We Will Not Comply: Only .1% of Illinois Gun Owners Have Registered Their Newly Banned Guns So Far

Wed, 11/01/2023 - 10:00

According to Illinois State Police data, 2,415,481 gun owners call the Land o’ Lincoln home. Earlier this year, Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the so-called Protect Illinois Communities Act into law which banned the most many of the most popular guns used for self-defense. Under the law, existing owners of these now verboten firearms must register their guns by January 1, 2024 or face felony charges.

Four weeks into the gun registration window, exactly 2430 of those FOID holders have registered their guns, accessories, or .50 caliber firearms.

Glenn Beck Boils Down the Anti-Gun Left’s Arguments on Gun Ownership and Firearm Exports

Wed, 11/01/2023 - 08:00

GLENN: Dateline Washington. The Commerce Department is halting exports of most US-made firearms for 90 days, and reviewing its support of the country’s biggest gun trade show to ensure such backing does not undermine US policy interests. Steps that could slow two decades of growth of gun sales abroad.

We go to Stu…Burguiere. Our analyst on guns. And regional gun expert, to tell us what he thinks, the government is actually doing here.

How to Give Good Advice When You’re Asked About Guns

Tue, 10/31/2023 - 16:00

By Paul Markel

Just like clockwork, when people who don’t own or carry guns are faced with the reality that we live in a dangerous, uncertain world, they look to their “gun friends” for advice. Sometimes this is a personal situation. They’ve been robbed, assaulted, threatened, etc. and they seek out advice from someone they know who owns guns.

As often as not, what will inspire the non-gun owning/carrying people to seek out advice is a national or world crisis.

Things That Don’t Suck Xinfared T2 Pro Thermal Camera

Tue, 10/31/2023 - 15:00

Have you ever looked into buying any kind of thermal imaging device? They’re not cheap. I was stunned that Holosun was producing the DRS with thermal capability for less than two grand. Any see-in-the-dark technology can be tough to get into, but every so often, you find something that surprises you.

The people from Xinfared contacted me and asked if I wanted to test their T2 Pro Thermal Camera. After a quick look at the website, I figured…why not?

Biden Isn’t Just Going After ‘Rogue’ Gun Dealers, He’s Targeting ALL Gun Dealers

Tue, 10/31/2023 - 14:00

By Lee Williams

Shortly after taking office, Joe Biden weaponized the ATF and then announced a zero-tolerance policy for “rogue gun dealers,” who he claimed were responsible for increased violent crime rates in many major U.S. cities.

“Rogue gun dealers” the President explained, are those Federal Firearm Licensees who willfully transfer firearms to prohibited persons, and/or who refuse to cooperate with a tracing request from ATF.

“Merchants of death are breaking the law for profit,” Biden said in June 2021.

Biden Administration Opens a New Front in its War on Guns and the Companies That Make Them

Tue, 10/31/2023 - 10:00

President Joe Biden is stepping up his effort to cripple the firearm industry, the one industry that provides the means for law-abiding citizens to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

President Biden’s Commerce Department issued a new and unprecedented edict that bans the export of firearms, ammunition and certain accessories to most overseas markets. The Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security posted a notice of a 90-day “pause” for the exports on a Friday afternoon – on the Frequently Asked Questions Section that’s listed on the bottom the BIS website.

Oaksong at KOS: The Second Amendment is Only for the Benefit of Whites and ‘Whiteism’

Tue, 10/31/2023 - 08:00

All this nonsense about being able to preserve the country from some imaginary tyranny is just that, nonsense. The NRA and the Far Right have been shilling nonsense about the meaning of the 2nd Amendment for years in order go (sic) further their aims. The NRA wants to sell guns. The Right wants to play battle games in the woods. The deadly result is that more children die from bullets than from any other cause.

Once Again, the Ninth Circuit Contorts Itself to Delay Ruling in a Key Second Amendment Case

Mon, 10/30/2023 - 16:00

By LKB

Just when I thought the Ninth Circuit could not more brazenly thumb its collective nose at the Supreme Court and the Bruen decision, over the weekend a Ninth Circuit panel proved once more that there truly are no limits to that court’s enmity toward Second Amendment rights.

Recall that on October 19, Judge Roger Benitez once again invalidated California’s “assault weapon” ban in Miller v. Bonta, finding that the state had failed to carry its burden of establishing the law’s constitutionality under the Bruen test.

Taurus Reintroduces the 917C Compact, an 18-Round 9mm DA/SA Carry Gun

Mon, 10/30/2023 - 13:00

Taurus has been making Model 92 pistols since 1980 on Beretta machinery that was purchased after the contract for military Beretta’s 92’s expired in Brazil. The Taurus 92, the PT92 to be precise, was more like the old Beretta 92S in that it had a frame mounted safety rather than the later hammer drop Beretta 92F’s. Taurus later made some of their own improvements to the design including a decocking lever incorporated into the frame mounted safety, rather than moving to a slide mounted one like Beretta did with the 92F, as well as adding an accessory rail for lights or lasers.

Gun Buyback Follies: Bloomington Police Burn Through $50,000 Only 30 Cars Into a Two Mile Long Line

Mon, 10/30/2023 - 12:00

In the latest instance of municipal “gun safety” theater, Bloomington, Illinois Police announced that they’d be collecting unwanted and unloved guns at a gun buyback Sunday morning. Thanks in part to TTAG and Guns Save Life publicity along with an assist from local media, they got a big response.

The BPD had a $50,000 grant from the State of Illinois for the even. It lasted less than three dozen cars into a two-mile-long line of cars, each filled with people waiting to grab some holiday cash.

National Guard Tipped Maine Police That Robert Card Could ‘Snap and Commit a Mass Shooting’

Mon, 10/30/2023 - 10:00

We’ve seen all of this play out before. An individual who police had previously investigated after reports of disturbing behavior goes on to commit a horrible crime. Before the bodies cold, the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex and gun-hating politicians claim the problem is — of course — the guns and the crime is just the latest evidence that we need more laws that further restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Mastio: Once We Start Banning Classes of Firearms, The Gun-Banners Will Never Stop

Mon, 10/30/2023 - 08:00

It is also important to remember that the biggest threat from the dangerously mentally ill is not to the public, but to themselves. There are more suicides annually than murders.

Moreover, rifles, including the AR-15 assault-style rifles, are involved in only a few hundred cases of the tens of thousands of murders and suicides every year. Bloody year after blood-drenched year, handguns are many times the killers that rifles — of any type — are.

An Interview With Pure Precision’s Landon Gines on Action Design, Materials, and Accuracy [VIDEO]

Sun, 10/29/2023 - 13:00

By Mike Semanoff

Growing up with a Remington 700 in my hand, I always loved the feel of a bolt action rifle and the potential accuracy they have. Being 16 years old and obsessed with shooting, my day dreams were filled with Carlos Hathcock aspirations and the perfect 1000 yard rifle.

I remember as a kid listening to guys talking about bedding, trueing, blueprinting, or trigger jobs, to tighten up their groups…but didn’t know what all of that meant and I didn’t have money to do it anyway.

It’s Strange the Things for Which Some People Are Willing to Make Liberty Tradeoffs

Sat, 10/28/2023 - 13:00

Watching the usual anti-gun tirades by gun-haters in the aftermath of a high profile shooting like the one in Lewiston, Maine, it’s interesting to see the things that people will and won’t make liberty tradeoffs for. Even those who can only argue by spouting things like, “How many people have to die for your rights?” make these tradeoffs. One that comes up frequently is alcohol.

The United States famously gave prohibition a try.

White House Outraged That New House Speaker Said Guns Don’t Kill People, People Kill People

Sat, 10/28/2023 - 08:00

The White House rebuked comments [House Speaker Rep. Mike] Johnson made to Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday night, a day after 18 people were killed in two mass shootings in Maine, in which Johnson said that guns are not the cause of America’s unique mass shooting crises.

Saying that it was “not the time” to talk about gun control, he told Hannity, “The problem is the human heart.
