Firearm Registration Bill Introduced in Illinois

Fri, 02/07/2014 - 12:15

Illinois State Rep. Kelly M. Cassidy (D-14) introduced a bill on Feb. 5 that would require gun owners to register every gun they own. According to the bill, called the Firearms Registration Act (HB4715), this would not just apply to new purchases but Illinoisans would also need to register guns they already own.

The bill’s synopsis explains [emphasis added]:

“Creates the Firearms Registration Act. Provides that every person in the State must register each firearm he or she owns or possesses in accordance with the Act.”

The bill also takes aim at ammunition ownership and purchases. Illinois residents would have to show proof of firearm registration in order to buy

School Officials Object to Image of a Gun Depicted on… Signs Banning Guns

Some officials in Illinois are apparently not pleased that stickers being posted at schools around the state feature an image of a firearm — even though the gun also has a red slash through it.

Under concealed carry laws recently passed in Illinois, schools, churches, government agencies and liquor stores are required to post 4-by-6 inch stickers informing gun owners they can’t carry a firearm on the property. These are considered “gun-free zones.”

It Took All of 50 Seconds for Ted Nugent to Go Off in This Radio Interview

It took less than a minute for rock star and gun enthusiast Ted Nugent to launch into a harsh anti-media tirade during an interview Monday with Denver radio talk host Peter Boyles.

The “media in this country is basically Joseph Goebbels’ propaganda ministry,” Nugent said.

He continued, debuting his “New American National Anthem,” which consisted of him bleating like a sheep.

“It breaks my heart to have to say these things,” Nugent said. “But we have to say these things. Because if you don’t get rid of the bad and the ugly, the good will continue to be strangled.”

Hey Indianapolis, Your Pizza Guy May Be Carrying More Than Just a Large Pepperoni

Mon, 02/03/2014 - 08:11

If you order a pizza in Indianapolis, your driver might be packing more heat than a steamy pizza.

After two pizza delivery drivers were killed in just two weeks, some drivers have decided to arm themselves while they work their routes, WISH-TV reported.

Bill Bruton is one of those drivers. He spent Super Bowl Sunday delivering pizzas all over Indianapolis for Aunt Polly’s Pizza. And he carried his gun, WISH reported.

“I’ve got a lifetime permit and I carry,” Bruton said.

The manager at Aunt Polly’s said their drivers have carried for years: “As long as they have gun permits,” Jeff White, store manager, said.

TheBlaze TV’s Dana Loesch Will Guest-Host ABC’s ‘The View’ – and the Anti-Gun Crowd Is Already Trying to Shut Her Down

Sat, 02/01/2014 - 21:37

TheBlaze TV’s Dana Loesch will be guest hosting ABC’s “The View” on Monday — that is, if the anti-gun group Moms Demand Action doesn’t get its way. Additionally, the far-left Media Matters has also come out of the woodwork to pressure on ABC on its “troubling” decision to give Loesch a national platform (which she already has at TheBlaze).

Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action, launched her own Twitter campaign on Saturday in protest of Loesch’s upcoming gig on “The View.”

In addition to re-tweeting messaging calling Loesch a “pro-gun extremist,” “hate monger,” and “gun bully,” Watts also repeatedly messaged the official Twitter account of “The View” to express her disappointment in the show for giving someone a platform who she happens to disagree with.

Watts also claimed that Loesch is a paid “shill” of firearms manufacturer Magpul. The only problem with the claim is that it’s not true.

We asked Loesch about the allegation and she couldn’t help but laugh, saying “those checks much be getting lost in the mail.” The conservative personality did attend the “Farewell to Arms” rally held by Magpul back i

They Saw Three Teens Trying to Break Into Their Neighbor’s House — Then They Armed Themselves and Confronted the Crooks

Sat, 02/01/2014 - 20:05

When residents of an Alabama town spotted three teens trying to break into a neighbors house in the middle of the day, they of course contacted police…but they didn’t just kick back and watch the action play out, either.

They armed themselves and confronted them.

With that, all three teens ran from the house on Mountain Laurel Drive in Pinson, but the neighbors chased them into nearby woods, according to AL.com. They managed to hold one, a 17-year-old, at gunpoint. Two others fled on foot but were captured more than a mile away on Highway 75.

TheBlaze Fact-Checks ABC: Did Diane Sawyer Use Misleading Stats in ’20/20’ Report on Children and Guns?

Fri, 01/31/2014 - 22:34

ABC’s “20/20” waded into the never-ending gun debate on Friday with a new special titled, “Young Guns.” While some pro-gun advocates, including TheBlaze TV’s Dana Loesch, are already panning the report, TheBlaze also took a closer look at the statistics cited by ABC and found a few noteworthy details.

In the report, ABC producers strategically place unloaded firearms in play areas and allow children to find them so their behavior can be observed. The objective of the experiment is seemingly to determine if parents’ children are safe at the homes of neighbors who own firearms.

While previewing her new special on Friday, Sawyer and ABC’s George Stephanopoulos claimed that “every hour a child is hospitalized because of gunshots” and “every other day a child [is] killed” by a gun.

An armed man entered a Greenville, S.C., restaurant at around 10 p.m. Thursday night with hopes of leaving the place a much wealthier man. Strange how things don’t always go according to plan.

Instead, 22-year-old Calvin Jequan Benson left the Wings on the Run restaurant with two gunshot wounds and in need of medical attention.

Greenville County deputies say Benson’s robbery attempt was thwarted after a store employee drew his own handgun and shot the suspect twice with a pair of accurate shots, WHNS-TV reports.

‘2016’ Filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza vs. Ex-Domestic Terrorist Bill Ayers in Contentious Debate – Watch the Highlights

Thu, 01/30/2014 - 20:34

Conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza and the former leader of the far-left domestic terrorist group Weather Underground, Bill Ayers, battled in a contentious debate held at Dartmouth University on Thursday night.

Billed as the “ultimate fight between left and right,” the pair clashed on a variety of topics including, libertarianism, Israel, the Second Amendment and Ayers’ radical past. We’ve compiled a list of highlights from the debate below:

D’Souza questions Ayers about his radical past

D’Souza drew some laughs when he told Ayers that he began his activist career in “bin Laden mode.”

“You tried to bomb the Pentagon, you tried to bomb the U.S. Capitol,” D’Souza said. “You sounded totally different today. You talked about teaching, you talked about being an educator, you talked about Socratic doubt and wonder. So my question is: What happened to that old revolutionary?”

Without directly acknowledging his role in the domestic terror plots, Ayers said he still considers himself a “revolutionary” in his th

Bad News for Gun Rights Advocates in Connecticut

Thu, 01/30/2014 - 19:14

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A federal judge upheld Connecticut’s gun control law on Thursday, saying the sweeping measure is constitutional even as he acknowledged the Second Amendment rights of gun owners who sued to block it.

The law, which Gov. Dannel P. Malloy signed last April after months of negotiations in the legislature, was not entirely written “with the utmost clarity,” U.S. District Judge Alfred Covello said in his 47-page decision. Still, several provisions are “not impermissibly vague in all of their applications and, therefore, the challenged portions of the legislation are not unconstitutionally vague.”

Lawmakers, responding to the shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School that killed 20 children and six educators on Dec. 14, 2012, banned the sale of large-capacity magazines and made more weapons illegal under the state’s assault weapons ban.
