The Truth About Guns
What Semi-Auto Pistol Would You Feel Comfortable Hiding on Top of a Pizza?
Lots of routine traffic stops result in arrests for more serious violations. Take, for instance, what happened early Tuesday morning in Rosamond, California. “Deputies patrolling the area of 30th Street West and Old Country Way in Rosamond stopped a vehicle for simple vehicle code violations. The driver, 47 year old Danny Carson, had a misdemeanor warrant and was on PRCS (post-release community service) for weapons violations.”
Already a bad start, and as your mother always said, nothing good happens after midnight.
BREAKING: ATF Blocked From Confiscating NAGR Member’s Forced Reset Trigger…For Now

When the ATF targeted Rare Breed Triggers in 2021, makers of forced-reset triggers that ATF had magically designated as machine guns, they scooped up the company’s customer list. That’s given them the ability to go around the country confiscating the triggers from people who lawfully purchased them before the agency waived its regulatory wand and reclassified them.

The people who have been marching in support of the Palestinian terrorists who butchered more than 1,200 men, women, and children in Israel over the weekend may be doing and saying vile things in support of some of the worst people on the face of the Earth, but the Constitution protects their right to do so.
Lesson From Israel – If You Get Comfortable With Your Enemy, You’re Dead
There’s a Substack colum that I read occasionally called Weapons and Strategy and it’s written by Steven Bryen. And in his commentary on the Israeli attacks, the very end of his commentary, he came out with two points. And these are two points I think are very specifically germane to us here, once again, in the self-defense landscape in the United States.
The first is, relying just on deterrence is a huge mistake.

Government Covid Tax Dollar Give-Aways Fueled the Illegal Black Market for Guns
America can add one more lingering effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. Easy access to government funds fueled fraudulent claims that heated up the illicit black market of firearms, especially by criminal gangs and illegal drug networks. In other words, it wasn’t the lawful sale of a record number of firearms in 2020 and 2021 that was responsible for crime. It was government tax dollar giveaways without guardrails that criminals co-opted.
The 5 Best Shooting Drills to Make the Most of Your Range Time
Firearms drills are an absolute blast. They sharpen your skills, give you a challenge at the range and can change the way you think about shooting and self-defense. They can also be an eye-opener, and a means to evaluate your skills. So without further distraction, here are my five favorite firearms training drills.
The El Presidente
The El Presidente is a classic firearms training drill created by Jeff Cooper. The exercise utilizes three targets, a handgun, a holster, a shot timer, and an extra magazine and magazine pouch.
Classic Gun Review: Belgian Browning Hi-Power Mk I
The Belgian made FN Browning Hi-Power pistol ranks as one of my favorite side arms of all time. I appreciate the gun for its history, as well as its practical use. I’ve bought, shot the heck out of, and then sold many of mine to friends who just couldn’t live without one after shooting them.
That process had left me in the shameful state of not having one around for the last few years.

Gun Meme of the Day: Afghanistan Edition
Just like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know that the answer is Afghanistan. Cuz we left them there. Because reasons. Trump had a pretty good take on that.

Disney Will Delete Hunting Scene Where Bambi’s Mother is Shot in its Upcoming Remake
By Matt Manda
The 1942 Disney children’s classic Bambi is getting a remake and chatter from Hollywood insiders suggests the reboot won’t include one particularly critical scene. Not surprisingly, producers are leaving out the scene when the titular young fawn’s mother is presumably killed by a hunter.
“Not to spoil the plot, but there’s a treatment of the mom dying that I think some kids, some parents these days are more sensitive about than they were in the past,” film writer and former director Linsey Beer told a movie news website.
Personal Defense Tip: Stay Frosty Out There, Especially Now
Just over a week ago, border state FFLs received a warning from ATF about criminals angling to acquire some heavy-duty firearms. This was, apparently, based on fresh intelligence that a unique, current, and active push among bad actors to acquire .50 caliber rifles and belt-feds was underway.
Then the attacks in Israel happened…and are escalating. Now we’re learning even more about how many “special interest aliens” from the Middle East have been illegally crossing our open southern border.
Armasight Announces New Pinnacle Premium Night Vision Kits
Earlier this year I spent some time in Utah shooting handguns and rifles in the dead of night at different distances using Armasight night vision gear. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it. We used everything from their CO-Mini clip-on which works great in combination with a red dot, up to their new, not-yet-announced all-in-one night vision kits.
Armasight has finally dropped the veil on these and they’re calling them their Ultimate Night Vision Kit.

Gun Review: Wilson Combat NULA Model 20 Bolt Action Rifle
It was so light I thought Wilson Combat had sent me an empty soft case.
Unzipping the rifle case I realized what was inside, the newest addition to the Wilson Combat line, a precision .308 Winchester bolt action rifle weighing in at just 4lbs., 15oz. Wilson Combat has released the Wilson Combat NULA Model 20, and it’s everything I’d imagined it could be.
I’ve been hoping for this review ever since I read that Wilson Combat had purchased New Ultralight Arms (NULA) from its creator, Melvin Forbes, about a year ago.

The 2023 Silencer Summit Was a Big Success
It all went down on August 8th, 9th, and 10th in Cheyenne, Wyoming at Thunder Beast Arms’ facilities. The 2023 Silencer Summit, the first of what will likely become an annual event (perhaps a traveling one), was effectively a silencer decibel measuring drag race. Suppressors from dozens of manufacturers — over 185 silencer/gun combos! — were tested with the best dB measuring equipment positioned in three metering locations and run by the sound testing experts at B&K.

Riton’s New 3 TACTIX EED Enclosed Emitter Red Dot Sight
Nothing’s been hotter in the accessory market over the last couple of years than pistol red dots and as a subset of those, the hottest hotness has become enclosed emitter red dots. While they’re bigger and boxier than standard reflext sights, they keep dirt and the elements out of the works for more reliability in more conditions.
Riton Optics has just announced their new 3 TACTIX EED (enclosed emitter dot). We have one on the way for a full going over, but in the mean time, here’s their press release .

Defensive Gun Use: Phoenix Man Shoots and Kills Home Invader Who Threatened His Family
Ricky Gomez began pounding on the door of a home in central Phoenix at about 11:00pm last Thursday night. He pounded long and hard enough that he broke a window in the door and then let himself in. That was a mistake.
As a next door neighbor notes, the area has a crime problem. From Fox10 . . .
“The light rail is right up there,” said [neighbor Roger] David.
Superintendent Who ‘Isn’t a Gun Person’ Has Trained Armed Response Teams in Two Ohio Districts
Before starting these armed response teams, what was your experience with firearms? Did that influence your feelings about the program?
I’m not even a gun person. When I first did this in 2013, the most I ever shot was a BB gun. I’m not a member of the NRA or anything like that. This all started with just sitting down with our sheriff and talking about the needs. We watched some film of some active shooter situations and I thought to myself, “My goodness gracious.
