Election Analysis: It’s the Guns, Stupid!

Fri, 11/29/2024 - 07:00

Following President Donald Trump’s resounding victory, former Speaker of the House (and possible evil incarnate) Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) whined about gun rights voters to the New York Times.

In an interview with Times reporter Lulu Garcia-Navarro, Pelosi stated that cultural issues played an important role in the 2024 election. Garcia-Navarro asked the former House Speaker, “why did voters who earned less than $100,000 go for Trump in such large numbers?” Pelosi responded in part, “Well, there are cultural issues involved in elections as well… Guns, that’s an issue.”

Pelosi’s forthright acknowledgement of the gun vote is welcome public recognition of the powerful role gun owners play in American politics.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thu, 11/28/2024 - 06:30

As Thanksgiving marks a season of gratitude, we want to take a moment to reflect on all the blessings we have in this country, particularly the freedoms that make our way of life so special. At the heart of these freedoms is our right to bear arms, a fundamental part of our history and identity. This Thanksgiving let’s remember how firearms played a vital role not only in ensuring our survival but also in bringing people together during the very first Thanksgiving.

Everytown Wants You To Argue About Guns At Thanksgiving Dinner

Wed, 11/27/2024 - 16:00

If you’re like me, you probably don’t have that many gun-ban advocates in your family. And the ones that lean in that direction likely aren’t quick to bring it up at rare family social occasions.

In fact, with three generations of concealed carry practitioners gathered around the family table for Thanksgiving dinner, my family’s celebration of thanks is likely the most dangerous place a deranged individual could choose to attack. ’Nuff said.

Polite families typically don’t talk politics during holiday meals, especially a holiday set aside to give thanks for our many blessings.

Taurus Reintroduces the Taurus 650

Wed, 11/27/2024 - 12:29

Wheelguns continue to remain popular for concealed carry, something that the folks at Taurus are well aware of. With the increased number of people exercising their rights to concealed carry and constitutional carry the time was right for the reintroduction of the Taurus 650. The 650 is a shrouded-hammer, five-shot revolver chambered in .357 Magnum.

The Taurus 650

It’s been nearly 10 years since we last saw the 650, but the current market makes it a great time to bring it back.

Silencers To Your Door: Griffin Armament and Capitol Armory

Tue, 11/26/2024 - 15:30

Has the process for buying National Firearms Act (NFA) items overwhelmed, dissuaded or frustrated you? You’re far from the only one. From feeling burdened by paperwork, lack of dealer options in rural areas, and (until recently) the wait times, the process seems designed to be the punishment. In a recent conversation with a contact at Griffin Armament, I found out about how they’re working with Capitol Armory to bring Silencers To Your Door.

California Grandfather Uses Gun To Save Self, Grandkids

Tue, 11/26/2024 - 11:00

Recent research has shown that most Americans own firearms for self-defense reasons. A recent armed citizen episode in California is living proof of how owning a gun and knowing how to use it when the chips are down saved the life of one Golden State grandfather—and his grandchildren.

According to a report at kcra.com, the 70-year-old man and two grandchildren, ages 14 and 4, were at his business in Rancho Cordova, California, when an early-morning break-in on November 24 changed his life forever.

Skynet Ordered To Pay Jury Verdict To Portland Nightclub Goer Shot In The Leg

Tue, 11/26/2024 - 09:00

I know many of you read the headline and immediately wondered if a Terminator had been set loose in Portland, and while I’d shrug my shoulders with indifference if it had because hey, it’s Portland, that’s not actually the case. I’m talking about a different company here, Skynet Security. As many of you already know, Portland, Oregon has turned into what I like to call a dumpster fire city in the wake of its woke takeover.

Congressman Announces New Measure To Abolish ATF

Tue, 11/26/2024 - 07:00

Through the U.S. Department of Justice, the Biden Administration has weaponized the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), turning it into an agency constantly battling against America’s lawful gun owners and closely regulated gun retailers. In fact, during the past four years, Biden’s ATF has published several final rules, making laws when its real purpose is enforcing them.

That hasn’t set well with many Republicans in Congress. And now that the Republicans have retained the House majority, retaken the Senate and won the presidency with former President Donald Trump’s recent victory, one pro-gun lawmaker is ready to do something about the ongoing “problem” with the ATF.

Guns We Love: Sig Sauer P365 9mm Review

Mon, 11/25/2024 - 15:00

I remember when single stack 9mm handguns ruled the concealed carry market for many years in a row. Most of the gun manufacturers were competing to create the smallest handgun that would hold six or seven rounds. This included the extremely popular M&P Shield and the highly anticipated Glock 43 (albeit a couple of years later than originally thought after the Glock 42 release).

Then Sig Sauer reset the standard at the 2018 SHOT Show with their release of the high-capacity micro-compact P365 9mm pistol.

Texas AG Sues Hospital System For Restricting Off-Duty LEO Carry

Mon, 11/25/2024 - 11:00

Hot on the heels of the ongoing controversy over a firearm carry ban at the Texas State Fair, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has recently targeted another infringement on the right to bear arms in the Lone Star State.

On November 19, Paxton’s office filed a lawsuit against the Memorial Hermann Hospital System, arguing the system has restricted off-duty peace officers from entering some facilities in and around Houston with firearms since 2022.

Dangerous Games

Mon, 11/25/2024 - 09:00

As the saying goes, play stupid games, win stupid prizes, but some are deciding to take this mantra to a whole new level of dim-wittedness. As someone who has never played Fortnite or dominoes, perhaps I just don’t understand the stakes or raw emotion involved, or maybe heavy drug usage and hearing voices in your head just don’t mix well with firearms. Either way, an unrelated pair of clown shoes in Pennsylvania and Missouri, who I’d have gladly given Darwin awards to, decided their catharsis would come through the taking of other people’s lives instead.

Mon, 11/25/2024 - 07:00

On Nov. 21, the Firearms Policy Committee (FPC) filed a lawsuit against the State of New York, challenging the state’s ban on carrying firearms for residents of other states.

In Shaffer v. Quattrone, the plaintiffs argue that the carry ban for lawful nonresidents, which restricts their constitutional right to carry within state boundaries, violates their Second Amendment-protected right to keep and bear arms. Plaintiffs in the case are individual FPC members Matthew Shaffer, Ralph Flynn, Peter Robbins and Charles Pompey, and the U.S.

Sat, 11/23/2024 - 07:00

The SAF has filed a federal lawsuit against the state of Hawaii, challenging gun control laws that prohibit young adults between the ages of 18 and 20 from purchasing or possessing firearms and ammunition.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii, argues that these restrictions violate the plaintiffs’ Second and Fourteenth Amendment rights. Hands on with the C&H Precision ERD-1

Fri, 11/22/2024 - 15:00

There are a lot of optics on the market these days, and what’s out there can be overwhelming. It’s easy to get into the rut of just sticking with the big three or four brands you’re familiar with, but you’d be missing out if you do. There are some great optics from companies that you may not know yet and the ERD-1 from C&H Precision is probably one of them.

The ERD-1

I’d been seeing C&H optics pop up in my social media feed for a while now and decided to take a closer look.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Upholds State’s Firearms Preemption Law

Fri, 11/22/2024 - 13:00

In a lawsuit brought by the City of Philadelphia and community organizations, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the state’s firearms preemption law. This law forbids cities from instituting more restrictive gun statutes than the state’s laws.

The court ruled unanimously that the plaintiffs failed to make their case that the law was unconstitutional and should be struck down.

In the case Crawford v. Commonwealth, Philadelphia argued that the preemption statutes violated the Pennsylvania Constitution by increasing the risk of gun violence.
