Video: King Salmon Jumps into Boat, Causing Chaos

Thu, 08/18/2016 - 13:23

Chinook salmon are a prized and sought-after catch for a sporting angler. The flesh of a salmon is also highly valued for its dietary nutritional content. The Chinook – also often referred to as king salmon, Quinnat salmon, spring salmon, and tyee salmon – is native to the North Pacific Ocean and the river systems of western North America, ranging from California to Alaska. In this clip taken on the Kenai River in the southern part of Alaska, this particular Chinook salmon was all too excited to get in the boat and become dinner. The clip starts out looking like an ordinary...

Wed, 08/17/2016 - 13:00

Deer always seem to sneak up on us when we least expect it. Have you ever been nodding off and looked over to see a deer standing there as if it appeared out of nowhere? Your heart jumps up into your throat a little bit, am I right? In this clip, the roles are reversed, and the hunter sneaks up on a deer to give it a little wake-up call it won't soon forget. At first, it’s hard to tell what the hunter is doing crawling around in the tall grass on his hands and knees, but watch closely as he approaches the sleeping muley buck. The hunter gives it a little nudge on the antlers and the...

Angler Hooks Bass, Muskie Eats Bass, Angler Catches Muskie!

Wed, 08/17/2016 - 09:38

Ask any fishing guide, and he or she will tell you that no 2 days on the water are exactly alike. And no matter how many times you fish, you can still be surprised by something new. Case in point: Longtime FLW Tour bass tournament angler Jim Moynagh (left in photo above) from Minnesota was guiding on some local waters near Minneapolis when one of his clients had a strike. “We were fishing for largemouths on the deep weedline with plastic worms fished on 10-pound-test Gamma fluorocarbon and spinning gear,” Jim wrote on a recent...

Video: Guy Shoots Recurve at Lightning-Fast Speed

Tue, 08/16/2016 - 15:37

When you think of fast-shooting hunting tools or weapons, what are some that come to mind? Recurve bow wasn’t one of them, was it? Well, this archer is out to prove you wrong. You thought Steph Curry has a fast release, wait until you see this guy. Watch as this archer flings a fist full of arrows faster than his opponent can get off half as many shots. It appears to be a race to see who can shoot all 12 arrows first, and in all fairness, the man in the white shirt tried to give the other a head start. In this video shared by...

Video: Two Grouse, One Arrow, One Shot

Tue, 08/16/2016 - 15:09

Killing two birds with one stone is how the saying goes, but the grouse hunter in this video put his own spin on it but using one arrow, and oh yeah, he needed only one shot as well. Shooting two birds with one shot from a shotgun is an impressive feat; doing so with a bow and arrow is unthinkable. Check it out! ...

New Washington State Record Largemouth Bass

Fri, 08/12/2016 - 10:46

This is just a good old fashion bass story that, as a fisherman, you can appreciate wholeheartedly. It’s the story of an experienced gentleman, who just like all of us, enjoys trolling around the lake, getting a line wet, and catching fish. He’s just like any ordinary older guy. Note, however, that this story has no ordinary ending. Bill Evans, and his wife, Vickie, moved from their hometown of Portsmith, Ohio, about 4 years ago. They made their home in the town of Bothell, Washington, to be closer to their grandchildren. Bill is a longtime bass angler, highly regarded and well...

Video: Hanging Out on the Beach with Black Bears?

Fri, 08/12/2016 - 10:15

People flock to beaches during summer for relief from the heat, but you don’t expect to share the sand with a family of black bears. Check out this amazing video showing a sow and two cubs as they cool off on California’s Pope Beach on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. Thankfully, most of the swimmers and paddlers gave the bears plenty of room. There are few things in the wild more dangerous than a sow with cubs, so it’s wise to avoid them.

Bear attacks on humans aren’t common, and when they do occur it’s often because people surprised the bears in heavy cover during a hike,

Video: Bizarre Dance Party on Dead Whales

Thu, 08/11/2016 - 13:32

Here’s something to get you through your day: videos of a guy dancing on dead whales. Yes, you read that correctly. The first video starts with a man doing the worm (my personal favorite) along the under belly of a huge humpback whale. Then, one of his whaler buddies joins the dance party and they bust-a-move in what is sure to be the weirdest video you'll see today. This dance party doesn’t stop there, however. The whale dancer returns and is seen again, cutting it up on another huge humpback whale. So many questions come to mind, such as what possesses you to think it’s a...

The Republican Side of Hollywood

Thu, 08/11/2016 - 10:44

In our modern society, a lot of people look to celebrities for inspiration. With the upcoming election, influence from the rich and famous can have a greater reach than ever, making celeb voices of particular interest. Although California has more Democratic voters, there is still plenty of Republican voice to be heard in Hollywood. At this year’s Republican National Convention, some familiar faces took the stage. Once known as Charles in Charge, Scott Baio spoke at the RNC of his desire to see...

Thu, 08/11/2016 - 09:48

It was bound to happen: The hub-style pop-up technology, so prevalent among portable hunting blinds and ice fishing shelters because of the speed and ease it lends to set-up and take-down, has finally entered the camping arena. It comes in the form of Ardisam’s Gazelle Camping Hub Tent and a pair of Gazebos. The hub tent is a four-person unit with 61 square feet of floor space that can be erected in roughly 90 seconds. Gazebo options include a pentagon-shaped...

Tue, 08/09/2016 - 16:32

Over the weekend, the U.S. men’s archery team – Brady Ellison, Jake Kaminski and Zach Garrett – took home a silver medal after losing to South Korea in the finals. It was one of those strange times, however, when people on Twitter were all picking up on the same thing at once, and that is that archer Brady Ellison has a striking resemblance to actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Amazing Video: Man Uses Flyboard to Douse Boat Fire

Fri, 08/05/2016 - 12:28

To a boat captain, there’s nothing more dreadfully fearful than even the hint of an onboard fire. But if it weren’t for a pleasure craft on Cross Lake, Minnesota, that began to smolder recently, we would never have seen one of the most unique fire-suppression methods ever devised. When Paul Gavic spotted the troubled boat from his dock, he called to his sons Jesse and Caleb to lend assistance. Together the three men own Skyhigh Flyboards, which sells the recreational products. A flyboard uses the power of a personal watercraft to direct a water stream that can propel the user up to 50...

Video: Skydiver Jumps from 25k Feet without Parachute

Fri, 08/05/2016 - 08:13

Each year there are about three million skydiving jumps made in the United States. A lot of those people, as they step out of the plane, are probably hoping with all their might for a smooth trip with a parachute that opens like it should. Luke Aikins, on the other hand, forgoes the chute all together.

In California’s Simi Valley, Aikins recently made a jump that has been deemed a world first. In that jump, he plunged towards the Earth from a height of 25,000 feet. Initially others were on the same course alongside him, but they eventually pulled their chutes for a slower...

Video: T. Rex Was a Heck of a Fly Fisher

Thu, 08/04/2016 - 14:39

Tyrannosaurus rex may have been one of the apex predators of the late Cretaceous period, but we now know that the ancient carnivore was also one heck of a fly fisher—despite its rudimentary forelegs. This specimen was caught on video, posted on the Fly Lords Facebook page, catching a sizable channel catfish on the long wand. But though the fish appears to weigh only around 10 pound, it took the killer dinosaur to its knees.

This is most likely due to the big animal’s underdeveloped upper body. In fact, we’re guessing that T. Rex could successfully wield only fly rods of...

Video: Teenager Makes Friends With Deer Family

Thu, 08/04/2016 - 10:56

Take a minute to think about all the extremes you go to preparing for your hunts. Alarm goes off at 4 a.m., jump in the shower to wash off your human scent, next, put on multiple layers of scent and moisture wicking clothing to prevent bringing any unfamiliar smells with you in the woods. Finally, just before walking to your treestand, spray yourself down with scent destroying spray to rid any foreign scents you may have picked up along your way to your favorite hunting spot.

My son money got a whole family I didnt even know 😂 ...
