Biden/Harris Seek to Ban Guns in U.S. While Arming, Strengthening our Enemies

Tue, 08/27/2024 - 11:34

Three years ago, 13 U.S. service members were killed during Joe Biden’s botched Afghan pullout. He never mentions them, their grieving families or the changes that have taken place since they made the ultimate sacrifice.

It is now illegal for Afghan women to appear outside of the home unless they are fully veiled, Afghanistan’s supreme leader announced last week, according to the Associated Press. Women are also prohibited from talking in public – their voices are banned under the new decree.

Charges Finally Dropped Against Denver Man Who Shot 2 In Self-Defense

Tue, 08/27/2024 - 09:30

A Colorado man who faced two first-degree murder charges for shooting and killing two aggressors during a road-rage incident has finally had all charges dropped against him.

In June 2023, Stephan Long was driving on Interstate 25 in Denver when two men—brothers Blake and Damon Lucas—pulled up beside next to him on the highway, yelled at him and then swerved in front of his car and came to a stop. One of the brothers, Blake, then jumped out of the passenger side of the vehicle he was traveling in and attacked Long through his open window.

Another Louisiana City Tries To Avoid Constitutional Carry

Tue, 08/27/2024 - 07:30

We reported recently how New Orleans attempted to skirt the state’s new constitutional carry law by declaring a police station in the popular French Quarter to be a “school,” which would effectively ban legal carry in the immediate area, which included a stretch of Bourbon Street.

Now, the city of Lafayette, Louisiana, appears to be trying a similar tactic. On August 21, Lafayette Parish Mayor-President Monique Boulet announced that the Lafayette Police Department will enforce a 1,000-foot firearm-free school zone around the Lafayette Science Museum.

Happy Birthday SAF! Gun Rights Group Turns 50 Today

Mon, 08/26/2024 - 15:30

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), which has been fighting in the courts of America on behalf of gun owners right next to, and lately more in front of, gun rights stalwart NRA, celebrates a big occasion today as Monday, Aug. 26, marks 50 years of the organization’s existence. While NRA still tends to get most of the antis’ focus and media attention when “the gun lobby” enjoys a legislative or courtroom victory, the largest and longest operating gun rights organization in America has struggled under leadership and lawsuit woes in recent years.

Watch Me Dare The UK To Extradite Me

Mon, 08/26/2024 - 13:30

Recently, a video of a man getting arrested for Facebook posts in the UK made the social media rounds. In the video, he wasn’t told that he had threatened violence or planned crimes. His posts were said to be hateful, and for that he was going to be drug out of his home and taken in for prosecution.

The obvious American response to this was the cyber equivalent of the middle finger. Because people in the UK weren’t allowed to speak out against the police there without fear of getting their doors kicked in, Americans picked up the slack.

American Communities Encouraging Firearm Ownership To Combat Crime

Mon, 08/26/2024 - 11:35

It may come as a surprise that several American cities mandate gun ownership among households. These communities may be small enough to have flown under the radar, however, the trend may become noticeable as a growing number of local leaders begin to encourage responsible firearm ownership in order to combat crime. This principle, its foundation firmly based on reason, stands in stark contrast to those of major cities that promote gun control and the disarming of law-abiding citizens.

4th Circuit Court Upholds Maryland Handgun Law

Mon, 08/26/2024 - 09:30

The 4th Circuit Court of appeals has reversed an earlier decision by a three-judge panel of the same court, upholding Maryland’s Handgun Qualification License (HQL) requirement.

In the case Maryland Shall Issue v. Moore, a three-judge panel last November had ruled that the law was unconstitutional. But the court had vacated the agreement until the case could be heard by the full court, which upheld the law despite the earlier decision.

Mon, 08/26/2024 - 07:30

A federal judge in Wichita, Kansas, has tossed the case against a Kansas man who was facing charges of illegally possessing a machine gun.

In his decision in the case U.S. v Morgan, U.S. District Judge John Broomes of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, ruled that the federal law tightly regulating the ownership and transfer of full-auto firearms is unconstitutional under the 2022 Bruen decision. The ruling marked the first time the machine gun restrictions have been found unconstitutional.

Obscure Object of Desire: The Marlin Model 28

Sun, 08/25/2024 - 15:19

If I were to say shotgun company, what would you picture? Remington? Mossberg? Benelli? When I say Marlin, what do you think of? Likely lever action rifles like the Model 336 or the always affordable Marlin Model 60 tube-fed semi-auto .22 LR. Those are understandable associations, but you can also relate Marlin to shotguns. During the turn of the century, Marlin got into the pump-action shotgun world. They produced a ton of different pump-action shotguns, including today’s obscure object of desire, the Marlin Model 28.

Savage Adds Two New Color Options to the Model 42 Takedown

Sat, 08/24/2024 - 11:00

I’ve long been a fan of the Savage Model 24 over and under rifles. They’d been made since the late 30s, and were available in a myriad of rifle and shotgun caliber and gauge combos. Most of those old Model 24s were blued steel with wood stocks. The idea of a compact rifle/shotgun combo as a camp or survival rifle is appealing, and Savage hasn’t forgotten that. Their current over and under combo rifle is the Model 42.

Concealed carry permit holders may now possess firearms on West Virginia public college and university campuses following implementation of the Campus Self-Defense Act. The act went into effect July 1. The bill began moving through the legislature in 2023, now joining 11 other states that have passed similar laws.

Fri, 08/23/2024 - 13:30

A federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction in the case challenging California’s ban on nonresident carry of firearms, thanks largely to the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen.

According to the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), U.S. District Court Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California granted in part and denied in part the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary injunction in the case California Rifle & Pistol Association v.

Guns We Love – Astra Constable

Fri, 07/19/2024 - 16:00

The Walther PP and PPK have reached legendary status. When people say Walther, most people will picture a PP variant. In reality, there was nothing superbly revolutionary about the PP series. These were high-quality firearms that were sleek, slim and good-looking. They are also the guns of James Bond. They remain in production with Walther. That level of popularity led to a ton of clones. Clones from Mauser, Bersa, and a company called Astra. Well, the Astra Constable isn’t necessarily a clone but a Spanish adaption of the Walther pistols.

FPC Sets Maine Governor Straight On Freedom Of Speech

Fri, 07/19/2024 - 12:30

A squabble between the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) and Maine Gov. Janet Mills is growing increasingly strange.

The battle stems from a video in which Gov. Mills told a liberal reporter that she was considering a ban on popular semi-automatic rifles as a response to last October’s mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, which killed 18 innocent people. FPC, a pro-freedom organization specializing in fighting unjust, unconstitutional laws in the courtroom, responded to the video.

Safe Firearms Storage is Everyone’s Responsibility

Fri, 07/19/2024 - 09:00

While details of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump and ensuing investigation continue to trickle out through the media, news on the actions and possible motivations of the shooter remain scarce. Initial reports indicate the AR-style rifle the 20-year-old gunman used was one that his father had legally purchased in 2013 from a gun shop that is now out of business. The suspect, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was still living with his parents in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, just over an hour away from the scene of the attack in Butler, Pennsylvania.

GOP Talks Guns At USCCA Gathering In Milwaukee

Fri, 07/19/2024 - 07:30

While the Republican Party has taken most of the references to firearms out of its official Party Platform, a meeting hosted by the U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Tuesday leaves little doubt that the GOP remains steadfastly pro-Second Amendment.

During his tenure in office, former President Trump was a staunch defender of gun rights, with a few exceptions like the recently overturned bump stock ban.

Following Donald Trump’s announcement this week in choosing one-time critic J.D. Vance as his vice presidential nominee and Vance’s own speech at the Republican National Convention last night, while some serious Trumpers may still have their doubts, Vance’s record has for now won the support of some of our country’s biggest gun rights organizations. Here is what they are saying:
