Shooting Competition With Your Concealed Carry Gear – 96

Mon, 08/25/2014 - 00:17

Shooting competitively with your concealed carry gear is a great way to shake out bugs in your carry rig. On Saturday night Ben and I both shot the PDHSC/Shoot2Live IDPA match in south Raleigh. Before the match Ben mentioned that he was going to shoot his carry gun in the match, and I followed suit. Ben shot his M&P9c from an IWB holster on his hip, and I shot my XDs 9mm from a Crossbreed MiniTuck.

Lessons from Shooting my CCW Rig in an IDPA Match

Sat, 08/23/2014 - 22:53

Earlier this evening I shot the PDHSC/Shoot2Live IDPA match in south Raleigh. I decided that today I would shoot my actual concealed carry setup in the match. Even though it’s a match tailored for concealed carry, I usually shoot IDPA with my Glock 34 from what is essentially a competition specific holster (even though it’s within IDPA’s rules, it’s not something I’d carry with outside of a shooting range.)

FPS Russia Breaks Character

Thu, 08/21/2014 - 16:38

I’ve not been a huge follower of FPS Russia over the years, but I do have a special place in my heart for videos of people blowing stuff up, and in that regard, FPS Russia never seems to disappoint.

In a recent Q&A video on his second YouTube channel, FPS Russla (Kyle) breaks character and talks a bit about his future plans for the channel and how we may start seeing more from Kyle in the future.

It’s definitely weird hearing him talk in a southern accent. It’s like I know it’s him, but something isn’t quite right…

Buy a Fully Automatic Rifle in Colorado in 20 Minutes

Thu, 08/21/2014 - 10:52

Don Lemon of CNN went full retard the other day talking about fully automatic vs. semi-automatic rifles. Thankfully, Ben Ferguson was on TV with him at the same time and attempted to set him straight live on air, however I don’t think he was able to get through to Lemon…

(Video Link for Email/RSS Readers)

Apparently the difference between a fully automatic, and semi-automatic firearm is semantics. I honestly wonder if Lemon is really this ignorant on the issue, or if he’s towing the anti-gun line in a misinformation campaign drum more support for the anti-gun cause.

If You Don’t EDC a Flashlight, You’re Wrong

Thu, 08/21/2014 - 06:07

Last week my wife and I slipped out on a weeknight for dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. It was a dark, rainy night, and we just wanted to get out of the house for a bit. I, of course, was packing my usual EDC gear (Springfield XDs 9mm in a Crossbreed MiniTuck, the Streamlight ProTac HL flashlight that’s been filling EDC duty after my 5.11 ATAC PLx died, keys, wallet, etc.)

Jerry Miculek Tests Earplugs as Rubber Bullets

Thu, 08/21/2014 - 00:29

Over the weekend a Huffington Post reporter made a gaffe on Twitter, asking if a pile of orange foam earplugs found on the ground in Ferguson, MO were rubber bullets.

Jerry Miculek recently posted a video testing the exact thing that we’ve all been wondering: What would it take to propel an earplug like a rubber bullet?

(Video link for Email/RSS Readers)

I definitely expected a lot more velocity from the earplugs, and I was really surprised that many of them didn’t even make it through the cardboard.
