Q&A with Merrisa Bishop of Bishop Ammunition and Firearms

Fri, 02/02/2018 - 12:47

OSG’s Michael Bane and Merrisa Bishop, of Bishop Ammunition and Firearms, sit down to discuss the small, yet advanced, Californian company.

Bishop Ammunition and Firearms is run by two women, and a lot of military experience. Both women are veterans, and use their knowledge and background to create unique, powerful firearms.

Bishop begins by bringing out the 458 SOCOM bolt action rifle, custom made to each buyer’s specifications. Bishop assures this dangerous game rifle will not jam, and is only 8 pounds, with the ability to carry seven rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. Bishop tells Michael that every firearm is tested personally by her; and if she doesn’t approve, it will not be shipped out.

Lastly, Bishop brings out one of her scopes. The scope is shock proof, water proof, and dust proof, and Bishop gives customers a lifetime warranty on it. The scope comes with two mounts and a set of rings, all costing around $429.

SCCY Firearms Shows Off Colorful .380 and 9mm Pistols

Wed, 01/31/2018 - 11:03

Holt showed Bane the SCCY .380 pistol, which is available in multiple color options. He explains that many new shooters are women, and the new choice of colors has been a hit with the growing demographic. Holt and Bane also spoke about the SCCY 9mm pistol, which just like the .380, has reliable iron sights and minimal kick back.  Both of these pistols are perfect for concealed carry due to their small size and minimal recoil.

RNT-V and RNT Duck Calls

Thu, 01/25/2018 - 17:55

One of the most recognizable names in the waterfowling world, Jim “Jimbo” Ronquest of Rich-n-Tone Duck Calls (RNT), makes his living making duck calls and producing the popular RNT-V series on Sportsman Channel.

At the 40th anniversary SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Ronquest stopped by the OSG booth to talk for a few minutes to writer Lynn Burkhead about all things duck hunting.

From the various RNT filming expeditions this past fall to the challenge of duck hunting in high-and-dry Arkansas after a summer and early fall of drought, greenheads, duck calls, and Sitka Gear camouflage dominated the discussion.

Before the quack-talk session was through, Ronquest – the 2006 world duck calling champion – gave viewers a progress report on how the Stuttgart, Ark. based RNT Call Shop is coming along in the rebuilding process after the company suffered a devastating fire in early 2016.

New Upland Shotgun: Browning Citori White Lightning Over-and-Under

Wed, 01/24/2018 - 12:50

Rafe Nielson of Browning recently discussed the revamped Browning Citori White Lightning Over-and-Under shotgun at Industry Day at the Range prior to the beginning of SHOT Show 2018 in Las Vegas.

According to Nielsen, the 2018 version of the White Lightning brings some enhanced engraving to the classic shotgun along with some internal design improvements. Add in a thinner forearm for a better grip and the White Lightning continues the Hall-of-Fame performance by Browning’s iconic Citori line-up.

All in all, these enhancements to the Browning 12-gauge over-and-under should keep both waterfowlers and their upland hunting pals all smiles when the greenhead mallards and the pheasant roosters fly in front of the quick handling White Lightning shotgun.
