Loaded Glock in a Microwave (Video)

Tue, 03/22/2016 - 18:02

This is another one from Demolition Ranch. And why not?

This time, they put a loaded Glock pistol into a microwave and start zapping it.

The pistol is pointing towards the magnetron in hopes that the gun will fire into the microwave, thus killing the very source of the heat that cooks off the round. If it gets hot enough to fire, that is, and if the frame remains unmelted for that long.

Spoiler alert: The pistol frame eventually catches fire, and it does so early in the process.

Will it melt and fall over? Probably.

Will it fire? You’ll have to watch to find out.

But yeah.

What do you think? Interesting, stupid, both, or neither?

Truck & Trailer Loading Fail (Video)

Sat, 02/27/2016 - 15:12

I ask you: How hard can it be to drive a tire-laden truck onto a trailer?

The answer? Pretty dang tough.

Well, it can be when you leave the towing truck in neutral.

This short video is packed with failure. Maybe I should feel bad about it, but instead I laughed out loud. Sorry guys.

Actually, I think they lucked out in regards to the busy road. This could have been much worse, and it doesn’t look like anyone got hurt.

Turn down your sound before you start playing the video, and when you get tired of waiting for something to happen, skip ahead to about 0:38.

Enjoy!

Bomber Slugs? Shooting Bomb-Shaped 12 Gauge Shotgun Slugs (Video)

Mon, 02/22/2016 - 12:42

This is another video from that TAOFLEDERMAUS character. I’m not sure I’ll share another because the experimentation isn’t all that thrilling, but I like the shape of these slugs. As mentioned in the video, they remind me of the old cap bomb that I loved to play with as a kid.

The last video of his that I shared was back in November when he shot some pointed aluminum boattail slugs with various types of rifling cut into them.

Anyhow, these bomb slugs seemed to fly fairly true, and one of them was even shot twice. Nifty!

The Ruger American Pistol at the 2016 SHOT Show

Wed, 01/20/2016 - 11:36

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. Announced their new Ruger American pistol right before the 2016 SHOT Show.

The polymer striker-fired gun supplements the company’s earlier SR series of plastic pistols.

I was able to fire a few rounds through an example at the 2016 SHOT Show Industry Range Day. While this was not nearly enough to do more than get a feel for the pistol, I did find it to be an interesting design and look forward to trying one out more thoroughly soon.

In this video a Ruger rep goes over the features of the Ruger American Pistol.
