The Truth About Guns

The Media Have Very Different Standards for Covering White and Black Gun Rights Advocates
There are a lot of taboos on commercial television, which for instance doesn’t like to show scenes of poverty (unless it’s being chased by police), rarely interviews non-voters, almost never does military contracting fraud stories, and seldom shows results on the ground of American military/drone strikes, even if they’ve already appeared on the airwaves of other countries.
Perhaps the most dependable taboo in American media, however, involves black Second Amendment advocates.
As Violent Crime and Response Times Soar in Washington, So Does Concealed Carry Permit Demand
From CCRKBA
Amid rising violent crime, Washington has reported a stunning number of active Concealed Pistol Licenses issued in a single month; proving that extremist gun control efforts in the Evergreen State have failed miserably and people realize it, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
New data from the state Department of Licensing shows law enforcement agencies around the state issued 11,292 CPLs in June.

Atlas: Today’s American Gun Culture is a Result of Mythologizing and Marketing the Old West
By Pierre M. Atlas, Indiana University
In the wake of the Buffalo and Uvalde mass shootings, 70% of Republicans said it is more important to protect gun rights than to control gun violence, while 92% of Democrats and 54% of independents expressed the opposite view. Just weeks after those mass shootings, Republicans and gun rights advocates hailed the Supreme Court ruling that invalidated New York state’s gun permit law and declared that the Second Amendment guarantees a right to carry a handgun outside the home for self-defense.
Fear the Wave: A Million Americans Have Switched Parties and a Lot of Them Plan to #GUNVOTE
It’s another harbinger of a possible political wipeout for gun control-supporting Democrats who have pushed policies that fail to hold criminals accountable for their crimes yet punish law-abiding Americans. The Associated Press reported on new analysis showing more than 1 million Americans have already joined the Republican Party.
FPC: Governments Can’t Be Trusted With Lists of Firearms Owners
From the Firearms Policy Coalition . . .
Earlier this week, California Attorney General Rob Bonta boasted in a press release that his Department of Justice had created a firearms dashboard portal to increase “transparency,” which resulted in the wholesale exposure of the personal information–including license to carry information–related to the gun owners who have complied with California’s onerous gun restrictions.
There is no way to sugarcoat the horrible violation of trust committed against Californians this week.
Jane Fonda: Free Women by Redefining Vaginas as AK-47s…or Something
“If a corporation can be defined as a person, why not redefine vaginas as AK47s,” She wrote. “That way they’d be free of governmental restrictions by those who care about ‘the sanctity of life.'”
Fonda echoed the sentiments of critics who have pointed out that abortions can now legally be banned, but the 2nd Amendment — which ensures the right to own a gun is protected — is still in place despite numerous mass shootings across the US.
Firearms Policy Coalition Files Ninth Circuit Motion to Lift Stay of California’s Assault Weapons Ban Ruling
Last year, Federal District Court Judge Roger Benitez ruled that California’s “assault weapons” ban is unconstitutional in Miller v. Bonta. Benitez applied the Heller decision’s ruling to his decision in the case. He then refused a request to stay his order while the case was appealed by the state to the Ninth Circuit court of appeals. A Ninth Circuit panel, naturally, issued a stay while they considered the case.
That was then.

As Expected, ‘May-Issue’ States Are Going to Have to be Forced Into Compliance With the Supreme Court’s Bruen Ruling
As nearly ideal as the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision was, no one thought the states that exercise maximum control over who can fully exercise their Second Amendment rights — and who can’t — would go quietly. As we wrote here, it was always clear they weren’t going to just throw up their hands and start issuing concealed carry permits as freely as they do the other 43 states where the right to keep and bear arms is actually respected.

‘Real’ Governor Stacey Abrams Wants Georgia to Get Behind Her Gun Control Agenda…Good Luck With That
Georgia Democratic candidate for governor Stacey Abrams is rolling out a gun control plan that includes restricting gun rights. It’s a gambit she believes state Republicans are ready to get behind.
Abrams wants to reverse course on several pro-gun measures signed into law by Georgia’s Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, including a repeal of the state’s Constitutional Carry law, enacting universal background checks for private firearm transfers and imposing so-called “red flag” laws that don’t protect Due Process rights.
New York Files Federal, State Lawsuits Against ‘Ghost Gun’ Parts Distributors
New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) announces charges against 10 companies that have sold “tens of thousands” of illegal ghost gun parts to New Yorkers. pic.twitter.com/mzCQ81SfU8
— The Recount (@therecount) June 29, 2022
The city and state of New York have filed separate federal and state lawsuits against a total of 15 distributors of “ghost gun” kits and parts. New York claims that selling firearm parts that allow individuals to build non-serialized firearms creates a public nuisance and is the reason for the spike in violent crime in the last two years.

Woke Politics and Bad Federal Polices That Created a War on Families Have Led to Today’s Disaffected Lone Wolf Killers
By Richard Fulmer
Too many of our nation’s young men use guns for evil. One knee-jerk response is to restrict gun ownership. But this solution ignores the most important question: What drives these young men to murder?
I’m personally all for trying to keep guns away from people with criminal records, mental illness, and histories of making violent threats. But the motives matter more than the means since a motivated person can adopt many different methods.

Bruen Ruling Puts Gun Control Laws Based on Lower Courts’ Interest-Balancing Rationales in Real Jeopardy
The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen did more than strike New York’s “may issue” subjective concealed carry permitting scheme. The ruling also told lower courts that attempting to balance the individual’s Constitutional right to keep and bear arms against the government’s interest in controlling that right violates the Constitution.
In other words, the Supreme Court told the lower courts to cut it out.
The Basics of Hunting in Southern Africa
After my first plains game safari in South Africa last year, I was fortunate enough to be offered some contract work that has taken me throughout southern Africa. Since that first trip, I’ve spent about four months on the continent, mostly in short 10 to 14-day chunks. Every time I work there, I tack on some time to hunt. I’m starting to get the hang of it. The first thing to know is . .

Kendi’s Claim That the 2nd Amendment is Racist Ignores Facts, History, and Reality
If Boston University professor and anti-racist activist Ibram X. Kendi is to be believed, millions of new first-time African American gun owners support slavery. That includes huge numbers of African American women, the fastest growing membership demographic within the National African American Gun Association (NAAGA) over the past two years.
Kendi joined CBS’s Face the Nation and somehow equated support for the Secondment Amendment and supporting the freedom to own a firearm with supporting the “freedom to enslave” people.
