Mon, 06/19/2023 - 12:00

Two hundred plus youths held an impromptu parking lot party in Willowbrook, Illinois this past weekend, ostensibly to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday. It all came to a screeching halt shortly after midnight when a vehicle rolled up and one or more persons emerged and began firing into the crowd. In the end, news reports say as many as 23 were shot, one was killed and police have zero suspects in custody.

Police apparently expected trouble.

Science: Has Importing New York-Style Gun Control Laws Made Vermont Less Safe?

Mon, 06/19/2023 - 10:00

From the NRA-ILA . . .

Up until 2018, deep blue Vermont was a model for sensible gun laws. In other words, they had few and politicians on both sides of the aisle understood the tranquil state didn’t need any. Vermont was the original Constitutional Carry state, as the Right-to-Carry without a permit was affirmed in a 1903 state supreme court case. In 2017 Vermont ranked 49th in violent crime – ahead of only Maine.

Pro- and Anti-Gunners Anticipate Another Supreme Court Second Amendment Case

Mon, 06/19/2023 - 08:00

Meanwhile, challenges to other provisions of federal law are gathering steam in lower courts.

Earlier this month, the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia targeted another provision, 922(g)(1), that prohibits felons from possessing guns. The court ruled that the law was unconstitutional as applied to people convicted of nonviolent crimes.

In reaching that conclusion the court said there was no historical tradition of people being disarmed after being convicted of nonviolent crimes.

Personal Defense Tip: Develop Your Own Tactical Checklist

Sun, 06/18/2023 - 16:00

By Sal Navarro

Being “tactical” is a way of life, not an ethereal concept or happenstance occurrence. And just for the record, it has nothing at all to do with wearing the right cargo pants or boots. Rather, it means having a plan well in advance of a dynamic, critical incident and putting that plan into action if and when it’s needed. In law enforcement circles, this is known as “situational awareness and response” or “critical thinking.” Let’s look at one potential scenario .

One More Time: Beware of Cheap Chinese Knockoff Gear

Sun, 06/18/2023 - 14:00

You’ve heard it all your life. If it seems like it’s too good to be true, it probably is. If you actually think you can get an EOTECH holographic sight for $33, you’re probably still wearing an N95 mask as you drive around in your car.

We’ve covered this before, people. Maybe you’re not dumb enough to buy a GLOCK switch or a suppressor that could result in a knock on your door by an actual ATF agent and wind up with you doing a stretch in jail.

Brandon Gets Going: Violent Crime Up 38% in New Chicago Mayor’s First 30 Days

Sun, 06/18/2023 - 10:00

“Let’s go Brandon” became a common chant mocking Joe Biden early in his term.  However, it’s gaining a whole new meaning in the Windy City. Violent crime under Murder City USA’s new and even more woke mayor Brandon Johnson rose 38% in his first 30 days in office.

Right off the bat, ahead of the always precarious Memorial Day holiday, Hizzoner elected to spend precious city money on “violence prevention” programs instead of paying cops overtime to try to keep a lid on the violence.

Constitutional Carry Counties Undermine the Constitution Itself…Allegedly

Sat, 06/17/2023 - 16:00

John E. Finn, Wesleyan University

Declaring its community a “constitutional county” on May 23, 2023, the Board of County Commissioners in Ottawa County, Michigan, voted 9-1 not to enforce any law or rule that “restricts the rights of any law-abiding citizen affirmed by the United States Constitution.”

Nor will the county provide aid or resources to any state or federal agency that county officials judge to be infringing on or restricting those rights.

Armed Woman Stops Uber Eats Driver’s Home Invasion Attempt [VIDEO]

Sat, 06/17/2023 - 13:00

A whole lot of Americans pay big bucks to have Uber Eats deliver food to their home or place of work. Most of the time, the worst thing that happens is the food is cold and their wallet is lighter. But sometimes things can take a more ominous turn.

Take, for instance, a woman in Columbus, Ohio who dozed off while waiting for her Uber Eats delivery to arrive. She woke to the sound of her doorknob jiggling and someone trying to force her door open.

As he pulled into work Wednesday morning, twenty heavily armed Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division agents swarmed his store. He tells TTAG that the IRS agents, in full battle rattle, had been mustered from as far away as Denver and Idaho to serve a warrant for his financial records.

He told us the IRS claims that he has under-reported and failed to report millions of dollars of income.

Biden’s Latest Big Lie: He Put an End to Roving Urban Gun Sales Trucks

Sat, 06/17/2023 - 08:00

Biden: “Down in Philadelphia and New York, areas I know well, like up here, you’d see a truck pull up, pull the curb and selling weapons, selling guns, selling AR-15s.” pic.twitter.com/RH23Zq9zHR

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) June 16, 2023

For the first time ever, we explicitly made gun trafficking a federal crime. They say, “What the hell? It wasn’t already?” No, I’m serious. Think about it.

Bloomington, Illinois Police Give Away Non-Gun Safes That Will Rust Firearms

Fri, 06/16/2023 - 16:00

There’s more than one way to disarm the people in America. Lawmakers pass unconstitutional gun bans and limit the places they can carry a firearm. Governments can “buy back” guns they never owned. And now, there’s a new and even more insidious way to take guns out of circulation: render them inoperable inside gun owners’ homes.

Police in Bloomington, Illinois gave away 312 “gun safes” to local residents this past weekend. People lined up early to get their “free” ~100-pound safes at the Farmer’s Market downtown.

Ammunition Review: Barnes Defense Buckshot

Fri, 06/16/2023 - 12:00

Ammo reviews can be difficult to do, what with all the gel blocks and other gear required for an objective evaluation. Shotgun ammo can be a bit different. Rounds like Federal’s Personal Defense with Flitecontrol are worth a look and comparison to competitors. What makes Barnes Defense Buckshot eye-catching is its cost of almost $4.00 per round.

Barnes describes the new load as being “produced with the uncompromising precision and reliability” and having a price of between $17.99 and $21.99 for a five-round box.

Gavin Newsom: Only ‘Merchants of Death’ Oppose His 28th Amendment Gun Control Proposal

Thu, 06/15/2023 - 16:00

Pity poor California Gov. Gavin Newsom. He’s trying so hard to remain relevant while tapping his foot, waiting for something unfortunate to happen to President Joe Biden.  Newsom really wants to run for president, but until he doesn’t want to be seen as being in the same company with people like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

So he’s trying to say in the public eye and look presidential without actually campaigning. His latest pathetically transparent stunt proposing a 28th Amendment to the Constitution which would gut many of the rights protected by the terribly inconvenient Second Amendment.

After Pistol Braces, What’s Next on the ATF’s Hit List?

Thu, 06/15/2023 - 14:00

By Lee Williams

House Republicans tried to stop the massive overreach by unelected bureaucrats at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The ATF has turned more than 40 million law-abiding Americans into felons overnight. That’s because the normal operation of our constitutional republic has been perverted by a doddering old buffoon who would rather rule by imperial decree than submit to the normal checks, balances and separation of powers which have proven so effective for nearly two-and-a-half centuries.
