...Handgun Open Carry Set To Pass In Texas

A law legalizing the open carry of handguns is close to passing in the Lone Star State, one of only six states that still don’t allow any type of open carry. The state does allow long guns to be openly carried in public.
The bill was approved 101-42, despite efforts by Democrats to water it down and allow big cities to opt out. Governor Greg Abbott is expected to sign the bill after it is combined with a similar bill that passed the State Senate last week.
In addition to the handgun open carry bills that just passed, there is also a campus carry bill that is currently sitting in the House.
Despite its reputation for cowboys and conservatism, Texas has always had restrictive gun laws due to the political influence of big cities like Houston and Dallas. Now the state is finally living up to its image.

...Why I Carry a Gun: Another Shooting in Corinth Mississippi

For a small town Corinth Mississippi has more than its share of shootings. This past Wednesday two people were shot while sitting in the parking lot between McDonald’s and Belk off Hwy 72.
WTVA reports;
Corinth Police Chief Ralph Dance says two men were sitting in a car when a black pick-up truck pulled up beside the car, rolled down the window and fired one shot.
Chief Dance says the bullet went through one victim’s shoulder and grazed the other victim before lodging in the door.
We’re told the shooter was a female and a male was also in the truck. After firing the shot, Chief Dance says the pair took off.
One victim was treated and released from the local hospital and the other was flown to Memphis. According to WTVA authorities do not believe this shooting was gang related.
