Connecticut Officer Reportedly Tells Citizen: ‘I Give My Left N** to Bang Down Your Door and Come for Your Gun’

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 21:48

A Connecticut officer with the Branford Police Department has reportedly been placed on extended leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation after he allegedly told a Facebook user he couldn’t wait to “bang down your door and come for your gun.”

Connecticut resident John Cinque, whose passionate remarks to lawmakers on the state’s new gun registration laws went viral, provided screenshots of a Facebook conversation involving Officer Joseph Peterson to the conservative blog Freedom Outpost. The officer is reportedly a “long-time friend” of Cinque’s.

The heated debate reportedly began over Connecticut’s new gun control law that technically turned gun owners who refuse to register their semi-automatic rifles and/or high-capacity magazines into felons overnight.

After some unfriendly conversation, Peterson — who was off-duty — eventually wrote: “I give my left nut to bang down your door and come for your gun …… y

He Never Carried a Gun Until About a Year Ago. He Figured He Would Never Have to Use It. Then He Got This Phone Call.

When a knife-wielding burglary suspect broke into an elderly woman’s home in Seymour, Tenn., on Wednesday night, he had no idea her son was only two minutes away — and armed. If he had, he surely wouldn’t have still been there when he arrived.

Colin Patrick Lynch, 29, was eventually arrested and charged with one count of aggravated burglary and two counts of aggravated assault. Though he didn’t know it, he never had the upper hand.

When Lynch first arrived at the home, 83-year-old Christine Guffey was on the phone. The voice on the other end of the line was her son, Kenny Guffey.

Obama’s Surgeon General Pick Has an Interesting Take on…Gun Control

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 16:01

Second Amendment advocates are worried about President Barack Obama’s nominee for surgeon general, a political ally of the president and strong proponent of gun restrictions.

Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy is the president and founder of Doctors for America, which grew from the campaign organization that was called Doctors for Obama, started in 2008. The organization has advocated for a number of liberal initiatives, including strongly supporting the passage of Obamacare and Medicaid expansion.

This State Could Jail U.S. Agents Who Enforce Federal Gun Laws

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 10:01

A proposal in Missouri to nullify certain federal gun control laws could actually mean jail for federal agents who try to enforce them.

The nullification legislation passed the House General Laws Committee on Thursday, the Associated Press reported, after having passed the full state Senate last month.

The bill says any federal law impeding Missourians’ Second Amendment rights is null and void. Federal agents enforcing such laws could face civil or criminal penalties up to one year in jail with a $1,000 fine.

The effort might be futile, as courts have

Watch: Detroit Police Chief Goes All Common Sense on Guns, Puts Thugs on Notice

Fri, 03/07/2014 - 20:15

Detroit Police Chief James Craig shared plenty of common sense wisdom on guns in a recent interview with WDIV-TV. Even though plenty of anti-gun city officials are on record urging residents to call the police rather than use a firearm, Craig knows that is not always a viable option.

Craig also said he wants criminals in Detroit to know they shouldn’t just be afraid of the police — they should also be afraid of responsible gun owners who are prepared to defend themselves and their homes.

“A lot of good Detroiters are fed up,” Craig said. “The message should be that, you know, people are going to protect themselves.”

Church Advertises AR-15 Giveaway With a Very Interesting Bible Verse

Fri, 03/07/2014 - 10:43

A New York church is planning to give away an AR-15 during a service later this month.

To announce the giveaway, Grace Baptist Church in Troy, N.Y. distributed a flier proclaiming, “Win a FREE AR-15″ and just below that, “…my peace I give unto you… John 14:27.”

Church attendance is required to win the gun. The flier states that Grace Baptist “reserves the right to disqualify those of questionable character” and that all applicants must be 18 or older and will be subject to a federal background check.

The church pastor didn’t respond to an interview request from WNYT-TV.

Anti-Gun Groups Force Policy Change On Facebook

Fri, 03/07/2014 - 08:00

Facebook and its subsidiary Instagram announced a change in policy imposing age and content restrictions for firearms related material. This was done mostly in response to a VentureBeat story and pressure from anti-gun groups in which they allege that Facebook is a hotbed of illegal gun sale activity. According to the article:

“The illegal transactions then take place in diners, dark parking lots, and isolated country roads — away from the prying eyes of the feds and local police…”

The only problems are that these transactions are not illegal, no one is actually buying or selling guns on Facebook, nor do they provide an actual example of one illegal gun sale in a diner, dark parking lot, or on an isolated country road.

Legitimate face-to-face firearms transactions between law abiding adults in the same state have been upheld time and again by the courts as legal commerce. Those who would engage in illegal activity would do so if Facebook had never come into existence. And interstate sales, even if facilitated on the internet, are subject to the same rules one would experience at a

Video: Governor Who Signed Gun Registration Bill in Conn. Mentions the Constitution at Town Hall, Gets Called Out Perfectly by Heckler

Thu, 03/06/2014 - 23:37

While speaking at a town hall meeting in Milford, Conn., on Wednesday, Gov. Dannel Malloy was interrupted by a heckler who advised him to read the Constitution sometime.

The comment came when Gov. Malloy, a Democrat, was answering a question from a small business owner who said he is at a disadvantage to businesses in adjacent states that have a lower wage structure.

“I think that’s not only a state issue, but we’ve got this thing called the Constitution, so it makes it a little difficult to do some of the things you suggest,” Malloy replied with a smile.

Suddenly a woman’s voice is heard shouting: “Why don’t you read it sometime!”

A few snickers followed, but the governor just blew past the remark.

Watch the video below:

Gov. Malloy has faced intense criticism over his support of Connecticut’s new gun registration bill, which many believe is unconstitutional.

The bill has technically turned gun owners who legally purchased semiautomatic rifles into felons overnight after many have refused to register their guns and high-capacity magazines.

The state has yet to announce how or if they plan on enforcing the new law with criminal

Police Say This Gun Owner Just Sent a Deadly Message to Detroit Criminals

Thu, 03/06/2014 - 19:45

A Detroit gun owner shot and killed an intruder who, along with an accomplice, tried to break into his home on Thursday. The second intruder managed to escape with his life and is currently being hunted by police.

The unidentified homeowner told police he heard glass break at around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. He witnessed a man climbing in through a window — so he armed himself and shot the suspect.

The intruder, identified as a 17-year-old male, collapsed on the driveway and was later pronounced dead due to a gunshot wound to the chest. The other suspect who fled is in his 20s.

Mom Holds 23-Year-Old Man at Gunpoint – and He’s Lucky She Didn’t Start Shooting After What He Did to Her Teen Daughter

Wed, 03/05/2014 - 22:30

A mother in Fort Mill, S.C., held a 23-year-old man at gunpoint until police arrived after she discovered he was having sex with her 15-year-old daughter.

Though it was only a BB rifle, the man is lucky she fought the urge to start shooting. The mom, whose identity is being withheld to protect her daughter, said she just might have started shooting if the man hadn’t lied to her and said he was only 17.

“If I knew he was 23 at the time, I probably would have pulled this BB gun and shot him,” she told WBTV.

Pro-Gun Sentiment Dominates Social Media

Wed, 03/05/2014 - 08:30

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Lately there has been much debate over what that means. As a firearms enthusiast and social media analyst, I wanted to cut through the noise and listen to the unscripted, unsolicited, social media conversation on guns.

Back in November when I sat down with Glenn on TheBlaze TV, our data showed that 64 percent of non-party affiliated voters indicated positive sentiment towards the Second Amendment. And many indicating negative sentiment were only negative on certain sub issues, for example fully automatic weapons. The call for outright gun bans were few. Current data suggests that support for the Second Amendment has risen slightly.

I first analyzed Twitter, and have to admit I was surprised.

New York Man Charged With Manslaughter After Loved Ones Say He Did ‘What Anybody Would Do to Protect His Family’

Wed, 03/05/2014 - 06:30

A New York man is facing a manslaughter charge after he shot and killed a suspected burglar almost seven months ago. While the man’s family and attorney argue the incident is a clear case of self-defense, the District Attorney’s Office in Huntington Station, N.Y., claims the burglar was shot while running away.

Youssef Abdel-Gawad says he was only trying to protect his family when he fought back against a total of five intruders on Aug. 21, 2013, killing one of them.

Ohio Fifth-Grader Suspended for Exposing Other Students to a ‘Level 2 Lookalike Firearm’ (Guess What It Was)

Tue, 03/04/2014 - 09:47

An Ohio principal suspended a 10-year-old boy from school for three days for pointing his finger like a gun at another student, the latest in a long string of disciplinary actions taken in response to zero tolerance gun policies.

The official suspension letter last week cited the fifth-grader with exposing other students to a “level 2 lookalike firearm.”

The boy’s father, Paul Entingh, is outraged, accusing school officials at Devonshire Alternative Elementary School in Columbus, Ohio, of acting like children.

“He said he was playing,” Paul Entingh said. “It would even make more sense m

The Way Texas Cop Responds to Group of Armed Open Carry Advocates Makes This Video Viral-Worthy – Just Not for the Reason You Might Expect

Mon, 03/03/2014 - 19:55

As we’ve noted in previous reports, sometimes things can spin out of control when open carry activists and police officers meet. That was certainly not the case in Austin, Texas, when an officer responded to a call about “suspicious” men openly carrying rifles.

In a video posted on YouTube in January by the activist group Come and Take It Texas, an officer is seen approaching the armed men in a non-aggressive fashion.

“Just checking you guys out,” he says in the video. “I already know the law.”

A business owner in National City, Calif., claims politics are behind recent attempts by city officials to have him remove a storefront billboard featuring the silhouette of an AR-15-style rifle.

“The sign is not coming down. I will be in jail or dead before that sign comes down,” Dimitri Karras, a former United States Marine and the CEO of Ares Armor, said in a recent interview with Guns.com.

Fed-Up Navy Veteran Forewarned Conn. Lawmakers on Gun Registration: ‘I’m Telling You Right Now, I Will Not Comply’

Mon, 03/03/2014 - 15:00

Now that tens of thousands of gun owners in Connecticut are in direct violation of a hastily-passed gun control law, a video of a fed-up Navy veteran warning lawmakers that he “will not comply” with the law is just going viral. As previously reported by TheBlaze, as many as 100,000 gun owners technically became felons overnight because they chose not to register their semi-automatic rifles and/or high-capacity magazines.

A man, identified as John S. Cinque, reportedly appeared at a public meeting in North Haven, Conn., on April 22, 2013, to confront lawmakers over the gun control law.

Cinque started by asking if the bill would have done anything to prevent the tragic Sandy Hook shooting. Eventually, Connecticut State Rep. David Yaccarino (R) replied, “maybe not.”

‘.0000672 Percent’: Why Concealed Carry Permit Holders Will Want to Hear About Such a Small Number From a Former Navy SEAL

Mon, 03/03/2014 - 13:25

0.0000672 percent.

It may seem small, but according to former Navy SEAL Dom Raso, who’s also an NRA commentator, that number makes a big difference for concealed carry permit holders, especially in Florida.

“Since 1987, the state of Florida has issued 2.5 million concealed-carry permits,” Raso says in his latest opinion piece for the NRA News network. “Of those, only 168 people have committed firearms crimes. That’s .0000672 percent of the total amount issued. .0000672 percent.”

Detroit Home Intruder Learns When a Woman Tells You She’s Armed, You Really Should Listen

Fri, 02/28/2014 - 20:30

A home intruder in Detroit didn’t survive his encounter with an armed woman on Friday, but perhaps his fate can serve as a warning to other criminals.

Police told WXYZ-TV that a man in his 20s attempted to break into a woman’s home through a rear window. The female homeowner retrieved her handgun and warned the intruder that she was armed.

The criminal apparently chose not to take her warning seriously and continued to attempt to gain entry into her house. Detroit Police 3rd Deputy Chief Rodney Johnson said the woman “told him to stop, but he didn’t listen.”

She then fired one shot at the suspect

Is Gun Confiscation on the Way in Connecticut? See the Letter the State Is Reportedly Sending to Owners of ‘Illegal’ Firearms

Wed, 02/26/2014 - 22:06

After tens of thousands of defiant gun owners in Connecticut chose not to register their semi-automatic rifles to comply with a hastily-passed gun control law, the state is now taking some action. Officials are reportedly notifying gun owners who submitted late applications that they have one last chance to get rid of their “illegal” weapons.

State officials did accept some gun registration applications that were submitted after the Jan. 4 deadline, however, not all late applications were accepted, the Journal Inquirer reports.

“But rather than turn that information over to prosecutors, state officials are giving the gun owners a chance to get rid of the weapons and magazines,” the report adds.

So gun owners who actually tried to register their guns and magazines, intentionally late or not, are now on the state’s radar for owning guns that became illegal overnight. Owning an unregistered semi-automatic rifle or high-capacity magazine that was legal prior to Jan. 3 is now a class D felony under the new law.
