The Truth About Guns

Here’s the Right Way to Give Someone a Firearm as a Gift
With gift-buying season upon us, it’s natural for gun owners who enjoy target shooting, hunting, collecting or just plain plinking to want to share their enjoyment of firearms with others. What better way to do that than to gift a firearm to a family member, close friend or relative?
The first thing to remember if you’re thinking about giving someone a gun is that ownership of a firearm brings with it some serious responsibilities and legal obligations that other consumer products don’t.

Gangs Hunting, Assassinating Rivals for Sport in Chicago [VIDEO]
Murder City, USA has long been recognized as America’s largest open-air shooting range. With police effectively prohibited from chasing suspects, along with politicians, prosecutors and courts that refuse to hold bad guys accountable, it’s easy to see why the streets now belong to the criminals. Now, a just-released video shows just how bad things have become.
In the video, an apparent gang member pulls a gun on another man leaving a convenience store.
The New York Times Has Ideas on How to Handle a Guest Who Wants to Carry a Gun to Thanksgiving Dinner
[ED: We originally ran this post back in November, 2016, but it’s every bit as good today. Enjoy.]
New York Times scribe Philip Galanes writes a regular column called “Social Q’s” in the Grey Lady’s Fashion & Style section. It’s kind of a “Dear Abby” style column addressing readers’ question about social etiquette.
Last week, an aghast correspondent asked how to handle a Thanksgiving guest who (gasp!) might be carrying a gun.
Career Criminal and ‘Justice Reform Advocate’ Killed In Washington D.C. With an Illegal Gun at His Side
Despite a mountain of gun control laws in Washington, D.C., a man driving a stolen car didn’t have any compunction about packing an illegal gun too. What’s more, after colliding with a “social justice advocate” at 5:30 a.m., the driver of the boosted car didn’t hesitate to use it to kill Kevin Blowe.
The case grows more interesting as it turns out that the deceased social justice warrior also ignored D.C.’s extensive gun control laws and was illegally carrying a gun, too.
Shooting Spree At Chesapeake, VA Walmart Leaves Six Plus Killer Dead; Report Claims Shooter Was a Store Manager
Reports say a Walmart store manager in Chesapeake, Virginia went off the deep end and began shooting people inside the store last night. The shooter used a handgun to kill six and wound a number of others before being shot and killed himself. WAVY reports the incident began in the back of the store during an employee meeting.
The first calls to 911 came in at about 10:12p Tuesday evening. Customers and store staff were both present in the store at the time.
Ouch! New York’s Ban on Carrying Guns on Private Property Without Express Permission is Failing Miserably
Another one of New York’s new restrictions imposed in the immediate aftermath of the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision is the private property exclusion. That new provision makes it a felony for a license holder to possess a firearm on all private property, unless the relevant property holders actually permit such possession with a sign or by express consent….
Property owners indeed have the right to exclude.
Again: Judge Blocks New York’s Private Property Gun Ban
From the Second Amendment Foundation . . .
A federal judge in western New York has granted a preliminary injunction against enforcement of the “private property exclusion” tenet of the state’s new gun control law, calling it unconstitutional.
The case, known as Christian et. al. v. Nigrelli, et. al., was brought by the Second Amendment Foundation and Firearms Policy Coalition on behalf of Brett Christian, a private citizen.

Unarmed Ex Army Platoon Leader Helped Take Down the Colorado Springs Shooter
By Jesse Bedayn and Sam Metz, AP
When army veteran Rich Fierro realized a gunman was spraying bullets inside the club where he had gathered with friends and family, instincts from his military training immediately kicked in.
First he ducked to avoid any potential incoming fire, then he moved to try to disarm the shooter.
“It’s the reflex. Go! Go to the fire. Stop the action. Stop the activity.
Self Defense Stories: A Week of Everyday Heroes
By Rob Morse
I write about armed self-defense every week. We record these news stories and the discussion of them on the Self-Defense Gun Stories podcast. This week’s were amazing in that they went from the typical to some that sound like scenes from an action movie.
The common theme across all of them is ordinary people saving lives, including their own. As simple as these stories may sound, there is a lot we can learn from them.

Why Didn’t Colorado’s ‘Red Flag’ Law Prevent the Club Q Shooting?
By Alex McCourt, Johns Hopkins University
The killing of five patrons in a Colorado LGBTQ bar on Nov. 19, 2022, is the latest mass shooting to garner headlines in the U.S.
Police have said they have yet to determine a motive. But one thing that has emerged is that the suspect had a history of violent plans, having allegedly threatened to attack his mother with a homemade bomb more than a year before the attack at Club Q.
San Antonio Man Defends His Mother From Assault, Now May Face ‘Deadly Conduct’ Charge
In San Antonio, Texas, a man saw his mother viciously attacked by his stepfather and demanded the attack stop. Unfortunately a sternly-worded warning failed to end the assault. That’s when the man accessed a firearm and repeated his demand for Dear Ol’ Stepdad to quit pummeling the woman.
When that failed, the son opened fire, striking his mother’s attacker a number of times. The attack was stopped and the stepdad is now resting not-so-comfortably in critical condition.
Gallup Finds Support for More Gun Control Laws Has Fallen Across the Board
Americans’ support for stricter U.S. gun laws has receded after sharply increasing in the wake of two mass shootings in Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, New York, in the spring. Specifically, 57% of U.S. adults now think laws covering the sale of firearms should be made more strict, down from 66% in June. Still, current support is above the 52% measured in October 2021 and matches the 2020 reading.

Comedian Alex Stein Confronts AR-Toting Antifa ‘Security’ Guards in Denton, Texas [VIDEO]
Antifa thugs dressed in Black Bloc gear while toting rifles stood guard outside a drag queen story hour in Denton, Texas over the weekend. With rifle-toting “security” on guard, locals and others protested the event outside. Among them, comedian Alex Stein trolled them heavily sporting a big grin.
The presence of the masked and armed Antifa member kept most of the counter-demonstrators away. While in Texas, any law-abiding citizen can open carry a long gun, that doesn’t entitle them to block public sidewalks or streets.
Another ‘Known Wolf’ – The Colorado Springs Shooter Should Have Been in Prison
What does someone have to do in Colorado Springs to be arrested, prosecuted and tossed in jail. A lot, it seems, but making a bomb threat that results in the evacuation of a neighborhood and being charged with felony kidnapping don’t seem to be enough to bring the law down on you.
Colorado Springs’ criminal element has surely taken note.
The piece of human detritus that opened fire in the Club Q gay nightclub Saturday night and murdered five people was no stranger to local law enforcement.
Gun-Hating Media Recycle NRA Instructor’s Support For Gun Control After Colorado Springs Shooting
Meet Steven Lollo. He’s supposedly an NRA firearms instructor working at the Long Island Shooters Club. He spoke in support of gun control after the Bruen decision came down this past summer. Mr. Lollo’s comments are now getting recycled on social media following the shooting in a Colorado Springs gay nightclub this past weekend.
Something called the “Newstokss” media outlet on the CCP-owned Tik Tok platform found this guy talking about his support for stricter gun control laws.
Murder City’s Eloquent Mayor Says She’s ‘Sick Of This Sh*t’ After Colorado Springs Shooting
Murder City, USA Mayor Lori Lightfoot tweeted out a rather eloquent quote this past weekend. She wrote, “I’m sick of this sh*t.”
However, she wasn’t commenting on the 15 people who were killed in Chicago this past week or the 653 who have been murdered so far this year under her watch. No, those lives didn’t matter to her as much as the five who were killed in Colorado Springs.
I’m sick of this shit.
