7-Eleven clerk disarms masked robber, chases him off (VIDEO)

Mon, 04/07/2014 - 19:00

Two 7-Eleven clerks in San Leandro, California, attacked and disarmed a masked robber Friday night.

The clerk, Mark, was working at 7-Eleven when an armed robber donning a ski mask barged in, brandished a gun and demanded money. But the robber was careless and when Mark saw an opportunity to attack, he seized it, KTVU reports.

“I saw the guy coming around the corner and I thought he was going to use the sink,” Mark said. “When he passed the sink, I turned and saw the gun. He demanded cash and I held up my hands. He started swinging the gun back and forth. When the gun got close to him, I saw my opportunity. I grabbed it by both ends and just yanked it out of his hand.”

The suspect, relieved of his weapon, fled the store on foot and managed to evade police. While San Leandro Police Lt. Robert McManus doesn’t recommend combatting an armed robber, he recognized the two men for their bravery and swift actions.

“We are extremely lucky no one was injured,” McManus said. “Although we do not advocate that anyone approach someone with a weapon such as a knife or firearm, the quick actions of both employees disarmed the suspect and took a gun off the street that could have been used

A charity hockey game between the New York Police Department and the New York Fire Department of New York broke out into a bench-clearing brawl Sunday.

The match took place at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island and massive fight broke out during the second period when both teams were tied 3-3. After a barrage of flying fists the tussle was eventually broken up and the NYPD went on to win, finishing at 8-5 and breaking the FDNY’s five-year winning streak, Huff Post reports.

After the game, the NYPD took their hockey Facebook page, posting, “Good job boys, finally kicked those hoser’s asses.”

But the FDNY was quick to point they had won the last five consecutive years, posting to Facebook, “We lost 8-5. Can’t win em all. Five out of six ain’t bad. Thanks to everyone for showing up. See u next year.”

A Buckingham Palace guard holds a ranting “intruder” at bay.

A Buckingham Palace guard raised his bayonet-fixed rifle at a ranting intruder Sunday during a heated argument.

The guard, who normally stands stoic and silent at the north-center gates, left his post to aid another officer. The suspect was shouting and according to witnesses, was trying to force his way inside. The guard raised his rifle at the man, who after being given “words of advice,” promptly left.

An Army spokesman said no arrests were made and no injuries were sustained during the confrontation.

“We are aware of an incident outside Buckingham Palace on Friday,” said the Army spokesman, “and while no-one came to any harm and there were no arrests, we are very clear the that the Metropolitan Police lead on royal security arrangements, including outside the palace itself.”

Kriss Vector v. Google Glass 2.0 (VIDEO)

Mon, 04/07/2014 - 18:30

Pretty sure the submachine guns would be equally effective against Google Glass users but we don’t need to see this tested for YouTube.

I guess some people might be a little upset to see this particular piece of kit demolished for giggles (and dat wub wub beat) but Google Glass is just, I mean, c’mon.

There is plenty more of Richard Ryan blowin’ up perfectly-fine and lightly-broken gadgets on the RatedRR YouTube channel.

A 13-year-old student from Vernon, New Jersey, was suspended from school last week and given a psychological evaluation after a classmate witnessed the student twirling a pencil in a manner that resembled “gun motions,” local affiliate News 12 reported.

Ethan Chaplin, a seventh grader at Glen Meadow Middle School, was sent home from math class after a peer saw the teen twist a pencil around that had a bent pen cap attached to it, which allegedly resembled the movement of a firearm.

“He’s making gun motions, send him to juvie,” observed Chaplin’s classmate, who according to Chaplin, was bullying Chaplin the day befor

Florida’s controversial so-called ‘warning shot bill’ has cleared the state legislature and is now ready for Gov. Rick Scott’s signature.

The bill would make it legal in the state for one to effectively display a weapon in a self-defense situation if proper justifications are met. It was crafted after Marissa Alexander, a South Florida mother was sentenced to a 20-year mandatory sentence in 2012 for firing a handgun during a domestic dispute due to the state’s “10-20-life” laws.

“This is about self-defense,”

A group of gun-rights advocates rallied in front of a San Antonio police substation Sunday to protest a city ordinance and the treatment a young man received last month from police officers while he was open carrying a rifle across his back, a local Fox affiliate reported.

Nineteen-year-old Henry Vichique was walking home about 8:00 p.m. on March 31 when he was approached by police officers after they received a 911 call from som

Doubling down with the Targabot, pistols akimbo (VIDEO)

You can tell Jerry Miculek is struggling to reject the urge to shoot right-handed but he gets the job done. Like a machine sent from the future to conquer mankind’s last greatest hope to defeat the uprising.

Just to prove that he is human, Miculek has put together this video of him sinking a stage with, like, a solid minute of penalties.

Unless, of course, this was just a ploy to convince us that he isn’t a threat. Robots from the future can be sneaky like that.

Yugo rifles wear their history, however dark it may be

After reading an article that warns of a possible dry spell in Serbian made AK style rifles, I pulled out my two Yugo rifles from my collection to admire them. Many collectors appreciate Yugo rifles because manufacturers refurbish them to like new condition and then import them dripping with grease and stocks soaked in oil. My two rifles are different; they bare the scars of a lifetime of warfare and unspoken stories of battles long forgotten by history.

Many gun collectors often opine that they wished their guns could talk. What would they say? Would they talk of heroic men dashing across the beach at Normandy? Would they talk about bagging that perfect buck with grandaddy? Would they brag about how they scored the final bullseye in competition, w
