Adventures in the Gun Control Multiverse

Mon, 06/26/2023 - 12:38
Gun control legislators often appear to inhabit an alternative universe, one with its own laws of time, science, logic, and common sense. Take, for example, the dogged and delusional adherence to the “science” of firearm microstamping.

Fabulist in Chief Biden Lies to Anti-Gun Crowd

Mon, 06/26/2023 - 12:31
When it comes to Joe Biden’s rambling, anti-gun speeches, sometimes he seems just confused, and sometimes he mistakenly reveals his true agenda of eradicating the Second Amendment and stripping virtually every law-abiding American of their right to arms and self-defense.

Hunter Biden Plea Deal Exemplifies America’s Gun Control Regime

Mon, 06/26/2023 - 12:24
Just in case anyone needed further evidence that gun control laws are about exercising political control and suppressing constitutional rights, rather than protecting the public from criminals, Joe Biden’s Department of Justice has provided them with unmistakable proof. On June 20, the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Delaware submitted paperwork outlining a plea deal for the president’s son, Hunter Biden. Under the terms of the agreement, Hunter would avoid a conviction for possessing a firearm while being an “unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance” if he completes a pretrial diversion program.

Stop the Presses! NRA and CNN Agree: Joe Biden Lies on Guns

Mon, 06/26/2023 - 12:06
It’s not often that NRA finds itself in agreement with CNN’s reporting about firearms, but the outlet’s fact-check of Joe Biden’s Connecticut gun control speech last week proved the cable news channel is capable of accurately reporting on guns … when it wants to. The piece noted that Biden “made at least five false claims related to guns, a subject on which he has repeatedly been inaccurate during his presidency.” While we might quibble that CNN actually undercounted the number of false claims related to guns Biden made in that address, their reporting was right on the money in the examples they did cite.

Maine: LD 1000 Defeated, Safeguarding Maine's Shooting Range Protection Laws

Wed, 06/07/2023 - 08:46
Today, the Maine Senate officially killed Legislative Document 1000, which would have established a firearm range safety group within the Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife. This legislation would have been the first step in undermining Maine’s strong range protection laws. Thanks to the strong response of NRA members and Second Amendment supporters, the bill was defeated. NRA-ILA would like to thank all lawmakers who defended the Second Amendment for law-abiding citizens in the Pine Tree State.

Connecticut: Gov. Lamont Signs Major Gun Control Bill

Wed, 06/07/2023 - 08:42
On Tuesday, anti-gun Gov. Ned Lamont inked his signature on more Second Amendment restrictions in Connecticut.  The Governor signed H.6667 which contained several firearm restrictions, including a ban on open carry and the adoption of gun rationing, limiting a person to 3 pistols per month.  The bill also bans and requires registration of Connecticut "others" and '94 prebans.  The Legislature didn't stop there.  This terrible bill also has restrictive mandatory storage provisions, additional FFL regulations and body armor purchase restrictions.
