The Gun Ban Industry Works Daily to Keep Women Vulnerable to Domestic Violence

Fri, 12/09/2022 - 10:00

By Lee Williams

The worst domestic violence I have ever seen involved a woman whose husband was out on bond for blinding their son with a baseball bat. He had struck the child so viciously he lost his eyesight. The woman had a temporary protection order against her husband, and a court date for another hearing. She never made the second hearing.

I was a rookie cop when I first met her.

Business Marketing Platform Podium Cancels All Its Gun-Related Customers

Fri, 12/09/2022 - 08:00

Podium, which calls itself the country’s leading communication and payments platform for local businesses, has dropped its customers that sell guns. The company best known for texting and messaging marketing changed its terms of service last month to make all “firearms-related businesses, activities, or transactions” to be “prohibited.”

This comes after Podium paid to advertise, bought exhibition space at the nation’s largest firearms trade show and actively pursued business with gun dealers, according to documents from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).

Austin, Texas police officers responded to a call of a man acting erratically outside of his home. The homeowner, carrying an AR pattern rifle, fired two shots into his own home as APD officers rolled up. Subsequent reports claim the man thought his home has been burglarized.

The responding officers likely heard the second shot as they arrived. Moments later, one of the cops yelled for the man, Rajan Moonesinghe, to “throw the gun” then, without pausing, the officer, armed with a patrol rifle, immediately opens fire.

Wisniewski: Every Legal Right a Gun Controller Doesn’t Like is a ‘Loophole’

Thu, 12/08/2022 - 08:00

Progressives have been good at winning the language battle in recent years — particularly by manipulating language to evoke certain images and to lead to their desired conclusions. A prime example is their use of the word “loophole,” defined as “a means of escape, especially: an ambiguity or omission in the text through which the intent of a statute, contract, or obligation may be evaded.” When someone accuses another of exploiting a loophole, he implies that the other is escaping some legal obligation, exploiting a technicality to violate the “spirit” of the law.

San Francisco Reverses Course, Prohibits Use of ‘Killer Robots’ by Police

Wed, 12/07/2022 - 16:00

in the end, it was probably only a matter of time before San Francisco, America’s wokest city, caved to the hand-wringing and pearl-clutching of the political left. That city’s board of supervisors has now reversed an earlier decision and rescinded its approval for police to use lethal robots against barricaded suspects in extreme, life-threatening scenarios to protect officers and others from death or injury.

We covered it last month, discussing how police have long had the ability to deliver lethal force via a robot in the case of extremely dangerous violent suspects.

Everyday Carry Chronicles: The Truth About ‘Israeli Carry’

Wed, 12/07/2022 - 12:00

For the most part, The People of the Gun have little time for “Israeli carry.” They scoff at the idea of carrying a pistol with an empty chamber. “Why add an extra step to a defensive gun use, especially when adrenaline is flowing and time is short?” Safety? “Keep your finger off the trigger!” Yes, well, let’s take a look at the history of this carry method and current state of Israeli method in Israel.

Killadelphia: Gas Station Owner Hires Heavily Armed Security to Protect Customers

Wed, 12/07/2022 - 10:00

Welcome to Philadelphia, land of gas station robberies and carjackings, to say nothing of organized retail theft. In short, Philly has devolved into a cesspool of violent crime to the pont that one gas station owner has had enough. He’s hired heavily armed security guards to patrol his business while packing long guns.

When most normals see ostentatious levels of security, we usually ask ourselves if we’ve found ourself in an unsafe environment.

BREAKING: Court Blocks Oregon’s Ballot Measure 114

Tue, 12/06/2022 - 17:08

Well, that didn’t take long.  Moments ago, a judge in Oregon blocked enforcement of Oregon’s Ballot Measure 114.  Judge Richard Raschio placed a temporary restraining order on the law which would have taken effect Thursday, December 8th.  Guns Owners of America and the GOA Foundation are the organizations behind this along with Gliff Asmussen and Joseph Arnold.

Clearly this is good news for the law-abiding good guys in Oregon.  It also spells bad news for the Measure 114 advocates and politicians in other states that think they can pass draconian gun control measures in a post-Bruen world.

Americans Aren’t Buying More Gun Control…They’re Buying More Guns

Tue, 12/06/2022 - 13:00

Historic numbers of law-abiding Americans joined the gun-owning community for the first time in recent years, including large numbers of women and minorities. National gun control groups at the same time continue to shout for stricter gun control laws.

As Americans take up their rights, tune out the gun control industry, and personally navigate the process to legally buy a firearm, one thing’s becoming clearer. They reject stricter gun control.

Nearly 40 million firearms were legally purchased by Americans between January 2020 and December 2021.

Charles: Let’s Finally Be Honest, Democrats’ Gun Control Laws Are Racist to Their Core

Tue, 12/06/2022 - 08:00

In 2021, there were 142 fatalities for every 100,000 Black Americans, a 74 percent increase since 2014 and a figure that dwarfs the homicide rate for other races. “Homicide rates are as much as 23 times higher among Black men, and as much as nearly four times higher among Hispanic men than among white men,” the WSJ analysis found.

Unfortunately, the people who run the cities where Black Americans live are not up to the task of addressing this problem.

Armed Citizen Chronicles: Phoenix Defender Shoots, Kills a Man Who Drew His Gun During an Argument

Mon, 12/05/2022 - 16:00

Everyone has a gun in Arizona. Or so it seems. On Friday evening, at 5:30pm, Jorge Aguila Rodriguez, aged 45 — old enough to know better — got into an argument with another man while working in his neighborhood. Instead of packing up and going home for the weekend, Jorge pulled a pistol.

On the other side of the equation, the other unidentified man drew his own Roscoe in response and ended the threat.

Optics Review: Atibal HYBRID12 1-12x MPVO Scope

Mon, 12/05/2022 - 14:00

It isn’t every day that we see an entirely new category of gun or gear created, but this is exactly what the Atibal HYBRID12 scope has done. With a maximum zoom of 12x, it’s just too much magnification to call this thing an LPVO, or low power variable optic. Heck, Atibal’s X 1-10x was already pushing it, but the HYBRID12 1-12x pushed it over the edge. Welcome to a new category, the MPVO or medium power variable optic.

Gunfire Against Electrical Substation Sends Tens of Thousands Into Darkness in North Carolina

Mon, 12/05/2022 - 12:00

Gunfire raked multiple pieces of large equipment at a 230kV substation in Moore County, North Carolina Saturday evening, plunging about 40,000 residents into darkness. Because of the type of “sophisticated” equipment that was damaged, those folks will remain in the dark for at least a few more days.

Authorities didn’t release information on how many shots caused the failure or the type of firearms used.

Half of Moore County woke up without power Sunday morning following reported attacks at multiple substations Saturday night.
