CCTV of armed robber calmly holding up Philadelphia market (VIDEO)

Thu, 04/17/2014 - 10:39

An armed robber held up a clerk at a Philadelphia market Saturday morning and made off with a handful of cash.

The unidentified suspect calmly walked into Kim’s Market around 8:30 a.m. and acted like he was buying a soda. He waited until the clerk opened the register before drawing a pistol from his waistband and squeezing through the protective Plexiglas barrier. The suspect grabbed a handful of cash, re-holstered his weapon, and then casually walked away, CBS reports.

No shots were fired during the robbery. The suspect fled from the store and is still at large. Philadelphia police have asked anyone with information about the suspect contact the Southwest Detective Division at 215-686-3183, or anonymously at 215-686-TIPS.

Dutch TV reporter opens fire on public urinators with water cannon (VIDEO)

Thu, 04/17/2014 - 10:22

Dutch TV reporter Daan Nieber, 33, used a high-pressure water cannon to thwart public urination.

Many of the public restrooms in the Netherlands charge a fee to use their services, so public urination runs rampant. But Nieber decided to take the law into his own hands and set out to scare the piss out of anyone he caught urinating in public.

Nieber’s water cannon bares the “Ghost Busters” logo and slightly resembles the fictitious apparatus. And the pressure coming out at the nozzle seems to be pretty substantial. Public urinators beware.

5 strategic blunders Moms, Mayors made in their $50 million NRA challenge (VIDEO)

Thu, 04/17/2014 - 05:00

With news breaking late Tuesday night that Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America would become one group known as ‘Everytown for Gun Safety’ and that it’s vocal leader, billionaire business magnate Michael Bloomberg, would be dumping $50 million into its two-front campaign designed to (a) take on the political clout of the National Rifle Association and (b) urge Congress to enact a federal law to expand background checks to cover private gun sales, I couldn’t help but to notice five glaring strategic blunders in this well-funded, gun control operation:

And frankly, the world is better for it.

But not that lake. That lake has clearly been “overfished.”

Mikor MGL: The 40mm South African six shooter (VIDEOS)

Wed, 04/16/2014 - 12:07

There’s a cathartic feeling associated with the sudden desire for a bigger gun; like for instance, if you found yourself alone in a back alley in Badguyville with only a pocket pistol and your mitts. Its in these quiet moments that you may find yourself praying for something a little over the top like a lightweight 40 mm six-shot grenade launcher that is both easily portable and capable of laying waste to entire city blocks.  Well, such a weapon exists and its called the Mikor MGL.

Chiappa Rhino 60DS: The futuristic pimp’s choice (VIDEO)

Wed, 04/16/2014 - 11:23

The technology behind revolvers has remained virtually the same for the last century. Sure, there have been improvements in metallurgy, allowing for larger calibers and improved iron sights, but the mechanics of the design are unchanged. On a current Smith & Wesson revolver, the three main components — frame, cylinder and barrel — and the way they interact is the same as a revolver made 100 years ago. Of course there are exceptions, such as the Mateba MTR-8 and 6 Unica, but, for the most part, they aren’t commercially successful and are astronomically expensive.

What’s a guy to do if he wants a one of a kind revolver without paying over $2,000? Grab a Chiappa Rhino.

Originally imported for CCW with a 2-inch barrel, shooters can now purchase 4-, 5- and 6-inch variants. The latter two are the focus of this review. I planned to review a practical, tr

Michael Bloomberg’s new ‘Everytown’ gun-control group went live Wednesday, backed by an announced $50 million from his pocketbook and supported by 1.5 million members.

Mom’s Demand Action, which has partnered with Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns program, announced in a press release the new “Everytown for Gun Safety” organization.

“Everytown is a movement of moms, teachers, survivors, gun owners, mayors, faith leaders, law enforcement officials and other responsible citizens who believe we can do much more to keep our families and communities safe from gun violence,” the group said in the stat

NY pizza delivery guy fights back against four armed robbers… and wins (VIDEO)

Wed, 04/16/2014 - 08:45

A guy delivering pizzas in Buffalo, New York, was attacked by a group of four armed robbers late Monday night, but the delivery guy – who was armed with a handgun – fought back and won.

It was about 10:30 p.m. when the delivery driver, whose name has been withheld for what police say are safety reasons, arrived at a home to deliver a late-night dinner, The Buffalo News reports. But as the man walked down the front hallway of the home, he was attacked by four would-be robbers who began beating him on his head and body.

One of the suspects was wearing a mask as well as a hoodie pulled over his face and was armed with a hammer, which he used to hit the man over the head. The suspect also exposed what appeared to be a gun.

But what the four assailants didn’t know was that the man they were attacking was armed as well.

The pizza guy pulled out a pistol and shot the suspect who was wearing a mask. The remaining suspects quickly scattered and fled the

U.S. Military Academy awarded top honors in 2014 Joint Service Academy Combat Weapons Competition

Wed, 04/16/2014 - 08:30

West Point cadets won in the team competition.

The U.S. Military Academy was awarded top honors in the Smith & Wesson hosted 2014 Joint Service Academy Combat Weapons Competition.

The event took place at the Smith & Wesson Employee Shooting Sports Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, and pitted cadets from top ranking military academies from around the country in a head-to-head competition of shooting skills. But at the end of the day it was the West Point cadets that came in with the highest score.

Cadets competed individually and in four-man teams and used a combination of pistols, rifles and shotguns to shoot their way through nine stages, including low-light and no-light scenarios and various physical challenges. While the West Points cadets won overall, it was Andrew Zecha who received the highest individual score.

Smith & Wesson has hosted the annual competition for the last 9 years and accord

First women integrated into Army platoon artillery positions (VIDEO)

Wed, 04/16/2014 - 08:08

At least eight female soldiers have recently been assigned to an Army field artillery unit at Ft. Bragg, marking forward progress as the U.S. military continues working towards opening up combat positions for women.

First Lt. Kelly Requa, along with at least seven other female lieutenants, was brought into the 3rd Battalion of the 321st Field Artillery Regiment last November. Requa was assigned as the platoon leader of her field artillery unit and while she’s currently the only female in her platoon, more will soon follow, Military Times reports.

First Lt. Kelly Requa is one of the few female soldiers brought in to lead a cannon platoon at Ft. Bragg.

The integration of females into leadership roles in all-male combat units is a source of ongoing debate, and some of the military leadership has expressed trepidation about how their presence will be accepted by the
