That An AR In Your Pocket, Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?

Heizer Defense PAR1

So rather than carrying even a pocket pistol, I should carry a 1 shot pistol whose barrel is only slightly longer than the round it is chambered for? I don’t quite get the point.

2530 Yard Shot

Mon, 04/21/2014 - 10:15

Description from http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=faa_1398007067:
A few days ago I took out the 338 Lapua and attempted the 2500 yard shot. So I placed the target at 2530 yards or 1.43 miles away, at that distance the bullet flight time is almost 4.5 seconds! Made a short video that I think you guys will enjoy.
I went out early in the morning to beat the mirage, luckly there was very little wind around 3-4 mph coming from the left, I dialed 2.6 mils Left. I had to dialed the maximum elevation my scope (Nightforce NXS 5.5-22×56 MIL/MIL) had at 27.4 mils then held over 2.5 mils on the reticle to get me to 29.9 mils. I really hope you guys enjoy the video, please comment or ask any questions you may have…….and let me know what you think! Thanks for watching!

The Five Extra Words

Wed, 04/16/2014 - 19:41

Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns.

D.C. Investigating Mark Witaschek’S Taxes After Conviction For Muzzleloader Bullet

Fri, 04/11/2014 - 15:41

The District of Columbia has spent almost two years persecuting a good man because they wrongly thought he had guns in the city.

It wasn’t enough to prosecute Mark Witaschek for having one shotgun shell and a box of muzzleloader bullets. After a three-month trial that ended in a conviction, the city started an investigation into the businessman’s taxes.

This abuse of power must end.

On the word of a bitter ex, the police searched Mr. Witaschek’s Georgetown home twice in 2012 looking for guns. They never found the bounty of firearms since Mr. Witaschek, a hunter, keeps his guns at his sister’s home in Virginia.

The D.C. cops went to Sylvia Witaschek’s home in the commonwealth and demanded she show them the guns, but she refused.

The District’s unelected Attorney General Irvin Nathan infamously declined to prosecute NBC’s David Gregory for possession of a “high-capacity” magazine in December 2012, claiming it was not in the interest of public safety.

However, Mr. Nathan refused to drop the ammunitions charges against Mr. Witaschek and instead, sicced two of his prosecutors on the case, which dragged on for 18 months.

The judge did not rule on the shotgun shell, which had misfired at a hunt years ago. The District only allows registered gun owners to possess ammunition.

The Obama Import Ban

Fri, 04/11/2014 - 12:36

It seemed as though we had relative peace and quiet on the 2nd Amendment front after handing Feinstein and her merry band of anti-freedom clowns a smack-down post Sandy Hook. We soundly defeated all attempts by leftists to grab our semi-automatic rifles and standard capacity magazines at the federal level. Sadly, some states enacted new laws in the wake of the tragedy and further encroached on their citizens Constitutionally protected rights, but the rest of us escaped mostly unscathed due to the quick and decisive action of gun owners.

For the most part the gun-grabbers had whimpered off, licking their wounds and were relegated to waiting for the next tragedy to happen so they could spring forth with new gun ban proposals. The latest school attack was perpetrated by a kid Akimbo wielding kitchen knives and that’s just not enough to excite the masses to support new “assault weapons bans” or magazine capacity limits.

Apparently the wait was too much for them to bare, after all, these folks find liberty and the Bill of Rights so distasteful they can only sit quiet for so long. Having an insatiable itch to push something, ANYTHING, forward on the gun-grabbing front, 80 Congresscritters drafted a letter to the gun-grabber in chief calling for him to waive his magical pen and ban all future imports of semi-automa

Air Marshal Director Stepping Down Amid Agency Gun Scheme Probe

Fri, 04/11/2014 - 08:12

The director of the Federal Air Marshal Service is retiring after being investigated for his role in an alleged operation to acquire guns for officials’ personal use, FoxNews.com has learned.

Director Robert Bray’s home was raided in December in connection with the ongoing probe. Law enforcement and congressional sources told FoxNews.com that Bray’s recently announced retirement, which is effective in June, is directly related to the investigation.

Bray allegedly is among several officials who were obtaining weapons through this operation.

The Department of Homeland Security inspector general probe — which also is believed to involve the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives — stems from whistleblower accusations involving federal Air Marshal supervisor Danny Poulos.

He is accused of using the agency’s federal firearms license and his relationship with gun manufacturer Sig Sauer to obtain discounted and free guns. He then provided them to high-up agency officials for their personal use, according to whistleblower documents obtained by FoxNews.com and interviews with multiple officials with knowledge of the ongoing probe.

It is unclear, based on the allegations, whether he made money off the alleged transactions, and how many guns wer

Sig Sauer Sues ATF For Calling Its ‘Muzzle Brake’ A Gun Silencer

Thu, 04/10/2014 - 15:30

Gun maker Sig Sauer has filed a civil suit against the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives claiming the federal agency wrongfully classified a “muzzle brake” Sig designed to reduce recoil, as an item “intended only for use” when making a silencer.

Sig claims that gun silencers are “subject to burdensome legal requirements” and by calling its muzzle brake a part for a silencer, the federal agency is subjecting it to “economic injury.”

“If classified as a silencer, no market exists for the subject device given that it will not silence, muffle, or diminish the report of a firearm and yet it would still be subject to the burdensome requirements set forth above as if it really is a silencer,” Sig argues through Manchester attorney Mark Rouvalis and Virginia attorney Stephen Halbrook.

ATF Director B. Todd Jones is named as defendant in Sig’s lawsuit and has 21 days, after being served, to respond to the civil action, dated April 7.

Sig claims it designed the muzzle brake which “effectively reduces recoil and muzzle rise when a shot is discharged” and as such, it’s not subject to regulation under the federal Gun Control Act.

“Accordingly, it will be highly marketable to consumers and will generate profit,” according to the suit.

9 Tips for Choosing Your Holster

Wed, 04/09/2014 - 08:07

Whether you are on duty or off, the kind of holster that you hold your gun in can both influence the way that you carry it and the places that you get to carry it to. Notwithstanding the kind of gun you have or where you choose to strap it to your person, there are two basic qualities that you need to look for in a holster. To begin, you holster needs to be capable of holding your pistol securely; then, it needs to allow quick and easy access to your weapon when you need it.

Stores selling tactical police equipment offer a wide range of holsters, many of them innovative designs by manufacturers trying to set themselves apart. Some of these new designs offer nothing but gimmickry. To pick the right holster, you need to be able to tell genuine innovations apart from meaningless ones. New designs aren’t really necessary, though. Holsters have been around long enough now that the basic principles of successful holster working design are established. Rather than run after every new design that holster makers come up with when you shop for a holster, you need to go for designs that deliver well on the basics.

Test, Examination And Classification Of 7N6 5.45X39 Ammunition

Tue, 04/08/2014 - 15:31

On March 5, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) received a request from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency (CBP) to conduct a test, examination and classification of Russian-made 7N6 5.45×39 ammunition for purposes of determining whether it is considered “armor piercing ammunition” as defined by the Gun Control Act (GCA), as amended. Since 1986, the GCA has prohibited the importation of armor piercing ammunition unless it is destined for government use or testing. The imported ammunition about which CBP was inquiring was not destined for either excepted purpose.

The Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA), as amended, defines the term “armor piercing ammunition” as:

“(i) a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium; or

(ii) a full jacketed projectile larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun and whose jacket has a weight of more than 25 percent of the total weight of the projectile.” (emphasis added)

When ATF tested the 7N6 samples provided by CBP, they were found to contain a steel core. ATF’s analysis also

Fort Hood Mother To Congress: Why Am I Better Armed Than My Son?

Tue, 04/08/2014 - 11:22

On April 6th, Lynda Voyles-Konecny said concealed carry allows her to be better armed than her son who was 100 feet from the Fort Hood shooter on April 2nd. She is asking Congress to change this.
According to Huntsville, Alabama’s WHNT 19, Voyles-Konecny said military personnel “defend us overseas, but they’re defenseless at bases.”
She continued, “They’re trained. They know the rules of engagement, we send them off to war, they have their guns, they come home, and then [their guns are] taken away from them on their home bases.”
Voyles-Konecny said every member of her family carries a concealed handgun for self-defense, except her son who is in harm’s way via his military service. She added, “I think we should have a dialogue to find out why and where we can improve. I think we need to have a defense where you have at least two officers that can be armed in all buildings on all military installations.”
As it stands now, Voyles-Konecny stated, “I’m in a better position to defend my family than [my son] is, and that’s a shame.”

Holder: We Want to Explore Gun Tracking Bracelets

Mon, 04/07/2014 - 14:07

“By making them either through finger print identification, the gun talks to a bracelet or something that you might wear, how guns can be used only by the person who is lawfully in possession of the weapon.”

“It’s those kinds of things that I think we want to try to explore so that we can make sure that people have the ability to enjoy their Second Amendment rights, but at the same time decreasing the misuse of weapons that lead to the kinds of things that we see on a daily basis,” Holder said.

The Justice Department has requested $382.1 million in increased spending for its fiscal year 2014 budget for “gun safety.”

Firearms and Weapons Charges in California

Fri, 04/04/2014 - 12:20

The state of California is well known for its strict and nuanced gun laws. For those unfamiliar with these restrictions or who are visiting or moving to California, these complex weapons laws have the potential to bring about severe penalties.

Many weapons related charges are felonies, with the determining factor between a felony and misdemeanor change revolving around the specific circumstances of the case. These circumstances include: the type of weapon possessed by the defendant upon arrest, intent with the weapon, and whether the defendant had prior criminal offenses.

As gun and weapon laws in California are detailed and involved, it is not possible to discuss all of them and their specifics at this time. However, being more informed about what the general laws and most common weapons charges are can help you know what to do if you or a loved one is concerned about facing a firearms charge.

There are many types of weapons charges in California, including the following:

  • Brandishing a weapon
  • Selling, leasing, or transferring a firearm without a license
  • Possessing an automatic assault weapon
  • Carrying a concealed weapon without a permit
  • Improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle
  • Shooting an object into a building that is occupied
  • Aggrav
