The Truth About Guns

Hands-On: Dan Wesson DWX
It was fall of 2019 when Dan Wesson first announced and showed off the DWX pistol, which was slated to hit dealers the following summer. As a huge fan of both the CZ 75 platform (in particular the competition-oriented models) and the 1911 platform (with a sweet spot for Dan Wessons), I was truly excited to get my hands on Dan Wesson’s and CZ-USA’s marriage of those two things in the DWX.

Illinois Gun Ban and Registration Impacts Almost All Gun Owners While Governor Flouts the Rule of Law
As you read earlier, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker rushed to sign a new gun ban into law within hours of its passage by the General Assembly. Pritzker proudly praised the legislators who ignored the rule of law to pass the measure that blocks sales and ownership of the most popular guns for self-defense. He also took a victory lap around what he said were the “powerful forces of the pro-gun lobby.”
Why the rush?

34 Illinois Sheriffs (So Far) To Gov. J.B. Pritzker Over ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban: Go Pound Sand
More and more Illinois sheriffs have a message for Governor J. B. Pritzker: Go pound sand. Less than 48 hours after the big guy signed House Bill 5471 into law, 33 34 sheriffs have made it clear they aren’t going to enforce the new gun and magazine ban. Or gun registration.
It started with a joint statement from Perry County where the sheriff and state’s attorney published an open later announcing their intention to ignore the new gun ban.
Obscure Object of Desire: Hoban No. 45 Boy’s Rifle
In my home, there are certain non-negotiables with my kids when it comes to things they have to learn. I see raising kids as something akin to predeployment training. It lasts 18 years, and I send them out into the world. One of those non-negotiables is learning how to safely handle a gun. This often gives me an excuse to buy guns, and that’s exactly how I stumbled onto the Hoban No. 45 Boy’s Rifle.

You’ll Never Guess Who Has Realized That Gun Manufacturers are a Net Positive For Their Communities
A recent column in The Atlantic on the decline and despair of New Haven, Conn., caught my attention. It’s an area that many of those associated with the firearm industry are at least aware of. For me, it’s a little closer to home. It’s where my family’s roots run deep – both in the city and in the firearm industry.
The author, Nicholas Dawidoff, lamented the decline of the city and pined for the days when Winchester Repeating Arms Company had a solid presence there.

Houston DA Will Present Case of Taqueria Customer’s Defensive Shooting to a Grand Jury
The defensive gun use that was caught on security video when a Houston taqueria customer shot an armed robber last week has caused more than a little discussion about how justifiable all of the shots the restaurant customer directed at the crook were and what the armed defender’s fate might be. The thief, 30-year-old Eric Eugene Washington, was killed in the shooting.
Apparently not wanting to make the call herself by either charging or clearing the armed customer, Houston District Attorney Kim Ogg has decided to put the as yet unnamed man’s fate in the hands of a grand jury.
In Its Bump Stock Ruling, the Fifth Circuit Declared Separation of Powers is Still a Thing
An appeals court ruling that struck down the Trump-era rule banning bump stocks could have a much wider-reaching impact than just the plastic accessory.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit overwhelmingly ruled that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) overstepped its authority when it published a final rule that reclassified bump stocks as “machineguns.” The Trump-era ban was in reaction to the heinous crimes by a depraved murderer in Las Vegas in 2017.
St. Louis Now Citing Crime Victims After Guns are Stolen in Car Break-Ins
The city of St. Louis has a long and proud tradition behind it. But present day, under a Soros-funded prosecutor and radical leftist mayor, crime has skyrocketed. Per capita, St. Louis is America’s most dangerous city. And now, gun owners who fall victim to car break-ins are being cited by the city for not having a safe inside their car to store their personal defense gun.
St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones says of citing crime victims with local ordinance violations: “I think it’s great.”
We all know that keeping your gun on your person remains the safest place for it.
