Research: Watching a 1-Minute Safety Makes Pre-Teens More Careful Around Firearms
By Brad Bushman and Sophie Kjaervik, The Ohio State University
Children who watched a 1-minute-long gun safety video were more cautious when they found a real handgun hidden in a drawer in our lab compared to children who watched a car safety video, according to our randomized clinical trial published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics. We observed this difference even though children saw the gun safety video a week earlier at home and even after they had watched scenes from a violent movie in our lab.
Second Amendment Law Center Mobilizes Challenges to Hawaii’s Unconstitutional Gun Control Laws
By C.D. “Chuck” Michel
Last Friday, the Second Amendment Law Center, joined by several prominent pro 2A groups including Gun Owners of America, the Hawaii Rifle Association, California Rifle & Pistol Association, Gun Owners of California, and Gun Owners Foundation filed an amicus (friend of the court) brief in US District Court in Hawaii in the case of Wolford v. Lopez. That case challenges Hawaii’s newly signed SB 1230. The new law makes a license to carry a firearm invalid almost everywhere.
Gun Review: Winchester 1300 Deer Slug Shotgun
Here at the Truth About Guns, we often review the latest and greatest in firearms. Typically older guns fall into the Obscure Object of Desire category. What about guns that are old but still common, cheap, and out there readily available?
We’re talking about guns like the Winchester 1300 series shotguns. It’s been out of production since 2006, but Winchester made so many of them that they’re still commonly available and affordable. I picked up this nearly mint condition model for a mere $250.

True Velocity Now Selling Commercial 5.56×45 Ammunition
True Velocity makes lightweight composite-cased rifle ammunition. They competed for the Army’s next generation squad weapon 6.8mm ammo contract, but lost out to SIG SAUER last year.

Ware, Mass Police Raise the Alarm on HD 4420, a ‘Travesty’ of a Gun Control Bill
The Ware Police Department would like to bring an important matter to your attention: the proposed anti-gun Bill currently under consideration (HD 4420, An Act Modernizing Firearms Laws). We understand that this state-level legislation has raised concerns among law-abiding citizens who value their Second Amendment rights.
We recognize that the right to bear arms is a fundamental aspect of our nation’s history and an essential component of personal and collective security. As members of the police force, we are committed to upholding the law and defending the rights of our community members.
Obscure Object of Desire: Seecamp LWS 25 Restricted Edition Pistol
I’ve been having a tough time with audience approval of my choices for obscure objects of desire. Either they’re not desirable at all, or they’re not obscure enough for a lot of you. Maybe this time, I’ll get it right.
I’ve got a rather unique and pretty damn cool pistol here. Today we’re looking at the Seecamp LWS-25, which is obscure to a point. What makes it even more so are the words ‘Restricted Edition’ stamped on the side.
Lott: Banning Guns is a Sure Way to Increase Homicide Rates
Banning guns might reduce firearm suicides and cases of self-defense, but it won’t reduce firearm murders. Indeed, a ban on guns, even a handgun ban like the ones we’ve seen in Washington and Chicago, inevitably makes things much worse. After every gun ban, murder rates have gone up.
One would think that just once, out of simple randomness, murder rates would have gone down or remained the same after a ban.

San Francisco Business Owner Patrols the Streets With a Fake Gun to Fight Crime [VIDEO]
This is what happens to a disarmed populace. San Francisco is quickly becoming the new Detroit. Speeding it along on that path to glory is a city council with politics to the left of Venzuela’s, an overwhelmed, under-manned (by design) police force, and a revolving door criminal justice system.
But over 800,000 people live in the city and many of them are sick of stepping in feces, wading through junkies, and finding their car windows smashed and their valuables gone.
OFF: Oregon 114 Violates the Second Amendment and a Basic Understanding of the English Language
…Judge Karin Immergut ruled against gun owners, the Second Amendment and a basic understanding of the English language and ruled that Ballot Measure 114 is just fine.
The decision is 122 pages and we just received it so we have not had time to analyze it in depth. What we have read defies belief. While not entirely unexpected, Immergut’s ruling is simple nonsense and sure to be overturned at the 9th circuit.

Animal Rights Idiocy Redux: Nonhuman Rights Project Now Taking Aim at Colorado Elephants
The Nonhuman Rights Project (NhRP) can’t take a hint, let alone a strongly-worded legal decision stating their ongoing efforts to gain “personhood” rights for elephants is absurd. It’s said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
That would apply here, yet again, to NhRP’s latest attempt at legal gymnastics. During their most recent failed attempt at having a court deem Happy the Elephant, in the care of the Bronx Zoo, a person with rights, the judges were irritated at NhRP’s claims.

NSSF Sues to Block Hawaii’s ‘Nuisance’ Law Targeting Gun Makers and Sellers
One of the increasingly popular strategies used by anti-gun states to try to get around the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act is to claim that firearms themselves and even their advertising present a unique public nuisance that threatens the state of law, order and peaceful coexistence that would surely exist without them.
The PLCAA protects firearm manufacturers and retailers against lawsuits if their products are used by criminals to do what criminals do.
Why Aren’t the Killers in City Hall Ever Arrested, Charged, and Prosecuted?
By Rob Morse
Suppose a criminal commits a crime a gun. Go a step further and suppose he does something truly awful and shoots several people in the process. If you’re an anti-gun politician, the obvious conclusion is it’s now time to disarm your gun-owning neighbors.
Do elected anti-gun zealots care that implementing their bigoted disarmament fantasies not only infringe on human rights, but also leave us with even more dead victims?

Any time the media’s favorite former “gun guy”-turned-gun control advocate gets invited to speak about gun control, hold on. It’s going to be a wild ride.
Ryan Busse, Senior Advisor for Giffords gun control group, was invited to MSNBC’s “Reidout” to speak with host Joy Reid as she bemoaned that she was allegedly afraid to leave her home on Independence Day for celebrations because “America’s awash in guns” and is insane.
