The state Supreme Court on Friday ordered the acquittal of a Norwalk man who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a gun, saying there was not enough evidence to have convicted him. …

GRIM MILESTONE: Chicago Hits 500 Homicides For Year…More Than 38 Other States for All of 2019
Lori Lightfoot’s increasingly lawless Chicago reached a grim milestone on Thursday: 500 homicides so far this year. That’s more than 38 entire states tallied for the entire year of 2019. In fact, at the current rate, Murder City USA will likely reach homicide numbers not seen since the early 1990s.
Violent criminals and gang members (but I repeat myself) worked hard in July. They set the record for the third most homicides in a single month in the city’s long history.
Chipman Hit By Two New Scandals and Even His Buddies at CNN Took Note.
By now, President Biden’s nominee for ATF Director, David Chipman, is no stranger to scandals. He came under fire for lies he told about the Branch Davidian siege in Waco, Texas. There’s the fact that he’s been a paid lobbyist for Giffords and Everytown, and advocated that FFLs close and not be deemed an “essential business” during COVID lockdown. He’s also been accused of making racist comments about black colleagues during his time at the ATF.
Things That Don’t Suck: Long-Term Winkler Utility Knife Test
A while back my friends at The Knife Connection sent me a Winkler Utility Knife to put through some hard use tests. When say hard, I mean hard use. This knife has been put through the wringer in my barnyard and has been dropped in chicken sh*t piles. Not that that is a real standard of durability, but that’s only a small taste (yum) of what this knife has been though in my service.
Meet the Person Who’s Running Biden’s War On Guns and Second Amendment Rights
By Lee Williams
Joe Biden got lost in the bushes outside the White House Wednesday, after returning from a long weekend at his home in Wilmington, Delaware. Biden walked right past a Secret Service agent who was pointing the right way and stumbled into the bushes until he saw a side door, which he had to open himself. The President of the United States does not open his own doors at the White House.
Biden Pulls a Trump Card – Rare Breed FRT-15 Trigger Now Classified as a Machine Gun
The agency famous for once declaring a shoe string a machine gun has now targeted Florida-based company Rare Breed Triggers. An ATF letter to Rare Breed is floating around social media stating that the FRT-15 trigger has been classified as a machine gun under the National Firearms Act and that Rare Breed needs to cease and desist sales of the FRT-15 and contact the ATF within five days to develop a plan to address those machine guns already distributed.
Gun Meme of the Day: The HK SL8 Is Back Edition
In case y’all hadn’t heard, Heckler & Koch has brought back the SL8 and new-production units are hitting the market now at an MSRP of $1,699. It’s cool news, but it definitely sparked a lot of memes.

Maxim Defense PDX: Now Available in ‘Urban Grey’
It has been one of the most popular examples of personal defense weapon (PDW) released to date. Now, in addition to being chambered in 7.62×39 (which happened a few months ago), it’s available in a grey color scheme: it’s the Maxim Defense PDX Urban.
Here’s some of the info we’ve received so far:
The PDX is now available in Urban Grey. The PDX PDW, which had its genesis in USSOCOM, was originally born of the SOCOM PDW solicitation, and it continues to dominate CQB encounters and puts maximum energy on target.

Straw Purchaser of Gun Used to Kill a Chicago Cop is Released on an Unsecured Bond
On Sunday, Chicago Police Officer Ella French was shot and killed and her partner seriously wounded during a traffic stop. The gun used by the shooter was later traced back to an illegal straw purchase the buyer admitted to making for one of the men in the car.
After being indicted by a federal prosecutor, the buyer, Jamel Danzy of Hammond, Indiana, was released from custody on a $4500 unsecured bond. Chicago Police Superintendant David Brown then issued the following statement .
Gun Meme of the Day: Two Hands SBR Edition
“Most people” including, of course, the ATF. Here’s the section from my article on the proposed pistol brace “guidance” where the whole one-handed thing came up:
But let’s now look at two aspects of federal law. First, what is a “pistol,” anyway?
Pistol. A weapon originally designed, made, and intended to fire a projectile (bullet) from one or more barrels when held in one hand, and having (a) a chamber(s) as an integral part(s) of, or permanently aligned with, the bore(s); and (b) a short stock designed to be gripped by one hand and at an angle to and extending below the line of the bore(s).

The Challenge of Finding Remington 700 Parts in 2021
I have moved most of my custom rifles over to builds from Tuebor Precision. I’ve graduated to full custom bolt guns for most of my article production needs and I’m truly happy with my experience with Tuebor. But I’ve run into a problem recently with my legacy bolt guns, namely the few Model 700’s in my rotation, such as my tried-and-true 450 Bushmaster.
I’m not doing anything crazy, just trying to source and make improvements to my existing rifles when there is a scarcity of factory parts.

Watch: See-Through Suppressor at 110,000 Frames Per Second
TTAG’s Science Desk has turned us onto two videos from YouTube channel Smarter Every Day.
In the two fascinating videos, Destin films the flame and gas propagation within the baffles of Soteria Suppressors’ rifle silencers thanks to see-through some acrylic tubes and very high-speed video. It’s pretty sweet.
Most of us know how suppressors work. In theory. But seeing it happen makes a much stronger, more lasting impression.

US District Court: Cuffing, Detaining, and Searching Lawful Gun Owners Violates the Fourth Amendment
In 2018, Basel M. Soukaneh stopped his car to check his phone in a questionable area of Waterbury, Connecticut. When he was approached by a police officer, he presented his driver’s license and pistol permit, notifying the cop that he had a gun in the car.
The officer then frisked and cuffed Soukaneh and put him in the back of his patrol car while he searched the entire car. A flash drive and $320 in cash were confiscated.
Bloomberg: NRA Is Trying to Save Their Organization By Pushing Constitutional Carry… or Something
Over the last 18 months, Americans have taken their safety into their own hands, millions of them for the first time. The nationwide riots following the death of George Floyd, in conjunction with the pandemic, had more people asking how they can protect themselves and their loved ones.
Concerned Americans began purchasing firearms, which resulted in record numbers of new gun owners. Ammo remains scarce. And gun control advocates are pushing ahead full steam ahead.
Personal Defense is Much Easier When Home Invaders Shoot Each Other
“A 49-year-old man heard a loud disturbance at his front door just after 11 p.m. in the 9500-block of South Calhoun Avenue in the Jeffrey Manor neighborhood, Chicago police said. When he went to investigate, two masked, armed individuals forced their way inside, according to CPD.” That’s the story from abc7chicago.com.
The homeowner was unarmed, so he called for help from a couple of other men who were in the basement and the three foought back against the two home invaders.
Always Be Thinking: Put That Gun Away, ASAP!
Any firearms instructor worth his or her salt will try to teach their charges to break tunnel vision during a criminal attack. Heaven knows police officer trainees have “scan and assess the scene” drilled into their them too, and for good reason. It’s far too easy to concentrate on a perceived threat in front of you and miss other equally dangerous threats that might arise.
For example, a good guy with a gun in Phoenix recently decided he wanted to make contact with a pair of shoplifters.

Stock Photo Companies Promote ‘Gun Violence’ for Profit
By Lee Williams
The images are disgusting: a crying woman with an AK barrel in her mouth, children pointing guns at their own heads, a toddler pointing a GLOCK with their finger on the trigger – lots of photos of children with fingers on triggers.
These are stock images, known in the trade as photo illustrations, because they are set up in advance, as opposed to actual news photographs, which are taken live as news happens.

Bloomberg’s ‘The Trace’: The ATF Can’t Handle Regulating Pistol Braces as NFA Items
Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun agitprop shop, The Trace, is trumpeting the fact that if the Biden administration’s pistol brace proposed regulatory rule ever becomes ATF policy after the public comment period and process is complete, the federal firearms regulatory agency won’t be able to keep up with the demand to register the millions of braces that are owned by people who never signed up for the expense and bureaucracy of NFA regulation when they bought them.
