SIG SAUER Upgrades Their FOXTROT Weapon Mounted Lights

Fri, 07/14/2023 - 16:00

SIG SAUER is upgrading their pistol lights with two new models. The FOXTROT2R is made for standard 1913 rails on compact and full-size pistols. The FOXTROT365XR is made for SIG’s proprietary rails on their P365 line of pistols. Both models feature more output and longer battery life than earlier SIG weapons mounted lights.

With an increased output of 700 Lumens and 20,000 Candela, the all-new FOXTROT2R produces a bright yet focused beam capable of meeting the needs of tactical professionals and firearm enthusiasts alike.

Animal Rights Idiocy Redux: Nonhuman Rights Project Now Taking Aim at Colorado Elephants

Fri, 07/14/2023 - 14:00

The Nonhuman Rights Project (NhRP) can’t take a hint, let alone a strongly-worded legal decision stating their ongoing efforts to gain “personhood” rights for elephants is absurd. It’s said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

That would apply here, yet again, to NhRP’s latest attempt at legal gymnastics. During their most recent failed attempt at having a court deem Happy the Elephant, in the care of the Bronx Zoo, a person with rights, the judges were irritated at NhRP’s claims.

NSSF Sues to Block Hawaii’s ‘Nuisance’ Law Targeting Gun Makers and Sellers

Thu, 07/13/2023 - 16:00

One of the increasingly popular strategies used by anti-gun states to try to get around the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act is to claim that firearms themselves and even their advertising present a unique public nuisance that threatens the state of law, order and peaceful coexistence that would surely exist without them.

The PLCAA protects firearm manufacturers and retailers against lawsuits if their products are used by criminals to do what criminals do.

Why Aren’t the Killers in City Hall Ever Arrested, Charged, and Prosecuted?

Thu, 07/13/2023 - 14:00

By Rob Morse

Suppose a criminal commits a crime a gun. Go a step further and suppose he does something truly awful and shoots several people in the process. If you’re an anti-gun politician, the obvious conclusion is it’s now time to disarm your gun-owning neighbors.

Do elected anti-gun zealots care that implementing their bigoted disarmament fantasies not only infringe on human rights, but also leave us with even more dead victims?

The Second Amendment Law Center is pleased to announce that some very impressive and persuasive amicus briefs were filed in the Third Circuit Court of Appeal on Monday supporting three critical cases pending before the Third Circuit: Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association v. Delaware DHS, Gray v. Jennings, and Graham v. Jennings. These cases all challenge Delaware’s law banning many semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity magazines.

Ryan Busse: Lying Fearmonger, Yes…Firearm Industry Expert, Not So Much

Thu, 07/13/2023 - 10:00

Any time the media’s favorite former “gun guy”-turned-gun control advocate gets invited to speak about gun control, hold on. It’s going to be a wild ride.

Ryan Busse, Senior Advisor for Giffords gun control group, was invited to MSNBC’s “Reidout” to speak with host Joy Reid as she bemoaned that she was allegedly afraid to leave her home on Independence Day for celebrations because “America’s awash in guns” and is insane.

Wed, 07/12/2023 - 12:00

The National Association for Gun Rights has issued a Travel Advisory for gun owners to and within Massachusetts in response to the State Legislature’s 140 page bill, House Docket 4420. HD 4420 is a comprehensive gun control bill that would ostensibly ban more guns than any current law in the United States.

These are some of the provisions contained in the bill:

* Updates the state definition of “Assault-style firearm” to ban almost all semiautomatic firearms.

City of Indianapolis Passes a Slate of New Illegal Gun Control Laws

Wed, 07/12/2023 - 10:00

Like so many other big government entities, the city of Indianapolis, which has had nothing but Democrats in the mayor’s office since the first Eisenhower administration, likes to blame its problems on, well, anyone and everything else but its own elected officials and policies.

Looking to “do something” about the increase in crime that’s affected most big blue cities since the pandemic and the George Floyd Summer of Love™, Mayor Joe Hogsett is now blaming…guns.

Springfield Gets Into the Modular Handgun Market With the New Echelon 9mm

Wed, 07/12/2023 - 08:02

Apparently wanting to emulate the success of SIG SAUER’s modular P320 and P365 designs along with the entire ecosystems of parts and accessories that have grown up around the guns, Springfield Armory has now gotten into the modular handgun business. You have to wonder why most other gun makers still haven’t done the same.

Like the SIG guns, the new Echelon 9mm pistols revolve around its serialized fire control group which is the legal “firearm” that requires a background check to purchase.

Gun Meme of the Day: Making it Worse Edition

Tue, 07/11/2023 - 17:00

There’s always room to make things worse and you can count on a government agency to find it. The 4473 just keeps getting more convoluted.

I suppose if they make it complicated enough it’ll be rare for anyone to actually fill it out correctly, and then I’m sure they’ll get a pass just like Hunter Biden did even though he committed perjury rather than a mistake.

At least I’m still able to answer the Form 4473’s male/female/non-binary question without assistance.

Pro Tip: Look at Your Ammo As You’re Loading Your Magazines

Tue, 07/11/2023 - 15:00

I was minding my own business at the Range at Austin yesterday, sending lead downrange while testing out a red dot sight. The Primary Arms SLx RS-10 is an impressive optic (especially for its price) with lots going for it…but more on that later.

As I was squeezing off a few shots at 10 yards when the pistol jammed.

Did that surprise me? Yes it did. I had mounted the RS-10 on a damn-near bulletproof FN 509 Midsize Tactical pistol.

California, Where Even Reading About Guns is Banned

Tue, 07/11/2023 - 13:00

Meanwhile in California, pornographic books are apparently just fine for K-12 school libraries, but periodicals about firearms are adults-only restricted material everywhere in the state. This is a shocking level of book banning!

This is actually nothing new. Cal-unicorn-ia had effectively banned images of handguns in public spaces for a full century. That blatant First Amendment violation was overturned by a federal judge only a few years ago as part of a lawsuit filed against our current, uncontrollably cackling Vice President who was then the AG of CA.

Smith & Wesson’s New 30+1 M&P22 MAGNUM Chambered in .22 WMR

Tue, 07/11/2023 - 07:07

Here’s something we didn’t see coming. Smith & Wesson’s latest addition to their popular M&P line is chambered in .22 WMR. It’s a full-size pistol with a 5-inch barrel, internally hammer-fired, fiber optic sights, and yes, it’s optic-ready. It also hold thirty — that’s 30 — plus one rounds. It’s a shame the barrel isn’t threaded, but we’d guess that option is coming.

Here’s their press release and some specs . . .

Gun Meme of the Day: Brace Yourself Edition

Mon, 07/10/2023 - 18:00

The government: “this accessory is bad because it allows the shooter to indiscriminately ‘spray’ bullets.”

Also the government: “this accessory is bad because it allows the shooter to more accurately place bullets.”

It’s almost as though they just don’t like the citizenry owning guns.

Law Enforcement Report Reveals the Failure of the Washington’s Gun Control Laws

Mon, 07/10/2023 - 16:00

From the CCRKBA . . .

A new report released Monday by the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) offers ample evidence that two extremist gun control initiatives, along with additional legislation pushed by Democrat lawmakers has failed miserably, and should be repealed, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

“WASPC data released Monday showing a 96 percent increase in homicides since 2019 is damning proof that billionaire-backed gun control measures were, as we predicted, false pie-in-the-sky promises,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb.

ATF Investigators SWEAR They Didn’t Know Michael Cargill Was Suing The Agency When They Audited His Gun Store

Mon, 07/10/2023 - 14:00

Question: If you’re an individual who’s suing a federal regulatory agency and that agency then knocks on your door to conduct an audit of your business operations, is it reasonable to conclude that the two events are connected? Would it be fair to suspect the agency of trying to harass the plaintiff who’s been challenging their rulemaking…and winning?

That’s exactly what’s happened to Michael Cargill who owns Central Texas Gun Works in south Austin.

Reeves: The Bruen Ruling Cedes Too Much Power to the ‘Dead Hand of the Past’

Mon, 07/10/2023 - 08:00

In District of Columbia v. Heller, the 2008 case finding that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms, the court asserted that “nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on long-standing prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill.” In concurring opinions in Bruen, Justices Samuel A. Alito Jr. and Brett M. Kavanaugh made similar assurances.

Other courts — the government cited 120 post-Bruen cases — have relied on that to find the federal ban on felons possessing firearms passes constitutional muster.
