Reminder to Take Hunter Education before Heading to the Field

Tue, 09/01/2015 - 10:54

To hunt legally in Texas, anyone born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, must complete a hunter education training course or purchase a one-time ‘deferral’, good for one license year. Because the minimum age of certification is 9 years old, hunters under the age of 9 must be accompanied by a licensed hunter in the field. Hunters ages 9 through 16 must either complete hunter education courses or be accompanied while in the field. Deferral purchasers must also be ‘accompanied’ which means to be within normal voice control of a licensed hunter 17 years of age or older who has completed hunter education or who was born before Sept. 2, 1971. Hunters 17 and up must complete hunter education courses.

Important: new BF Goodrich tire recall

Mon, 08/31/2015 - 14:29

Michelin North America has issued an important recall for a number of its light truck or SUV tires marketed under the BF Goodrich brand name.  The affected tires may experience rapid air loss due to a rupture in the sidewall in the bead area.  If the sidewall ruptures during use there is a serious risk of loss of vehicle control resulting a vehicle crash.  As I have said before, tire recalls (all recalls for that matter) should never be ignored.

That’s way closer to a bobcat than we’re comfortable being. Fortunately in this case, the bobcat is not wild, did not break into this boy’s kitchen, and is not viciously mauling him like a starving black bear that just discovered donuts…
