Kyle Rittenhouse Starts Up a New Gun Rights Org Focused on Supporting Individuals Who Have Defended Themselves

Fri, 08/18/2023 - 16:00

Literally nothing Kyle Rittenhouse does escapes notice. All of the usual suspects do literally everything they can to paint anything he’s involved in as somehow dark, nefarious, and deeply, deeply concerning. An easy tipoff is the apparent self-imposed minimum quota editors place on the use of terms like “far right” in any article they publish about him.

The latest spate of news of note is that Rittenhouse has founded a new gun rights org here in Texas.

Which 8 Great People of the Gun Would You Invite for a Day at the Range and Dinner?

Fri, 08/18/2023 - 14:00

By LKB

The “Dinner Party Hypothetical” is a common psychological thought experiment. In it, you’re asked to list a set number of people from history that you would invite to a dinner party (with the assumption, of course, that everyone would be fitted with something like a Babel Fish that removes any language or communication barriers).

Today’s experiment: Assume you can magically invite eight People of the Gun to dinner from all throughout history, whether they’re firearms designers, manufacturers, soldiers, lawmen, shooters, hunters…the choice is yours.

Gear Review: Simtek StealthALERT Security Sensor

Fri, 08/18/2023 - 12:00

More than five years ago, I reviewed the original Simtek security sensor device while they were still in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign to get that first product launched. Though it was Simtek’s earliest attempt at delivering their vision, it worked exactly as it was supposed to. Fast forward to today and the brand new StealthALERT sensor is available with refined features and additional functionality.

The original unit had a light sensor and an infrared motion sensor.

Thu, 08/17/2023 - 16:00

In a city where gunfire is more ubiquitous than bad pizza or losing professional sports teams, the first priority these days is minimizing the risk and damage to normal people who live there and haven’t yet been able to emigrate to safer locations around the country.

The “community group” called Native Sons has introduced an ordinance  The People’s Ordinance has put the call out to the city famously corrupt burg’s City Council Public Safety Committee for consideration.

Gavin Newsom is Plotting to Export California-Style Gun Control to the Rest of America

Thu, 08/17/2023 - 14:00

By Mark Oliva

Gun control politicians really are coming for America’s guns. There’s no denying it after California Gov. Newsom made his proposal for a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution official.

Gov. Newsom wants to export strict California gun control to the rest of America. He introduced a proposal for a Right to Safety — an amendment to the U.S. Constitution — that would strip Second Amendment rights from individuals and instead make the government the arbiter of which firearm “privileges” would be allowed.

Two Armed Customers Engage Three Vape Store Robbers, Killing Two of Them

Thu, 08/17/2023 - 12:00

Three hold-up men who were robbing a Shreveport vape store earlier this week lost track of who was in the business when they pulled their guns. In the image above, you can see two men on the left slip out the door as the thieves busied themselves with the clerk behind the counter on the right.

Here’s the video the Shreveport PD have released (you may have to view it at Facebook) .

Who Can You Trust After a Defensive Gun Use? Your Attorney

Thu, 08/17/2023 - 10:00

By Brad Fitzpatrick

In 2020, Adam Nievar moved into his elderly grandfather’s home. Nievar planned to help his grandfather with daily tasks around the house, but his grandfather, who had a history of alcohol abuse and run-ins with the law for violent behavior and alcohol-related offenses, proved to be a difficult housemate.

He frequently started fights with his grandson. One evening, as Nievar prepared to leave for work, his grandfather initiated a fight and threatened to shoot him.

Gun Review: Beretta 21A Bobcat Kale Slushy Rimfire Pistol

Wed, 08/16/2023 - 12:00

Beretta’s diminutive tilt-barrel pistol, the 21A Bobcat, has been in production since 1984. Chambered in .22 LR and .25 ACP, the Bobcat lives comfortably in purses, night stands, glove compartments, fanny packs, and pockets. Looking to entice the modern shooter with a classic gun, Beretta has released a few good-looking Bobcat (and .32 ACP Tomcat) flavors complete with threaded barrels for suppressed use.

I got my hands on a Kale Slushy Bobcat and put it through its paces.

Let’s Take a Look at New Jersey’s New ‘John Wick’ Concealed Carry Permit Qualifying Standards

Wed, 08/16/2023 - 10:00

By Lee Williams

After the U.S. Supreme Court issued its historic Bruen decision, which obliterated most state restrictions on the public carrying of arms and changed forever how lower courts should decide Second Amendment-related challenges to anti-gun regulations, many blue states seemingly tried to outdo each other with the number of unconstitutional post-Bruen tantrum laws they could pass. At this, New Jersey certainly lead the way, especially for its residents seeking to carry a defensive firearm.

University of Michigan Red Flag Confiscation Law Research Determines That More Research Is Needed

Wed, 08/16/2023 - 08:00

The study, published online in The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science in June, examined four types of laws that restrict access to firearms from individuals, including those considered to be at risk of harming themselves or others. These are often known as red flag laws, and place restrictions on people versus weapons. They are opposed by many Republicans and gun rights groups. Michigan passed such a law in May, following 20 other states, in response to the Feb.

Gun Meme of the Day: Gun Control is Classist Edition

Tue, 08/15/2023 - 18:00

Fact check: TRUE

Gun control has always been racist, and when they have to hide their racism, they fall back on classism — laws, fees, restrictions, and taxes that limit a constitutionally-protected right to those with sufficient resources.

It’s a confusing meme if you haven’t seen other versions of it and already “get it.” So, for the first time, I’ve gone ahead and googled it for you: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/wait-its-all-ohio-always-has-been

A proposal for fighting crime by the city of Oakland, California police department is raising a lot of noise and a satirical response from The Babylon Bee – Fake News You Can Trust.

Gun Review: Taurus Defender 856 TORO Revolver

Tue, 08/15/2023 - 12:00

Most of the revolvers I’ve ever owned have been from Taurus. I used to believe revolvers were the more reliable gun, but every Taurus revolver I’ve own has had some major malfunction. That includes triggers that could lock into single action, cylinders that wouldn’t advance, and right a broken Judge whose cylinder wouldn’t lock into the gun.

I gave up on Taurus revolvers, but recently Taurus has had made some serious changes in leadership, machinery, and quality control.

Incomplete Data: One-Third of American Cities No Longer Report Crime Statistics to the FBI

Thu, 08/10/2023 - 16:00

By Salam Fatohi

Tracking crime statistics – and more importantly, whether or not crime is rising or falling in the United States – is getting harder to do. That’s because nearly a third of America’s cities are no longer reporting crime statistics to the FBI.

This is more than just a problem for policymakers looking for data to address the cities most in need of assistance. It also means that some policymakers are demanding bad policy because they’re relying on incomplete data.
