Court Blocks Enforcement Of NY Carry Ban On Private Property Open To The Public

Leaning heavily on the second Bruen standard—the ability to show a historical precedent—a district court in New York on Thursday permanently enjoined the state’s law banning guns on private property open to the public without express consent of the owner.

In the case Christian v. James, U.S. District Judge John. L. Sinatra of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York wrote in the ruling that the state’s arguments concerning past “similar” laws weren’t convincing enough.

Hunter Attacked And Severely Bitten By Grizzly In Wyoming

Landon Clement, 31, a hunter from Blue Ridge, Georgia, was attacked by a grizzly bear in the early morning hours of Sept. 26 in Wyoming’s Upper Green River Basin. Suffering severe bite wounds from the apex predator, he was able to escape with his life after shooting the bear dead with his handgun.

The incident occurred around 7:30 AM as Clement and life-long friend John Quintrell enjoyed an archery hunt in picturesque Western Wyoming.

Rust Armorer In More Gun Trouble

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer for the movie Rust who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for actor Alec Baldwin shooting the movie’s cinematographer to death with a prop gun during filming, has again found herself in a New Mexico courtroom thanks to damning evidence found on her cell phone during the Rust investigation.

According to a report at theguardian.com, when investigators searched Gutierrez-Reed’s cellphone during the Rust investigation, they found a video of her with a handgun in the bathroom of a bar.

Florida Officials Who “Inadvertently” Banned Guns Prior to Hurricane May Pay

The five-member Okeechobee, Florida city council and Police Chief Donald Hagan may each be forced to pay $5,000 personally – without using taxpayer dollars – for violating Florida’s powerful preemption statute, which only allows the state legislature to regulate firearms. 

As previously reported, the city adopted an illegal ordinance shortly before Hurricane Helene made landfall, which banned the sale of guns and ammunition and prohibited firearm possession in public by anyone other than law enforcement or members of the military.

FPC Targets New Jersey One-Gun-A-Month Law

Fresh off a court win scuttling California’s law restricting firearms purchases to one every 30 days, a gun-rights group has now set its sights on another state that limits gun purchases to one a month.

The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) has filed another lawsuit in federal court—Struck v. Platkin—this time targeting New Jersey’s version of the gun-rationing law.

In the California case, Nguyen v. Bonta, the District Court for the Southern District of California ruled such a restriction was unconstitutional.

Weed Store Owner Claims Self-Defense in Fatal Shooting Amid Post-Hurricane Chaos

Just hours after Hurricane Helene swept through the Big Bend region of Florida, causing widespread destruction throughout the area and beyond, an attempted robbery at a local weed store escalated into a fatal shooting. With law enforcement stretched thin responding to numerous storm-related emergencies, a pair of robbers sought to take advantage of the distraction and targeted the Florida Hemp Distribution store on West Tennessee Street, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) was called to the scene around 6 p.m.

Kamala’s Big Glock Problem

Former Alaska Gun Store Owner Acquitted On Federal Firearms Charge

Aaron Horwath of Kenai, Alaska, was acquitted by a jury of his peers on September 27 on a federal charge of dealing in firearms without a license. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) charged the owner of Gator Guns Inc. last summer on the allegations that he was selling guns from his store despite the agency having revoked his Federal Firearms License (FFL) years earlier. 

The ATF revoked Horwath’s FFL in 2020 due to what the agency claims were “willful violations of federal firearms laws and regulations,” accusing him of failing to record hundreds of firearms sales transactions between 1982 and 2018.

Massachusetts Gun Restrictions Facing Another Challenge

The new sweeping gun-control package recently expedited into law by Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey is facing another in a long line of legal challenges.

After the law was passed by the legislature, it quickly became a target for gun-rights advocates. An initiative petition immediately began circulating in an attempt to get a question overturning the law on the state ballot in 2026, and at least two lawsuits, including one by the Massachusetts-based Gun Owners’ Action League (GOAL) were filed.

The WSJ Reveals Mexican Cartels’ Favorite Firepower

As the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to hear an almost laughable lawsuit regarding whether Mexico can sue American gun manufacturers for the violence committed by cartels in their country, The Wall Street Journal’s(WSJ) Steve Fisher and Roque Ruiz decided to dig in and try to find out just what are the “hot” items cartels are shopping for among the American marketplace. Mexico, enabled by a brutally poor economy, weak government and notoriously corrupt officials in every bureaucratic capacity, has been engulfed in epic bloodshed between violent drug gangs for years.
