Repeal of Citizen’s Arrest Law Will Endanger the Lives of Georgia’s Citizens

Fri, 05/14/2021 - 10:00

Miguel A. Faria, M.D.

This week Georgia’s Republican Governor Brian Kemp signed into law a bill that made the Peach State the first in the nation to repeal its citizen’s arrest statute.

“Today we are replacing this Civil War-era law, ripe for abuse, with language that balances the sacred right of self-defense of person and property with our shared responsibility to root out injustice and set our state on a better path forward,” Mr Kemp said, as reported by The Hill.

Refuse to Use Hate Speech: Taking Back the Language From Gun-Grabbers

Thu, 05/13/2021 - 14:00

by Lee Williams

I was on a good friend’s radio program Sunday night when one of the other guests raised a tremendous point: We need to take back our language from the anti-rights crowd and the legacy media.

Specifically, words like assault weapon, mainstream media, gun violence and many more have been creeping into our vocabulary and – mea culpa – even some of my stories.

NYC Mayor Candidate, Former NYPD Cop Says He’ll Carry a Gun if Elected

Thu, 05/13/2021 - 12:00

By Larry Keane

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is in denial about the city’s crime. His time as the accidental mayor of Gotham is winding down just as crime has risen, leaving residents scared to walk the streets. Even Times Square is unsafe.

That’s not a standard that’s good enough for mayoral candidate and former cop Eric Adams. In one of the most strict gun control cities in America that’s in one of the most strict gun control states, Adams said he will carry a firearm if elected mayor.

Firearms Expert Ashley Hlebinsky Schools Senators on the Truth About ‘Ghost Guns’

Thu, 05/13/2021 - 10:00

By Larry Keane

If U.S. senators were hoping to give a lift to the Department of Justice’s proposed rule to redefine a firearm, they underestimated Ashley Hlebinsky.

She’s a historical powerhouse when it comes to guns. Hlebinsky testified before the Senate Judiciary’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, in a hearing titled: Stop Gun Violence: Ghost Guns. Hlebinsky started by shredding any pretenses of false authority by those using loaded terms and ended her opening statement reminding senators whom they represent.

How Do You Off-Body Carry?

Wed, 05/12/2021 - 17:00

Off-body carry — carrying a concealed gun in a a briefcase, backpack, purse, whatever — isn’t ideal. It usually makes it more difficult and slower to access your gun. Then there’s the fact that whatever you’re using to carry your gun isn’t attached to you. You’ll put it down at some point and won’t be in control of your gun. That makes it easier for a thief to grab it or for you to forget it.

The Gun Control Industry Is Spending Bigly, But What Are They Buying?

Wed, 05/12/2021 - 12:00

By Larry Keane

Gun control groups are spending not just big, but “bigly.”

Open Secrets’ Krystal Hur reported that “Spending on gun control lobbying surged about 21 percent from January through March, compared with the same period in 2020, to $630,000. Everytown for Gun Safety, a nonprofit largely funded and co-launched by former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, topped the list of industry lobbyist spenders for the 10th year in a row with $380,000.

The NRA Reacts to Yesterday’s Bankruptcy Court Setback

Wed, 05/12/2021 - 10:00

Yesterday, a judge dismissed the National Rifle Association’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition, ruling that the Association filed it in bad faith. In his ruling Judge Harlin Hale let the NRA know that if they continue to press the matter, the court would “immediately take up some of its concerns about disclosure, transparency, secrecy, conflicts of interest of officers and litigation counsel, and the unusual involvement of litigation counsel in the affairs of the NRA.”

Those are doors that Wayne LaPierre and the rest of NRA management probably don’t want to open.

NBER Finds Gun Buyback Programs Are Useless in Preventing Crime, Suicides

Wed, 05/12/2021 - 08:00

Gun buyback programs (GBPs), which use public funds to purchase civilians’ privately-owned firearms, aim to reduce gun violence. However, little is known about their effects on firearm-related crime or deaths. Using data from the National Incident Based Reporting System, we find no evidence that GBPs reduce gun crime.

Given our estimated null findings, with 95 percent confidence, we can rule out decreases in firearm-related crime of greater than 1.3 percent during the year following a buyback.

SIG SAUER Files P365 Magazine Patent Infringement Suit Against Springfield Armory

Tue, 05/11/2021 - 13:32

SIG Sauer announced today they are suing Springfield Armory alleging patent infringement on the P365 magazine design. I remembered the announcement of the new P365 like it was yesterday and was left wondering how the hell they managed to fit ten rounds in such a small gun. Well, the answer was a unique magazine design.

Springfield’s popular  Hellcat is a similar-sized pistol designed with the same goal in mind as the P365.

The Gun That Never Went On Duty: AMT’s On Duty Pistol

Tue, 05/11/2021 - 13:00

Arcadia Machine & Tool was a company made famous by the hit 1980s sci-fi action/horror film, Terminator.

AMT was founded in 1977 in Irwindale, California and making their claim to fame by developing a number of guns in stainless steel like the movie-famous Hardballer above. Other than the Hardballer, AMT made a number of guns.

But by the late 80s, AMT knew that their little pocket pistols and hand cannons wouldn’t keep them out of the poor house.

Ask Josh: Why Are There So Few Modern Semi-Auto Magnum Hunting Rifles?

Mon, 05/10/2021 - 16:00

Today’s Ask Josh comes to us from Mike W. who’s a new hunter . . .

Why are the majority of semi-auto hunting rifles chambered for weak rounds or small calibers? I want to go hunting with a magnum rifle, but there are only one or two companies that make a semiautomatic rifle in magnum calibers. Why is this and will that ever change?

Mike is one of many guys out there who bought into the ‘bigger is better’ mantra early on.

3 Reasons Why Open Carry is a Bad Idea…And Why They’re Wrong [VIDEO]

Mon, 05/10/2021 - 14:00

You might expect a man whose company makes concealed carry holsters to preach against open carry. Not so with Bravo Concealment’s jefe, Rene Aquirre. His Texas company makes level one inside and outside the waistband holsters (I own four of them) and he’s a proponent of carrying a gun — either openly or concealed — because it’s your right to do so.

As he makes clear in the video above, he’s heard all the arguments against open carry, such as .

Gear Review: Holosun HS509T Red Dot Sight

Mon, 05/10/2021 - 12:00

We live in a time where handgun red dots sights are extremely prevalent. We have red dot sights in all sizes, shapes, and designs, but until now, we only had one designed to utilize an enclosed emitter.

The Aimpoint Acro introduced us to the idea of a tiny red dot with an enclosed emitter, and that idea has grown legs. Holosun has since released the HS509T, and SIG’s new Romeo2 is a quasi-enclosed emitter design.

Constitutional Carry in Texas Shouldn’t Be Necessary…But We Live in the Real World

Mon, 05/10/2021 - 10:00

By Anner

Constitutional carry is very much in the news. Four states have adopted it so far in 2021 and Texas and Louisiana are currently moving constitutional carry bills through the legislative process.

It’s sad really. Constitutional carry laws shouldn’t be necessary at all. The right to keep and bear arms is clearly covered in the Second Amendment. But we live in the real world and ultimately constitutional carry is the best legislative solution short of state constitutional amendments.

Leader in New York City Mayor Race: If I’m Elected, I’ll Carry a Gun

Mon, 05/10/2021 - 08:00

Yes, but what are the odds that the former NYPD captain would favor allowing law-abiding New Yorkers to do the same?

The Democratic front-runner in the New York City mayoral race said last year he would not use personal security if he wins the election, opting instead to carry his own gun.

“Yes I will, No. 1,” Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said in January 2020 when asked if he would keep his firearm if elected mayor.

Colorado Democrats Push 3 Gun Control Bills That Would Put Citizens’ Lives in Danger

Sun, 05/09/2021 - 17:00

By Dan Wos

Colorado legislators are working hard to destroy the Second Amendment rights of the state’s residents. Following the Boulder grocery store shooting, they’re currently considering three bills, SB 21-256, HB 21-1298 and HB 21-1299.

In summary, SB 21-256 would end state preemption, overriding existing law which currently prohibits local government from violating the Second Amendment. If signed into law, the bill would allow state and local governments to violate the Constitution by designating more “gun-free” zones with specific focus on colleges and universities.
