearm and ammunition industry is unwilling to take steps to reduce gun violence.
The problem is that MAIG’s position simply is not grounded in reality.

Gear Review: Meta Tactical Apex GLOCK Bullpup Carbine Conversion Kit
SHOT Show 2022 introduced me to the Meta Tactical’s Apex conversion kits. I’m a fan of the out-there and the unique, so these kits most certainly appealed to me. Meta Tactical was kind enough to send me an Apex kit to test and review.
Let’s get this out of the way first: the Meta Tactical Apex is not a gun, but a conversion kit. It takes your GLOCK firearm and converts it to a bullpup carbine with a 16-inch barrel.

Michigan State Shooter Shot Himself As Police Closed In
A gunman who opened fire at Michigan State University killed three people and wounded five, setting off an hourslong manhunt as frightened students hid in classrooms and cars. The shooter eventually killed himself, police announced early Tuesday.
Police said Tuesday that the gunman was 43-year-old Anthony McRae. Police also say five people who are in critical condition Tuesday are also students.
Officials do not know why McRae targeted the campus. He was not a student or employee and had no affiliation with the university, according to campus police.

BREAKING: At Least 3 Dead, 5 Wounded at Michigan State University… Suspect Now Dead
Police in Lansing, MI continue their search for the suspect or suspects responsible for multiple shootings on campus this evening. CNN reports that at least three have died and five more have been wounded.
The incident began in Berkey Hall where people were shot in a couple of first floor classrooms. About an hour later, more were shot at an intramural building known as IM East.
Update: Suspect kills himself as police approach.

Gun Review: Taylor’s & Company TC9 1873 SA Single Action Revolver
I want to like the older Cowboy-style revolvers. Who doesn’t? I grew up with a dad who loved westerns, so my first exposure to guns outside of our hunting rifles and shotguns was cowboys slinging six-shooters.

Concealed Carry Pro Tip: Don’t Pack a Gun Around an MRI Machine
As the New York Post reports . . . “A Brazilian lawyer tragically died after his gun was discharged by an MRI machine’s magnetic field at the hospital.”
The freak accident occurred on January 16 while the gun-loving lawyer, named Leandro Mathias de Novaes, was taking his mother to get scanned at the Laboratorio Cura in São Paulo, Jam Press reported. Unbeknownst to hospital staff, the attorney had a registered firearm in his possession.
