27 Dead in China Knife Attack

Sat, 03/01/2014 - 18:10

This is a pretty sad story for a lot of reasons – AP is reporting that at least 27 people are dead, and over 100 injured after a group of men wielding knives attacked a train station in southwestern China. The idiots pushing gun control would have you believe that banning guns would stop mass murders, but common sense, along with tragedies like today’s knife attack in China, prove that you cannot ban evil.

BEIJING (AP) — A group of knife-wielding men attacked a train station in southwestern China on Saturday, leaving at least 27 people dead and another 109 injured, the official Xinhua News Agency said, making it one of the deadliest attacks in China in recent years.

Xinhua did not provide more details about the evening attack at the Kunming Railway Station in Yunnan province, or identify the attackers. Kunming city police said they did not have any immediate information to release about the attack.

How was the attack stopped? Police shot five of the attackers and at the time of writing are searching for the other five. I think it goes without saying that it’s sad these people didn&#8

Steve Sweeney Logic

Presented without comment.

Just kidding…this guy can’t be serious, can he? New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney tweeted this logic disaster yesterday, and judging by his subsequent tweets, he wasn’t high or drunk at the time, he actually believes it. Good grief New Jersey, how did this guy get elected?

Connecticut Door to Door Confiscation

Fri, 02/28/2014 - 11:46

By now you’ve probably heard the claims that confiscation has begun or is about to begin in Connecticut, so today, let’s discuss the situation in a brief timeline of events, and examine what we do and do not know at this point.

Post-Sandy Hook Gun Control Legislation

In April of 2013, CT lawmakers announced a deal on a gun control package that included, among other things, limiting magazine capacity to 10 rounds and registration of weapons and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

Registration

After the above legislation passed, magazines holding more than 10 rounds were considered “Large Capacity Magazines” and were prohibited in the state. Magazines that hold more than 10 rounds along with banned firearms possessed prior to April 4, 2013 were grandfathered, provided they were registered with Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) by January 1, 2014.

Hardcore Hardware MFK03-G

Thu, 02/27/2014 - 11:11

I’ve had a relationship with Hardcore Hardware and their products for a while now; to date I’ve tested four of them including the topic of this review, the HHA MFK03-G.  Despite their habit of giving knives letter/number combination titles, HHA produces some of the finest hard use cutting devices I’ve ever had the pleasure of putting to the test.

When I received the MFK03-G in the mail, I expected much as all the previous tools from them have exceeded my expectations.  I say tools because that is exactly what they are.  With a knife, the design should make its uses and benefits obvious to the user; no frivolous features or cosmetic attachments that enhance the aesthetics simply for the sake of appearance.

A fixed blade knife especially should make its purpose known simply by how it is forged and how it handles.  The MFK03-G handles as intended; its D2 steel full tan

Facebook/Instagram In Talks to Ban Guns

Tue, 02/25/2014 - 15:03

Forbes recently reported that Facebook and Instagram (remember that Instagram is owned by Facebook) are in talks with two of the most heinous anti-liberty groups in America – Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense and Mayors Against Illegal Guns – to “put pressure on Facebook to prohibit the private selling or trading of guns on its platforms, a practice that’s as widespread as it is unregulated.”

Two of the country’s most influential gun control groups are in talks with Facebook’s legal team in an effort to see gun sales banned on the world’s largest social network and its sister site Instagram.

Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America has partnered with Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns to put pressure on Facebook to prohibit the private selling or trading of guns on its platforms — a practice that’s as widespread as it is unregulated.

“Facebook and Instagram are enabling people to sell weapons, often with no questions asked and no background checks required,” said

Ares Armor Threatened

Mon, 02/24/2014 - 13:54

Ares Armor is a veteran owned small business located in California that sells firearms components and other tactical products – and they need your help. Ares Armor is under attack from the anti-gun fascists on the City Council at their National City, CA location.

In a nutshell, here’s what appears to be going on. Ares Armor has a sign up outside of their National City location advertising their 80% lowers, which can be used to build your own “unregistered” AR-15. Here’s the sign:

You’ll notice that there’s an ultra scary AR-15 pictured on the sign along with the Ares Armor name – therein lies the rub with the City Council. Here’s a partial timeline of events as recorded on the

Knee-Jerk Reactions

Mon, 02/24/2014 - 09:32

In the latest NRA News video, Dom Raso from Dynamis Alliance talks about the overzealous media and their tendency to react to tragedy rather than report the story.

The media is salivating, just waiting for the next tragic story to come in so they can post it all over their network before anyone else beats them to the punch.

Yep. Check out the video below. If you watch mainstream news from either side of the aisle, you might want to rethink that decision. It’s largely a waste of time in my opinion.

Smart Guns Are Here

Fri, 02/21/2014 - 11:15

Smart guns have hit the shelves in California, and as many have pointed out, they are in fact anything but “smart.”

First, let’s make sure we’re all on the same page. What constitutes a smart gun? If you’re thinking Skyfall, then you’re on the right track. Simply put, a smart gun is one that won’t fire without first electronically verifying the owner. The means of electronic verification vary with design, but the concept remains the same.

Detroit Home Invasion

Wed, 02/19/2014 - 10:29

There’s a news story making the rounds that shows a Detroit home invasion caught on surveillance video, and I think it’s worth sharing.

(WXYZ) – A Detroit mother opened fire Monday night when three suspects broke into her home.

Surveillance cameras caught it all.

The mother tells Action News she “didn’t have time to get scared.” When she heard the door to her home on Woodrow Wilson being kicked in, she immediately warned the three teenage intruders and then opened fire.

One of the teens dropped a handgun on his way out the door. He then tried to get back inside the house a second time, but was again met with gunfire. Once again, he took off and all three were arrested shortly after the incident by Detroit Police.

I think this story is interesting for a couple reasons. First, the mom defended her home with what looks like a Hi-Point Carbine like this one.

Payton’s Project

Mon, 02/17/2014 - 10:25

There have been a few times since we’ve started 2 Vets Arms that I’ve honestly felt led to act, and use the reach and capabilities of 2VA to make a difference; this is one of those times.

Through our Crossfit Muskogee family, we were recently made aware of a 5 year old girl in our community named Payton who is being treated for recurring spinal cancer, and of a Crossfit fundraiser that is being held to help with her medical bills. Thinking of what the parents must be going through due to the fact we have a soon to be 5 year old son of our own, Amber and I have decided to put together a fundraiser of our own to work in conjunction with the Crossfit fundraiser.

God has blessed us over the last 3 years in the growth of 2VA, the opportunities we have had as well as the people we have met along the way. I truly believe God has placed Payton on our hearts and we must do what we can with the blessings we’ve received along the way.

So what does this mean you ask? Well let me tell you what the plan is.

We have a

“Shall Issue” Concealed Carry Coming to California?

Thu, 02/13/2014 - 13:37

Earlier today, the Ninth Circuit released its decision in Peruta v. San Diego, affirming the right of California citizens to carry handguns for lawful protection outside of the home.

Historically, California has been what is commonly referred to as a “may issue” state, in that citizens had to show “good cause” in order to be issued a concealed carry permit. The problem with this system is of course that most citizens couldn’t show “good cause” in the eyes of the court. The decision today will hopefully pave the way for California to join the ranks of “shall issue” states.

California law has a process for applying for a permit to carry a handgun for protection in public, with requirements for safety training, a background check, and so on. These requirements were not challenged. The statute also requires that the applicant have “good cause,” which was interpreted by San Diego County to mean that the applicant is faced with current specific t

The Conspiracy Behind Government Ammunition Purchases

Thu, 02/13/2014 - 09:57

Like anyone, I love a good conspiracy, especially when it suggests something along the lines of dark government forces working at some level to destroy our liberty (or at least blaming them for Alar in apples). Of late, one can’t seem to log on to Facebook or any gun forum without seeing predictions of our impending doom because some government branch has posted a contract bid for ammunition – the latest being the Department of Homeland Security’s bid for 141,000 rounds of “sniper” ammo.

Granted, if I knew nothing about firearms, ammunition or the industry, I’d probably think the sky was falling too. Problem is that I do know a little something about the industry, so I’m less than impressed with the presentation. Let me brea
