Gear Review: Streamlight TLR-7 Sub Gun Light

Mon, 07/24/2023 - 16:00

Shrinking tech doesn’t affect the gun industry much. There’s only so much room for a 5.56-round or a 9mm magazine. Where we see some advancement is in the electronics we slap on our guns.

Red dots and lights have slowly gotten smaller while also getting more powerful. The Streamlight TLR-7 SUB, for example, can fit on a subcompact or micro-compact pistol and still provide a bright white light source when you need it most.

Why Has a Minnesota Man Been Charged With Two Felonies for Making Legal Firearms for His Own Use?

Mon, 07/24/2023 - 14:00

Despite the best efforts of the Biden Administration and the weaponized regulatory apparatus that is the ATF, it’s still legal for Americans to build their own firearms in most of the United States. Since a now obscure California politician coined the goosebump-inducing moniker “ghost gun” almost a decade ago, the Gun Control Industry™ latched onto it and the media have compliantly echoed the term ever since. All the better to scare the bejeezus out of low-information types and drive home the immediacy of the dire threat that home-made firearms pose to a peaceful society.

Home Invader Shot by BOTH Homeowners When They Returned Fire During Burglary Attempt

Mon, 07/24/2023 - 10:00

McDonald County, Missouri is in the extreme southwest part of the state, hard on the borders of Oklahoma and Arkansas. It’s an Ozark county populated by people who declared their independence from the state in 1961. In short, they’re not people you want to mess with.

If only a would-be burglar knew a little more about McDonald County before he let himself into a local home last week.

Two homeowners came home at about 9:30pm to find 62-year-old James Garrett skulking around their Tiff City house.

A field division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) received criticism over a photo posted to Twitter showing a potentially unsafe gun fail.

The photo, which appeared in a tweet posted by the ATF‘s Houston division was roasted by several users on Twitter, who pointed out that it was an unsafe gun practice to point a gun towards someone’s crotch as they are loading the magazine.

Personal Defense Tip: Practice The Tueller Drill [VIDEO]

Sun, 07/23/2023 - 16:00

In a town a little north of me, police shot and killed a woman who was armed with a knife and threatening people in a convenience store. In the aftermath, when interviewed by local TV stations, everyone there who talked to the reports expressed surprise. Two people said they didn’t see why the police had to shoot her, as she “only had a knife.”

To show why police shoot noncompliant folks who are armed “only” with knives, I paraphrase Massad Ayoob, who once said that we must respect any weapon that can send us to the morgue in more than one body bag.

Gear Review: Primary Arms SLx RS-10 Red Dot Sight

Sun, 07/23/2023 - 13:00

If you’ve seen a lot of pistol red dot reviews around here recently, it’s because of their increased popularity and the number of manufacturers that are adding to and updating their lines to meet the demand. Primary Arms has been known for good, affordably-priced optics for years and their SLx RS-10 1×23 3 MOA red dot carries on that tradition.

The RS-10 is the first red dot sight Primary Arms has designed entirely themselves.

A Question of Balance: In Praise of the Manual Safety

Sun, 07/23/2023 - 10:00

By John Sprague

There is a large contingent of gun users — many of them here — who are adamant that the only safety a gun needs is some self-control over the use of your booger hook. I would like to present an alternative view.

Manual safeties are not the enemy of readiness that some would have you believe. We can probably agree that the highest state of readiness a gun owner can achieve is to have a gun in each hand pointing at anyone who might possibly pose a threat to your or your family.

FBI Monitoring Gun Owners Who Sell Firearms Via Facebook

Sun, 07/23/2023 - 08:00

A Texas man who posted on Facebook that he was selling his own guns was placed under warrantless surveillance by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The ATF investigated the man, found no evidence, yet gave his information to the FBI to monitor him for at least six months.

According to internal documents reviewed by The Epoch Times, two ATF special agents interviewed the Hispanic man who admitted to “advertising” his personal firearms for sale on Facebook.

Pushback From Gun Rights Orgs Causes San Francisco to Table Proposed Bruen Response Law

Fri, 07/21/2023 - 14:00

By Chuck Michel

The San Francisco County Board of Supervisors has backed down on a proposed ordinance that would make much of the city into a “gun-free zone” after the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA) promised legal action.

San Francisco has long been the California city most opposed to the right to keep and bear arms. In 2003 the city tried to ban handguns entirely.

Biden’s War On Guns Prompting Big Box Gun Sellers’ Unreasonably Restrictive Gun Sales Policies

Fri, 07/21/2023 - 12:00

By Lee Williams

Cecil Trimble, a 35-year-old restaurant manager, took a fishing reel to Bass Pro Shop’s Tampa store last week to be re-spooled with new line. As he was waiting, he wandered over to the gun department and immediately spotted the object of his recent desire.

Trimble had been searching for a SIG SAUER P365 XMACRO for weeks. The problem was, so had everybody else. Bass Pro wanted around $800 for the 9mm pistol and Trimble didn’t hesitate.

House Appropriations Committee Includes Language to Protect Traditional Hunting Ammo

Thu, 07/20/2023 - 16:00

One of the long-running strategies of the anti-gun left and the Biden administration in particular, has been to erect barriers, rules, and requirements making the standard carry and use of firearms more difficult, more onerous, and more expensive for everyone who chooses to do so. One of those angles of attack has been to claim that the use of traditional lead-based ammunition is a clear and present danger to every species that flies, crawls or swims.

Pay No Attention to the Ginned-Up Faux Outrage Over Jason Aldean’s Song

Thu, 07/20/2023 - 13:00

By Peter Elias

OK Shannon Watts, now do ANTIFA, BLM, and a lot of rap music. You know, since you’re so concerned with violence and all. No? Why not? Because you are a bunch of virtue signaling, identity politics-playing, phony cowards, that’s why. It’s amazing how decades of violence in other music and media create no expressions of deep concern from you and your mentally ill, politically slanted ilk.

Movies and video games?

First Night Jitters: Philly Pizza Delivery Guy Shoots One of Two Armed Carjackers

Thu, 07/20/2023 - 12:00

Yesterday we highlighted a defensive gun use that took place in our nation’s capital. Today, we move up America’s gold coast on the Acela line to the City of Brotherly Love where violent crime continues to set records and the city can see as many as 10 carjackings in a weekend.

The good news for Philadelphians is that Pennsylvania has much better gun laws than does the District. That means it’s far easier for the average Philly denizen to legally carry a firearm.

One Attacker Shot, Another on the Run as Washington, DC Carjackers Choose Their Victim Poorly

Wed, 07/19/2023 - 16:00

If you’re unfortunate enough to reside or work in our nation’s capital and want to exercise your Second Amendment rights to their fullest extent possible, you’ll need to navigate the bureaucratic nightmare that is the District’s concealed carry permitting process. That means completing an application which included authorizing the city to access your mental health records, and certifying that you’ve had at least 16 hours of firearms training plus two hours of range training.

In all, you’ll spend somewhere between $500 and $1000 to do all of that.

Everytown Targets Gun Dealers, Publishes Searchable Data Base of FFLs

Wed, 07/19/2023 - 14:00

From NRA-ILA . . .

Here we go again. Four years after then-Vice President Joe Biden said, “Our enemy is the gun manufacturers,” gun control advocates are still trying to convince Americans that violent crime results from law-abiding businesses providing a constitutionally-protected product under exacting government scrutiny.

Amidst the gun prohibition lobby’s never-ending — and usually illegal — campaign of harassing lawsuits, Everytown has now upped the ante with its new “research” effort, “Inside the Gun Shop.” The point is not to shed understanding on America’s heavily regulated firearm industry, however.

Sen. Chris Murphy Using the Defense Authorization Bill to Attack Service Members’ Individual Gun Rights

Wed, 07/19/2023 - 12:00

By Mark Oliva

It takes a certain amount of brazenness to put the responsibility of defending the nation on a young American and then, in the next breath, demand they forfeit those freedoms they are literally willing to die to protect.

U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) is never one to disappoint, though. His latest legislative move is to put a target on the back of every service member as someone who cannot be entrusted to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

Weaponized ATF Tactical Raids Endangering Americans’ Lives…Again

Wed, 07/19/2023 - 10:00

By Lee Williams

During the 30 years that have passed since ATF’s botched raid in Waco, Texas, which led to 82 civilian deaths – including 28 children – and four federal agents, the agency appears to have forgotten that when it picks fights for no reason and uses excessive force, law-abiding Americans pay with their lives.

A story we published last week – much to everyone’s horror – revealed that the ATF has started raiding again.
