Four St. Louis men were reportedly “playing” with their newly purchased guns when one of them accidentally fired, shooting and killing a member of the group.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported 22-year-old Demonte M. Turner said he was showing 21-year-old Spencer Weber how to disassemble and clean his .40-caliber pistol. Turner was not aware the gun was loaded and accidentally shot Weber in the head.

Weber was taken to a local hospital where he would later die.

Turner was charged Monday with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action related to Weber’s death.

Two other witnesses told law enforcement they had warned Weber and Turner to stop playing with their guns.

A giant match grade pistol that tips the scales at 40-ounces, the 1990’s vintage Mark 23 is beefy as all get out with a barrel that is almost an inch longer than a standard M1911. With a Liberty Cosmic can added to the 16×1 RH thread barrel (too bad they don’t have the OG Knights Armament suppressor), the pistol is almost comically long. But that’s OK, because it can carve the center out of anything out to 25 yards with no problem.

The neato frogman ratchet, especially when stoked with 230-grain Freedom Munitions Hush ammo in the above video, is still next-level groovy.

Hickok45 introduces the user to a lesson in just how the muzzle brake on a .50 cal works and why do want to keep clear of one while in operation.

“As you can see, it might not be a good idea to have a .50 caliber going off right beside you,” says Hickok after he launches a nearby red Solo cup and a plate of generic Ruffles into low earth orbit. “If you have never been around a muzzle brake, it only takes one experience to realize– it’s a lot of blast.”

A mother from the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago was sentenced to 24 days in jail last week for buying guns stolen from a Norfolk Southern rail yard.

The Chicago Tribune reported Lori Shelton, a 53-year-old post office worker and mother of two, said at the sentencing hearing that she bought the guns because she needed them for self-defense in the crime-ridden neighborhood and argued she was “only protecting” her family.

However, federal Judge John Tharp said that buying stolen firearms would only encourage the criminal activity that has torn the neighborhood apart.

The judge issued the lenient sentence due to Shelton’s otherwise clean record and will allow her to serve her sentence on weekends so that she doesn’t lose her job.

Taofledermaus went loud against a rusty cookie sheet with shotgun hulls loaded with a variety of neodymium magnets.

The first type of shells used was made from hard drive magnets crushed into a sort of a neodymium sludge while the second type is “Bucky Ball” magnets stuffed 28 per shell for comparison.

The respective magnetic fields captured in slow-motion seems kinda interesting in a science kinda way. Also, since the neodymium is really soft, they disintegrate on impact against even a mild steel target, which means they probably wouldn’t work too well against a shiny metal robot other than to scour the surface. A Roomba on the other hand…

While millions of “war baby” M1 Carbines were produced during and immediately after WWII, a much smaller number of select-fire M2s were made by General Motors’ Inland Division starting in 1944, though many regular M1s were later converted.

TWC has an early M2 and, while few saw combat against the Germans and Japanese, they did prove really popular in close-in fighting against Chinese/Norks in Korea as well as with U.S. advisors in the early stages of the Vietnam conflict. You can probably guess why.

After stumbling across an 80-pound column of unwanted polypropylene plastic, 704 Tactical decided to get it involved in a love triangle that includes a Vepr and a .50 cal.

Polypropylene or polypropene, is a thermoplastic polymer that is known as the “superhero” of the plastics biz because it can be used in so many different applications. The thing is, the only use 704T has for the 18-inch thick block of polymer it as a test bed for some .308, then .458 SOCOM, and finally, the beastmaster that is .50 BMG.

Guns.com caught up with Iowa City resident Matt Uhrin, the “FedEx Guy,” at the National Rifle Association’s annual convention in Atlanta over the weekend. Uhrin stopped a group of protesters from burning the American flag in January while on his delivery route.

We spotted him at the Brownells booth, where he accepted an American flag adorned pistol from Pete Brownell, the company’s CEO and NRA first vice president.

A video shared on YouTube last week shows a security team unload on multiple ships carrying Somali pirates as they attempt to hijack a cargo ship.

One speedboat can be seen coming toward the cargo ship as the security team takes aim and opens fire. The speedboat then crashes into the cargo ship before finally retreating. But moments later, a second speedboat makes an unsuccessful attempt at pirating the ship.

The incident is believed to have taken place in 2012 in the Indian Ocean, but the video only recently surfaced following an attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Somalia last month. The video has since been viewed more than 11 million times in three days.

The In-Range gang have long found that detachable magazine fed guns with closed actions (such as the AK47 style rifle that replaced the SKS) do better in these series of mud tests and, not to spoil it, but the findings hold true on this one.

Pro tip from Demolition Ranch: don’t fill a shotgun barrel most of the way with lead shot and then pull the trigger.

Taking what looks like an old Winchester 1300 straight from the pawn shop, they test out just what would happen in this most unlikely of scenarios that you should not repeat under any circumstances– jamming it full of bird shot then firing it from a safe distance with a string.

“I just want to know if it’s going to shoot a bunch of bird shot out of the barrel…or the gun is just going to explode,” says Matt. “There is only one way to know.”

Collectors of shotgun shell curiosities, Taofledmermaus, undertook a test of the “Skynet Drone Defense” 12 gauge shell.

The shells are billed as being able to take down a multi-rotor or similar to end threats from illegal surveillance, aerial trespassing, and weaponized drones and use a Fiocchi high brass primed hull packed with a five-part projectile, each tied together with a string.

Spoiler alert: with the anti-drone rounds costing a hefty $7 a pop, ‘Tao found out that regular ole buckshot or turkey loads may have been a better (and cheaper) option for wayward quadcopters.

The gun and ammo industry had a $51.3 billion impact on the U.S. economy last year, according to a report published by the National Shooting Sports Foundation on Friday.

The trade group generated that figure by adding together direct and indirect wages and taxes associated with the gun industry.

According to the report, there’s a total of 301,123 jobs associated with the gun industry across the country that generates $15.2 billion in wages.

Also, the industry and its employees pay more than $6.5 billion in federal and state taxes, which includes property, income and sales-based levies.

The overall economic impact from 2016 is up just over 4 percent from the year before, according to the report. The total impact has grown 169 percent since 2008.
